Blood donation
ad
I know there's an ongoing debate about the benefits, and I'm not due for bloods yet. I donated my pint today and let me tell you, I felt great walking out of there. I was feeling puffy, had some ringing in my ears, and keep in mind I'm a two times a day religious BP monitor due to hypertension. I walked out feeling great and five and a half hours later feeling even better. It's not placebo. And hey guys, man up! Someone gets in a car accident or an innocent child is in trouble, guess what? Your donation counts. It's a win win situation. Hope everyone is doing ok with this virus going on, best wishes to all.

I do a double red donation 2x a year, Red Cross calls it power red now. For me this is the only way to go. They draw out the first pint and filter the reds and return plasma, whites, and a saline solution to you. Then the process repeats again. Takes about a 1/2 hour and its pretty straight forward. The downside is you can only donate every 4 months. The upside is you're not losing any blood volume on the donation. You can train the next day with no issues. Unless your iron/ferritin levels were low to begin with than its very safe to do. Being on TRT i use this to keep my H&H levels in a safe range. I was lazy the last year and didn't go at all.. 17.0 and 51.0 for my H&H prior to donation as per finger prick reader..safe but elevated. Did my routine bloodwork the following week and was 15.7 and 46.0..good drop and right in range. This has worked well for me the last 5 years on TRT and will continue to do so in the future. Either way, be it a whole blood donation or double red..its a way to give back to the community and stay safe. Especially now with this absolute nasty Covid 19 pandemic i'd advise anyone eligible to give if its within your means to do so. I'm going first week of may when i'm eligible to do so.
Molinin302I wish I could give this a +, and more. I did this in off topic, but you just posted some very valuable information. I hope enough people see your post to help out the community and better their health. Thanks man.
You are very welcome. Always felt it our duty to help each other out, whether its good or bad personal experiences. Wishing you well during these trying times, take care man.
NotNatural23One of the best hospitals in the US has only a 1 day supply of blood we are having shortages worse than before. Thanks for donating I am setting up an appointment as I type.
I would + you for this one molinin302 GREAT KEEP DONATING we still need new fresh blood now even with the virus il plus you next time for this one respect brother
Molinin302No need my brother, give a pint haha!
Yup. Local union still collecting. Give
Anon.
Molinin302My BP is great, I'm very aware of it, but again, my brother, we seem to be a culture of people that care. Give a pint. Save someone's life or let your platelets make a cancer patients pain easier. No pressure, lol. Free snacks after... I had pretzels and juice.
Thats aweasome man. I hope this virus stuff doesnt effect us being able to donate
They’ve closed down the blood drives near me as far as I know. I already did my part and donated but hopefully this thing stabilized to an extent they can get them back up and running by next donation time.
I love giving and have two places I give so I don't necessarily have to wait 60 days if I feel I need to drain out. And my Iron is always on the upper end.
Are you supplementing for iron at all or just eating like a champ?
Molinin302Eat like a champ, I do include an over 50 multivitamin in my supplement schedule though. But have to be careful, iron can raise BP.
One of these days you are going to have to stop eating nails for breakfast.
After donating 2 times after 3 months i checked my bloods because i feeled tired at morning waking up etc my iron was @ the low side taking 2 pills iron each morning now feeling great and fresh when i wake up
