New year, new job, new self.
Hello eroids community,
2017 was a good year, right up until the end as a couple days after Christmas I was laid off. Had a good job financially speaking. I traveled a lot and the wife wasn't a big fan, but still a really good job. I was stressing very hard the first couple days, my wife being a stay at home to my daughter and one on the way. With no job, and no insurance now, you can imagine my wife was stressing as well. When one door closes another opens. In 2014 when the oil crashed I was laid off then as well, bad luck I suppose or maybe just chasing the dollar foolishly, not sure, nonetheless, in 2014 there was no kids involved, which equals less stress. This time around was different. I literally couldn't sleep for the first week. I lost 10lbs. I'm on cycle keep in mind. Then I got an email from a buddy out of the blue, it went a little like this " hey man, long time, how are you? And btw, do you still have the hookup on that bomb ass test?" As i was laughing, knowing he truly was asking for the hookup, i also knew this buddy to be a true friend. Long story short, the oil and gas is ramping back up, and my buddy helped get me a fastpass to a job, interview in next thurs, the 11th. There looking to make an offer on the spot, oil and gas doesn't mess around, but that goes both ways, no homo. Losing my job Dec 27th, to possibly have a new job, and a good one, by Jan 11th would truly be a blessing. Their medical kicks in day 1, which will keep my wife happy knowing that. As I am currently grateful, still stressed, but less I guess? Anyhow, I had no idea what stress can do to your body. Keep this in mind if your ever in my shoes. Literally felt the weight of the world coming down. Being on tren at the time did not help. All the thoughts of finding a job as good as I had, as much money as I was making. It's been a rough two weeks. With the new year, I've decided the biggest change I need to make is to try and not stress things that are out of my control. I couldn't control my previous job moving there company to Mexico and laying me off, but at the time I did. When one door closes another opens. If you catch yourself in my shoes just know it will work out. I also plan to start keeping a bigger "ole shit fund," and I advise everyone else to as well. Nothing more stressful on your family then finances. Well friends, don't be me in stressful times, thanks for reading. God bless 2018!

Congrats bro i hope all works out for you.
YouShouldGetWha...Good luck bro, a new start is a chance to reinvent and I hope it works out.
Awesome. Congrats brother.
Thanks Pale.
I love the positive mental attitude you got man, no homo haha. Life definitely has its flux of ups and downs with all of us. I was out of college for almost 8 years before going back to finally pursue my engineering degree. My god is it hell sometimes. Between managing an environmental company, getting married, and my degree plan I thought I was going to lose my shit multiple times. Well, I guess I did a few times. I decided to leave my job and took a big pay cut that I was worried would potentially hurt us financially but felt like it was necessary because of the stress. That stress can and WILL shorten your life. Like you said, you gotta let go of the things you can't control. I was with that company for about 6 years. In the end the money came back with a new job and I have never been happier. Things tend to work themselves out eventually. Hope everything works out great with the new job man. 2018 is your year
Thanks homie! Stress defiantly kills you. Have a good 2018 as well.
So, anymore updates brotha?? I hope all is well!
Did my drug test yesterday. There doing background check as well. As long as they don't find out about all the dead bookers I am solid lol. Start date is the 22nd brother !
Awesome man!!!
Thanks man! Headed to get some new red wings as we speak. Taking a couple days off from the gym for R&R
AnonRedWing 9" Lineman Loggers is what I've been wearing for the past 10 years. Best boots on the market by far. They even look nice in going out clothes.
I’m not sure if you have to wear steel toe or metatarsals, but the last two pair of boots I bought I got Justin’s & I love them. They have an inner metatarsal & they’re comfortable, waterproof & long lasting for me. Redwings are awesome too.
Yep the Justin’s are the bomb.... I have to special order them extra wide so my toes can move a little.
I got lazy last order and got a pair of camouflage ropers... There nice too if you hate lacing your boots in the morning.
My comment is probably too late :-)
My son has the camo ropers & they are nice!!
I'm looking for a composite toe. I'm going to look at Justin's too. I do like the Irish settlers by red wing though so may be a tough switch.
Update: Took a phone call this afternoon, to my surprise, it was a phone interview. It was going well, and was asked what I was willing to accept for compensation hourly. I said 22 would be nice, he said no, that's to low, how about 26! I said Done! Wow. The job intells 80+hour weeks, 14 on 7 off. Benifits start day 1. Thanks to everyone for the support here. Time to work hard, make a name, and get shit Done! Not to mention put back on my 10lbs I lost stressing.
