+ 6 anastrozole the good bad and really ugly

ad

i hope this helps some out, ive been working on it for a week or so gathering info and making sure i dont plagirize anyone.

arimidex (anastazole) actually works by binding to the infamous aromatase enzyme that converts your testosterone into estrogen. Thus it effectively inhibits or blocks this conversion.
Arimidex is easy on blood lipids and does not seem to impact libido the way other anti aromatases can. most men report a libido boost while using it.
Also has demonstrated an ability to free SHBG testosterone and raising total available free test
While basically unchanging FSH it has been shown to raise sperm density by as much as 78% and is often used in conjuction with other drugs to treat male infertility.
In most studies it Reduces estrogen by approx. 50% with no change in GH concentration but on average 18% reduction in serum IGF concentration. In hypogonadal men only taking anastrozole there was on average a 58% increase in test serum anastrozole has been demonstrated to help with increasing the height of pubertal boys with profound growth retardation without creating gonadal suppression.
Absorbs in about 2 hours at full serum level on empty stomach and with food approximately 5 hours and food decreases the effectiveness by up to 16%
Half-life is approximately 50 hours, approximately 10% passed in urine. Approximately 85% metabolizes in the liver.
Kidney function decreased proportionally with dosage and those with impaired kidney function by as much as %50. Has been linked to acute renal failure. A person with a normal kidney function should expect a decrease in kidney function from %10 to %30 (environmental adjustment)
Liver function in those with normal stable hepatic function in some studies have been reduced by as much as 30% or more
Vasodilation
hypertension
ischemic CV disease
thromboembolic disease
venous thromboembolic events
deep venous thromboembolic events
ischemic cerebrovascular even
-deep pain in the quads is attributed to long term arimidex use as listed in the side effects above.
Asthenia
mood disturbances
headache
depression
insomnia
dizziness
paraesthesia
anxiety
hypertonia
lethargy
arthritis
arthralgia
back pain
bone pain
osteoporosis- caused by long term use and a drop in bone mass density as a result of long term low estrogen

Dyspnea
increased cough
sinusitis
bronchitis – caused by inflammation in lungs

although arimidex is an effective treatment for reducing estrogen often the seriousness of the side effects are over looked. 1mg a day for a period of 4 months has been linked to renal failure and even less amounts have been linked to seriously impaired renal and hepatic function.

I use arimidex and it does effect my kidneys, gives me rashes, dry skin, and pain in my legs. I have noticed that I have been coughing more with a higher dose and I have had bronchitis a lot lately. I must be special exception to this because I seem to have a lot of the side effects. I weigh them well and still use arimidex when my estrogen is very high. I hope this has been helpful

Watch out for the onset of hellacious ear ringing!!! Just posted this in the TRT / Over 40 Forum:

I've been on a monitored and prescribed TRT regimen from a local clinic for about 6 months. Currently I am taking 200 mgs of testosterone enanthate weekly (100mgs Mon / 100 Mgs Thurs). I tend to aromatize heavy, so take 1mg of arimidex as an aromatase inhibitor weekly (.50mgs Mon / .50mgs Thurs).

This protocol has worked wonders for the most part - before I started my TRT regiment, my testosterone numbers were in the dumpster... I'm talking like the levels of an 85 year old man, and I'm only 37! Total testosterone was 227. Free testosterone was 5.8. Estradiol was 18.

I've always kept myself in excellent shape and have been lifting for years. I did quite a few cycles in my twenties, but always did proper PCT - in theory I bounced back, as I've had three children since my last cycle 6+ years ago... so fertility was never an issue. Whatever precipitated my gutter level testosterone range, it explains my atrocious mood swings, lack of mental clarity, night sweats, dreams being non-existent, social agitation, muscle atrophy, and all around lethargy. TRT remedied all that...

Now the drawback: Has anyone experienced negative reactions to arimidex? Several weeks ago my hearing has gotten constantly more disruptive until I now hear constant high-pitch ringing in my ears. Sudden noises like plates / glasses banging together or high range laughter starts ricocheting my brain against my skull. Overall, sudden sounds seem much more amplified. These symptoms seem to be classic indications of tinnitus and hyperacusis. Over time I thought things would subside, but its been weeks now with no situational change. I started to review online forums for women that are proscribed arimidex who have battled breast cancer, and many report the same problems with ringing in their ears as a secondary effect.

Applying Occam's Razor would be to quit taking the arimidex and see if the ear ringing goes away. But I am hesitant to do this and start getting virilization symptoms from resurgent estradiol because of no aromatase inhibitor.

In other words, damned if I do damned if I don't.

