+ 1 HGH and sleep
Hi folks, I have decided to add HGH to my regiment and have a question about how to best use HGH to aid sleep. I'm in my mid 50's and have been training since my teens. I did many cycles in my 20's when I competed in BB, and have been on TRT replacement doses for the last decade.
Currently I am blasting 700mg Deca and 1G test and will pull back and cruise at 300 test for 6 weeks. I just started actually cycling juice again last year for the first time since the 80"s. The deca is awesome for the joints, as I have had both shoulders reconstructed, 2 metal hips, and 4 knee surgeries including a quad tendon rupture. In spite of all this, I am 9% fat at 6' 0" and 210 and look pretty good for an old dude and the blasting has made a major difference in strength and joint health.
I have struggled with insomnia my entire adult life and have to use medications to sleep. I haven't had the ability to take a nap in a decade (seriously). I am hoping the HGH can help with joint health and enhance sleep. Over the last several years my IGF-1 blood levels typically come in at 120-140. I have never used HGH.
So, I would assume the best dosing protocol for my goals would be to pin an hour or 2 before bedtime? Begin at maybe 2-3 IU's? I would certainly be willing to up the dose if this would aid sleep (and subsequent training recovery). Any training enhancement would be a bonus, but my primary objective is sleep.
Sorry for the lengthy intro, but any insight and shared personal experience would be appreciated.

basskiller89I would consider pinning a dose that large in the morning so you MAY receive some natural pulse at night, assuming suppression isn't too bad from the AM shot
I am not buying into the pinning twice a day. It works so slowly. I don’t see any plausible explanation or study that would make me consider changing my routine. Yeah if you look at half life, common sense would say something different but I feel the effects all day, not just a couple of hours. Plus in the morning is the best time for me to pin anyway.
If I was taking more than 5iu a day maybe I would.
Oh I forgot I usually don’t eat anything before 10am anyway so if you’re a big breakfast kind of person you may want to do it a little differently than I do.
Ohh one more thing.... “Don’t shake your bottles”
That is completely BS.
I work in a packaging company and you will probably never be able to shake it as much as they do putting it in the packaging.
I just had to say that, those YouTube videos make me angry they are just repeating the myths they read on the internet.
Yes, it seems that based on the half life of IGF-1 and subsequent blood levels, it would not make sense trying to pin multiple times a day. Half life blood levels build over time. The only question I would have would be if there was a limit to the amount of IGF-1 the liver could produce with a single HGH pin.
Also from my understanding, the negative feedback loop of natural HGH production is based on the level of IGF-1 and not HGH. I'm not convinced that avoiding pinning pre bedtime will help my natural HGH pulse.
By the way, my fridge just cooled down a couple of degrees and I had 4 preloaded slinpins that froze. Am I screwed?!
Yeah everything I have read about timing the general consensus is mornings if less than 4 units split if more, and good arguments to only do it in the morning an hour before you eat. So if I was a big breakfast person I would probably do it at night. But I am the opposite. But I would make sure I haven’t eaten in a hour hour in a half regardless of when. It is just better for me in the morning.
Yes if it gets frozen they say it rips apart the molecules. Personally I would shoot it anyway it won’t break all of them up, and It’s still sterile. It is too precious to trash them. I would definitely shed a tear if I froze up a couple of my pre mixed vials.
basskiller89lol at the shaking part
I have only been on it for about 10 days. I started with 24 iu a week
So far I have felt a little numbness in my hand and my injury in my lower back hurts a little bit more.... I am assuming that I am starting to hold a little bit of water in my joints. My aching hip and shoulder feel a little bit better. But they always do with a little extra fluid.
I also have insomnia issues so if it helps it would be a nice addition. Edit: “So far it hasn’t” Started noticing a little improvement on week 2.
I am noticing some slight skin improvement also.
I have read that I should keep my expectations low for the first month so I am.
I also did labs to compare my before and after IGF and my levels are similar to yours.
My goal is that same also. I have read allot about the joint benefits.
Check out the posters age first, people in their 20’s and 30’s just think their joints hurt. Hahaha But there are plenty of people in here at our age that understands how we feel :-)
“No offense to the young bucks”
I am doing a 6 month run and even the slightest benefit is good enough for me.
Good luck
So I have been on for 12 days now. I am currently on 5IU/day split am/pm.
The biggest difference in my sleep I have noticed is dreams. Definite increase in very vivid dreams, so I think I am getting more REM sleep.
