I know this is an old post but anyway. I found this amusing because two minutes before reading this, me and a co-worker were fighting over the last link of some Jerry Lee's boudin. I saw y'all start to mention breakfast foods also, cause you know we love our grits and shrimp, biscuits and sausage gravy. Oh, also, Red beans and rice, jambalaya and white beans. Mmmmmm!
All the above plus some....shit I'm hungry now.
Cajun
Honestly I've only had backstrap out of this whole list lol that's the best part of a buck in my opinion. I don't eat seafood as well but I'm curious about what hog head cheese is
Well honestly hog head cheese is something only a southern brutha can tell u about. Always an acquired taste but growing up killing you’re own hogs like we did, hey it was just part of it man, down here it’s called “souse”, everything but the “oink” is used and it’s not cheese at all or ours wasn’t anyways, ok as a kid when it’s all u have but i don’t eat it much now lol
Same here. Dad always tired get me to eat it. Likes it back then but now. No acquired taste for it lol
Boil pig head with seasonings, scrap and clean meat chop meat, onions, garlic, celery, bell peppers ect.
Unflavored gelatin, mix all and put in fridge over night. There's more to ingredients that's just a quick rundown, it's good most just aren't fond of the gelatin. Serve it with crackers or French bread.
Cajun
Umm souse!!!!
A lot of people let the name fool them, but it is really good.
Cajun
Yes I know.I'm from the deep south and have eaten everything on your list often.
Yup love it all bro! I do missionary work in Central America & I get true creole food there & it’s a blessing :-)
Thats awsome bro. Helping others is food for the soul
Missin the lone star state and louisiana lol
One bad thing about living on the east coast now
The food!...
I love Gumbo and Dirty Rice. Never thought of goulash as Creole...
Yea I knew some people .who made it with entire squirl .some good ole boys
Ate that many of times, my grandfather would eat the brain's I never went that far.
Cajun
just wrapping up modern gun season here, freezer is loaded with deer to use in everything from tacos to just good ole backstraps. With warmer weather than normal i’m gonna hit the winter crappie hole up!!!!
We call them "Sacalit" and you are definitely right I tore them up the other day that's GOOD EATING.
Cajun
Hell yeah they are, been oddly warm today hear, went this eve and caught about 15 which isn’t bad for this time of year!!!! Free clean protein along with the 4 deer i’m working up. Just waiting for second part of turkey fall season to fill my tags for that and should be all set on free protein this ur my man. Man i love the south!!!!!!
Not big on turkey hunting, the mosquitoes will eat you alive!!
You ain't never lying it has been warmer than usual.
I have a uncle that's been raising pigs for 4-H for his kids for yrs so I stay with a shit ton of free pork, and I usually get 1 deer a yr, damn you got 4 tags to fill you should be good till next season.
Cajun
yeah my man we get 2 tags and can purchase a bonus, between me and my 2 sons we keep plenty of meat, plus the farmer i hunt on always lets me use his tags but i’ll usually fill those and donate to our “hunt for hungry program” which is a great deal for families in need.
We have the same thing, that's a good cause to donate to. How's the little one ??? PM me
Cajun
It’s nice here in Gods country today. I need to man up and move to Fl. If you see an old man wearing socks at the beach with his sandals it’s me.
Somebody has roots in Louisiana.
He knows good food.
yes sir.I frequent the big easy on occasion and get full.Best food in the country from my perspective.
Gotta hitt that cafe du monde
I was there last week.Cant beat coffe and fried bread!!
So good!. Used to go with my dad. Brings back memories
Is that the place that serves beignets at breakfast. They had a great sandwich shop in Metairie back in the 70s and 80s called Gaspers. Great Oyster poboys.
Famous for their beignets yep..
Wish I woulda hit that place up.
Metairie and surrounding places of the quarter usually have the better food than what's inside.
There's this place that makes a homemade Cajun boiled shrimp poboy with their own homemade jalapeno mayo . I stop everytime!
There’s a good one in Gatlinburg Tenn called New Orleans sandwich shop. The guy relocated after Katrina. I’ve eaten at the beignet place. Damn good. I need to make it back there.
Right on. Never been to Tenn. If I ever take a road trip that way. I'll have to remember that. I was in southeast tx when the storms hit. I remember all that
