Ice Baths Slow Muscle Growth

ad

Never wanted to jump in an ice bath myself. This was also done immediately post-training in this study. Might make a difference is it wasn’t immediately after.

Similar to using Anti inflammatory painkillers - You need to let the body inflame itself first to start the healing and recovery process. No Pain, No Gainnzzzz Lol

I never tried it, but heard a lot about its role in eliminating inflammation of muscles.

Good topic for discussion people who do a lot of running seem to swear by doing this but for me I don’t think it’s beneficial. I use epsom salt and hot water not sure if it helps growth or not but it def helps with PIP and soreness.... I work construction so it’s important for me to have full mobility.

Actually pretty much anything that reduces inflammation reduces muscle growth.

Of course they do, they vasoconstrict and thus 1) metabolism (which is just the speed of all reactions) slows and 2) less nutrients come to the muscles as the blood vessels are vasoconstricted

No thanks! I just cool down naturally.

I can believe this actually as effectively you are cooling down the body to unnatural levels extremely quickly, so it will start to limit blood supply to certain areas etc. On the other hand though one of the worlds top powerlifters that I speak to has one after every single session and swears by them so who knows.