I still have difficulty on some nights getting to sleep, and some nights getting back to sleep after I wake up to pee, but I have yet to have a night so far where it is 3-4hrs and done, which I have to put up with normally a few times a month.
I have even had a couple of nights where I have gotten roughly 9 hours sleep. Always waking up a few times (I never ever sleep straight through regardless of meds dose) but falling right back to sleep. Heaven
I have gained about 5lbs water weight and get the hands asleep/CTS symptoms at night, but it doesn't seem to interfere with my sleep. It mostly goes away during the day. Skin looks better, probably due to the increased water retention.
I wasn't expecting a miracle, but I am encouraged so far and if it can allow even less dependence on sleep meds it's a win. This is a process I know and am going to give it several months minimum.
Also getting really good pumps in the gym which is a sweet bonus. No joint pain or anything other negative I can think of so far.
I am feeling the same things, better sleep for sure. I have actually got in a couple of naps. I definitely noticed it in my skin my old man hands are changing really fast. First I thought it might just be in my head.
I am taking sleep meds also and I can definitely fall asleep without it a couple days a week now.
I think it definitely shows up faster when your levels of IGF are lower than normal, for sure.
Some people claim better sleep with HGH and even MK677. Something you may have to
experiment for your needs.
I definitely noticed the difference in my sleep. within the first two weeks. Far from the published normal but better.
No its not.
You are experiencing water retention caused by elevated estrogen from too much test left floating around. This masks your injuries but damage still occurs. I say this to you only because of your joint issues. Keep this up and you, i promise you, will regret it. The deca joint thing is all bullshit.
-GH and sleep.....
At first i thought it was enhanced, but it really was not. The vivid dreams.... not nightmares but many were too vivid to the point i woke. No angry tren like dreams, but some were too vivid or disturbing 3d dreams. Either way, GH has negatively effected my aleep. Just my experience, not necessarily something others experience. Also not something to stop.me using GH. BUT.... we need more sleep thenolder we get or at least better quality....
Thanks for the feedback giardap. I have seen conflicting evidence about the whole deca/joint relief scenario. Is it the water retention, anti inflammatory properties(which could mask the injury), or actually improvement in collagen building which helps with the pain relief associated with deca? I did definitely feel an increase with water retention when I added deca to my test (gyno started and puffy), and arimidex knocked it out pretty quickly. Also with all of the sh*t I have gone through with joint issues I am not trying to mask the pain so I can lift heavy again. High doses of ibupriphen can accomplish that and allow me to destroy a joint by masking the pain. I used to take 6 at a time before I had my hips replaced just to be able to walk. Goals are different now in the gym and life in general at 53. Maybe the HGH can help the joints some as well. Again, conflicting anecdotal evidence, but it is worth a try, and if anything else can aid in helping me sleep deeper(outside of traditional meds) it will be worth the time and expense. My HGH should arrive in a couple of days and I will give it a shot.
I have a sleep disorder and have to take medication to sleep. I also use GH and it has no effect on me as far as better sleep. If you currently require meds to sleep, don't get your hopes up on GH for enhancing sleep.
I took 2iu for a month and then 3iu for a month And I only added one unit per month until I got where I wanted to be. Because any dose at your age and because it’s new to your body os going to give you good result.
Regardless how much I take per day. I always take some before I sleep. I can’t say that it helps with muscle recovery, cell production, or even fat loss based on when I take it.... But I can tell you that I’m positive it helps me sleep better.
It’s very debatable when to take your dose if only taking one dose daily. I’d definitely recommend not going above 2ui’s until you know how your body will react, but 2-3 ui’s would be an effective dose. IMO, you’re going to benefit your sleep no matter what time you take it, but it makes some people tired after injections so maybe start at night & see how it goes. You could eventually move up to 3 & split the doses am & pm. There are more people here that are more knowledgeable than me & I’m sure that they will be able to guide you along.
Glad you’re still hitting it at 50!! Congrats brother
So I'll start at 2 IU's before bedtime and take it from there. I did find all kinds of different info as to time of day to pin, but given my primary goal of enhancing sleep, and the fact that at my age I am partially shutdown anyway, bedtime seems to make the most sense. I will pay attention to CTS symptoms if and when I increase the dose. I am susceptible to this due to water retention from high E2 (arimidex takes care of it). Thanks for the imput. I plan on tearing it up for many years to come!
