Muscle Injury Recovery Advice

ad

Almost five weeks ago I injured a muscle on my back in the upper right shoulder blade area at work. The pain radiates up my neck and down through my shoulder. This has been the most painful injury I’ve ever felt with. First thing I did was go to a doctor and he gave me muscle relaxers and told me to take a week off work and take it easy so I did. After a week and a half there was no improvement. I went back to the doctor got more pills and he said I needed a deep tissue massage. I went and got the massage and the lady said it was one of the worst knots she’s seen especially because it tied into muscle fibers around my collar bone. The massage helped I did everything she said took it easy for five days and iced it after a hot shower. I also have a baseball I roll around on my back where the knot is. I took 4 weeks off the gym to let this heal but while it’s much better it’s still not completely gone. I just started working out again this week and it doesn’t seem to making it worse and sometimes it even helps. Do any of you guys have any tips on how to deal with an injury like this and once it heals do you think I will be more susceptible to the same injury in the future?

Hi there. I always thought that chiropractic is just a scam, a way to steal some money from our pockets. I heard a lot of stories, when chiropractors were "saving" people, taking the excruciating pain away, but I never believed it. However, one day I got into a very serious accident, and since that day I started experiencing very powerful pain every day. I was already desperate, so I decided to try chiropractic from https://teamalliedpw.com/ . I've been expecting that it won't help, but I still decided to try it. It was one of the best decisions ever, because it really worked. I was really shocked, I couldn't believe it, but it's true. So, if you are experiencing any kind of pain - seeing a chiropractor is a really good option.

I fight lower back pain which is from muscle tightening around my lower vertebra. I use several natural methods which are covered below in everyone's replies. I have to loosen those muscles up. Sometimes it's because I've overworked those areas and sometimes it's because my vertebra is out of alignment causing muscles to spasm out. Chiropractic alignment, soaking in hot epsom salt baths, 6" tube roller (that's my fav), massages, and physical therapy docs have showed me some stretching techniques that keeps my mobility and strengthens those muscles to stay under control.

I suffer from the same - probably osteoarthritis at my age. What I have found helps a lot is doing the last 10 minutes of my treadmill workout in the lowest decline position - it helps work those lower back/upper hip muscles that rarely get worked. Since doing that for the last 3-4 months my back pain has diminished significantly.

No probs mate - give it a go - hopefully you will thank me in a few weeks. I just discovered it by accident and now incorporate it everyday in my cardio.

Last time I felt something in my shoulder blade it was a pinched nerve in me neck. Not saying that what happened to you but a doctor will tell you. I had to wear a neck brace for a month.

The way it sounds, pinched nerve was my first thought also.

Yeah because with my pinched nerve the pain would go away when I moved it around or worked out. I couldn’t tell where it hurt. I would feel it in my neck one day then in my shoulder blade the next. He will know if his fingers get numb or tingly. By the way I took your advise on just using test and HGH only on my third cycle and didn’t t use the nandrolone. I made great gains. Didn’t think test would work again after using it twice.

IMO - You have a soft tissue injury - not a muscle injury. It will take a long time to heal - just like tendonitis. NSAIDs might help but don't use too many because they are known to slow the injury repair process. Start eating Jello. Believe it or not - it's brilliant for tendon/soft tissue injuries. Warm up extensively before doing only light resistance training. Give it up to 8 weeks to get better.

Will you be susceptible to the same injury? In my personal experience - yes. I have had the same recurring shoulder injury for the last 25 years. You just have to learn how to work around it if it recurrs.

not only would I find a MT who knows sports injuries and methods of prevention, I'd look for someone who does prehab or rehab mobility and movement. they aren't expensive the one I use charges a 100$ for a full month with contact pretty much ever day and they will or should write out a program as needed to keep you injury free

I would find a chiropractor which specializes in Active Release Technique (ART). I had a similar injury and it worked wonders. Massages and electric stimulation are also good. I use a tennis ball to roll around on my back now and use A.R.T if necessary.

Chiro is what I would suggest also.

The only problem I have with a tennis ball well actually a softball sized tennis ball is it flattens under my weight but I’ll def give the chiropractors technique a try do you know if they take insurance?

They usually do. You have to find one that specializes in it. My insurance covers the bare min for a chiro visit now, but I used to get it done for my $20 copay.

I've struggled with tons of these things through the years. The best thing is a good muscle relaxer along with a heating pad. You can buy those portable heat pads so you can place it directly on the injured area and have heat 24/7. Each pad lasts abut 12 hours.

With rest, massage, and the heat and drugs you should be fine.

Haven’t tried the heating pad yet I’ll pick some up today

Sounds like a case of muscle guarding.

x2 very good advice bro.

I think you are right because when I was doing abs I felt the hurt muscle tighten up and then got muscle spasms in my chest and arm. What would you suggest weekly massages?