Damn bro I wish I could get $26 an hour I'm getting robbed in my job. I'm really proud of you bro I'm glad to hear that you're doing good. I'm a supervisor of the whole area of very large area and I make $15 an hour I think it's time I ask for a raise. But I'm really happy to hear that you got what you needed.
Much respect brother
BIGMURPH
Thanks for the words bigMurph! Yea if your a Sup, you should be making more brother. I mean 15 an hour ain't bad, but I'm sure your dealing with shit as a Sup and you should be compensated for it! Keep me posted brother.
I'm really glad that you agree with me I wish the freaking owner of my company would. I literally run half the state Logistics and inventory plus my whole entire Warehouse and that's all I get I have no boss above me in my district my boss is in another area.
I'm definitely getting low-balled I'm glad to hear about you little brother push forward don't stop keep your head up you'll do good glad to hear from you also
backup2018Well done mate!!! Love to see people doing well!! Good for you ::)
Awesome bro & congratulations.... now don’t let those hours affect your focus of those ones that mean the most. I’m happy for you dude!!!
AnonWell you'll get some good sleep tonight.. congrats brother.
AnonMust be some really bomb ass test, I'm glad it worked out for you, im tired of hearing bad news and enjoy hearing good news. What you're going through is the true grind, keep grinding my friend, your kids are watching and we need more people like you to spread that work ethic too the next generation.
Thanks Juice! I got a little one and one on the way, as men we gotta show this world what it's like to step up. Right now the balance is shifting, and I think women deserve there place, but I don't know about you, I take pride and being the man and providing.
AnonI like providing also and at 35 I'm ready for kids now, I wake up everyday realizing thats the only thing im missing in life. I have the best woman any man could ask for and as soon as we buy this house next month, I'm going to hope all that practice in the sack pay's off.
RustyhookerGood luck! Thats awesome that a simple connection made a possible new life for you
Crazy right, never have burnt bridges with buddies I lift with haha, cause there all crazy huge mofo
Hey bro. Good luck. That’s the right attitude. Keep picturing the positive. Think of what you really want. What would be the best outcome? Hard changes can bring the best changes. 2 years ago I got dumped by my girl and laid off, both the same day. Happened to be my birthday. They made my brother call to fire me. My bmw had blown out the transmission the night before. Not cheap. And I was 2000 miles from home. I was all like f... my life, really? It’s been a hard road but it gave me the motivation to start my own company again. No more working for people who can fire me. Whatever change it is you really want, just act like it already happened. And remember my favorite mantra. It will all be ok. And it will.
Damn brother, that's some real shit!! Makes me realize how bad my situation really isn't. We all go through things, nice to hear I'm not alone.
Keep your chin up brother. To say the "Lord works in mysterious ways" is the understatement of the century. When we trip and fall is when we learn the most. Don't count them chickens just yet but I wish you all the luck. The next door ready to open is always just around that corner.
So true brother! Even when I turn my back be snacks me in the right direction!
Ive been through a lot of those times when the world feels like it is caving in on you and the one thing I have taken away from those experiences is when they happen dont let them get to you. The stress and anxiety can have a snowball effect which will ruin the strongest out there. Ad hard as it can be sometimes I try to stay as positive as I can. Positive thoughts breed positive results.
Good luck on the 11th!
Thanks brother. I needed to hear this
Well said & truthfully said brother!!
Wishing the best for you bro!! God Bless you & yours my friend;-))
Thanks brother. I'll keep ya posted how Thurs goes.
Definitely bro!!!
Man I’ve been laid off after Xmas several times. One year they gave us all hams and said Boys this is the best it’s ever been. We’ve got 30 years of reserves left. This is the last job you guys will ever have. Jan 15th everybody’s sitting at the house. The guys upstairs don’t know anymore than the workers. Good luck.
The steel mill where I work gives a ham or turkey every year for Christmas. One year I was laid off the 2nd week of December unexpectedly & when I went to pick up my last check the staple was still on the corner of my stubb where the voucher had been. Lol I asked the secretary how mine was lost & she shook her head in disgust & said the boss told her to take them off the checks from those that would be laid off.
Wow, that's down right just wrong. Man I thought I had it bad. Wow. Sorry to hear that.
The Lord provided that year as He always had. We made it & I’m sure it made us stronger:)
Exactly Sam, sometimes you don't see it coming. I can't imagine having this happen several times, you are a trooper my friend
I worked there 28 years. I was laid off probably 5 times. It wasn’t bad.