Stopping the TRT altogether is not in the realm of possibility. No way am I going back to being like a sluggish low testosterone walking dead man...

Suggestions? Anyone out there not tolerate arimidex well or have similar problems?

I am currently trying to figure out what effect, if any, the Adex may have had on me. I actually only just started my cycle about 12 days ago, and after woefully misdiagnosing myself with Gyno on the 7th day, I took .25mg, and then another .25mg two days later.

Didn't feel much from the first dose, but on the second dose I noticed something strange within a few hours. Best way to describe it would be like some kind of mild, 'out of body' experience, with strange tingling sensations. Nothing outrageous, but very weird, and I did notice a drop in my general vitality for a day or two. As for the hyper-acuity thing; I suffer from this a lot anyway, but I do recall that I was experiencing it that night - hyper sensitivity to sharp sounds etc.

My otherwise rising libido took an absolute dive for a few days as well - not like actual dysfunction or anything, but I felt like that part of me was dead - just had no interest whatsoever. I had been getting some dull aching in the testes prior to taking it, but the Adex ended this immediately, so it was like my libido and the aching were canceled simultaneously once I took the second dose. Not sure what this means, but it was very sudden.

Needless to say, after taking advice from some of the Pros here, I have ceased taking the Adex, as the consensus here is that you will never need it before the 4th week of your cycle. As I should have known, my bloating was down to food allergies, and I didn't need it at all. I have read many conflicting experiences about the way it impacts your system, and so it is obviously different for everyone, but I feel like I did not react well to it.

The reason I am not 100% positive about Adex being the cause though, is that I had to miss a night of sleep prior to taking the first dose, and so despite catching up on sleep before the second dose, I must concede this as a possible contributor to feeling weird and losing libido, as it takes time to recover from sleep dep. It was just strange how all this happened so suddenly after taking the second dose, having already gotten a good nights sleep.

Suffice to say, that was 3 days ago, and I am now back where I was before, with my libido and general well-being on the rise again - but I tend to feel like the Adex really threw me out of whack for a few days there. Could have been a combo of (unnecessary) Adex and sleep dep, and many people report different experiences with it - but I definitely feel like I reacted badly to it.

My advice would be to keep searching around here and ask one of the pros. Other than that, if you are on prescribed TRT, go see your Doctor and see what they say?

Get on some DIM, 200 mgs/daily. It's natural and made out of cruciferous vegetables. I've had great results with it since I fully dropped arimidex as my AI. Smoky Mountain Naturals makes a great product that is very potent.

Keep in mind, DIM isn't an AI per se, but rather an estrogen suppressant more en league with tamoxiphen... but with none of the sides.

If you are TRT for life, it's all about risk management and safe longevity. Why compromise things and end up in a wheelchair with creaky joints and osteoporosis because you fucked yourself for 20+ years with arimidex or aromasin?

I've just started my cycle (500 Test-E & 200 Deca) and am wondering when to take my Arimidex? I'm 1 week in as of today, and have just started experiencing Gyno over the past 48 hours or so: bloating and water retention, dulled libido, and less energy than the first few days etc. All of a sudden I'm starting to feel chubby and soft again!

The online consensus seems to be that 0.5mg EoD is sufficient for all but the most hardcore users, but I was shocked to read just how hepatotoxic they are, so am wondering whether 0.25mg EoD would be a better idea, as I've read that this can still do the job for most people.

Also, I have experienced the most faint sensation in the testes since the gyno starting setting in; kind of like a very dull ache which barely registers. Reminds me of post-cycle aching, but I'm just beginning a cycle. Is this related to Aromatising and Oestrogen?

Not possible with a long ester after only 1 week. All in your head or something else but it isn't the AAS. Get some blood work if you are paranoid.

Ah, ok.. I'm probably eating too much wheat then, as this was my next guess. Excessive gluten always makes me puff up like a balloon, and this week has been very undisciplined.. Perhaps the other symptoms are just fluctuating as my Test levels build up? Inconsistent diet wouldn't have helped.

I keep assuming the worst with all this stuff, so I've already taken .25mg of Adex just now after reading about gyno surgery for bitch tits..! Should I keep going EoD or just leave it until some legit gyno symptoms manifest?

i would switch to see. i keep multiple anti E on hand, i use them depending on need and sides. not everyone will have sides, some are more effective than others. sides can also develop because you arent dosing correctly. I have found that the half life plays a bigger role in the amount and frequency they should be taken, along with time of day.

Knowplay32's picture

Would you suggest he try something like Aromasin since it inhibits estrogen through a different mechanism than Arimidex to see if the sides lessen or cease? I ask in case later down the road I run into this as I have both on hand.
