+ 66 Best Liver Protectant ☕
There are so many products on the market today each making claims to guard one’s liver from anabolic steroid induced damage, I thought I would read through a couple of scholarly articles and write something that is understandable and useful.
Steroid toxicity is not a widely researched topic in the medical community, probably, because it affects too few people.
The less the liver is able to metabolize a steroid, the more toxic it is. The more androgenic and less anabolic a steroid is, the more toxic it is. Liver toxicity is not confined to oral steroids, but those are the chemicals that do the most damage.
So, what does that mean? One of the most toxic steroids to the liver is mibolerone (cheque drops). It is not metabolizable at all and is excreted in the urine as unchanged mibolerone. It is not known exactly how the C17 alpha-alkylation of most oral anabolic steroids causes liver damage but it is observed as I stated above that the more androgenic an oral compound is, the more toxic it is, so we are left with the hypothesis that since C17 alpha-alkylation blocks the liver hormone that would normally break the steroid down into useless metabolic components and allows the steroid to pass into the bloodstream that the androgenic activity of the steroid in the liver is somehow the source of the problem.
How is the liver damaged? Bile flow is impaired. Steroids cause the liver cells to swell and hold bile that would normally be secreted into the digestive tract. The damage caused by bile acid accumulation in the liver is called cholestatic liver damage. As bile gets backed up in the liver we see increased serum levels of AST, ALT and GGT. The retained bile salts are so toxic to the liver cells that they can cause the liver cells to die and create an inflammatory response further exacerbating the situation. If enough liver cells die, bile ducts can be destroyed.
But, not all bile acids are toxic.
The oral administration of Tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA) will assist the liver in producing bile acid metabolizing enzymes that will break the toxic bile acids down into less toxic compounds. TUDCA is itself a non-toxic hydrophilic bile acid. While the exact mechanism is unknown, TUDCA will also reduce pre-programmed liver cell death called apoptosis and will stimulate impaired bile secretion of accumulated bile acids.
TUDCA is the most potent form of liver support currently available.
Milk Thistle extracts have liver tissue regenerative properties, are excellent anti-oxidants but don’t impact cholestasis. So, while they are excellent at overall general liver health they are not adequate protection against the ravaging effects or oral anabolics.
Essentiale Forte is a phospholipid complex that has been shown to help clear toxic bile acids from the liver. It is an excellent supplement and probably the next best thing to TUDCA. It is produced by the pharmaceutical company Sanofi-Aventis.
N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) supports the production of Glutathione, which itself is a powerful anti-oxidant that can protect the liver against toxicity but once again is limited in its ability to treat cholestasis and is marketed in many preparations with poor bioavailability.
Liv-52 is an excellent blend of antioxidants but will not treat cholestasis.
Dosing of TUDCA – 500 mg / day while on a cycle containing oral compounds. It should not be used more than 8 weeks at a time or for the duration of the cycle as it can have a negative impact on lipid values.
For general, year round, liver support, I would look to Milk Thistle.

Hey bro I went and researched it. very good info. I drink about a gallon of water or more a day currently.
Cool buddy!
If you drink bottled water just check the ph level to get the best pure water....I think 7-7.5 is best
Only drinking water really effective?
Yes....very affective and very important not just on cycle but when training in general.
It helps the body work more efficiently in so many ways
I use brawn on cycle complete. It has both NAC and TUDCA and R-ALA. this stuff helps my body stay healthy while I'm on heavy cycles. Together with GW1516.
Hey dag,
Sent you an fr........I need a to speak to you about gw
Great info here. I was one of those guys that always said my diets good..im strong..healthy..no worries. Well at 41 yrs old a 15mm lesion has been found on my liver..could be cancerous..could benign..either way a lesion is a sign of trauma. Im Not saying its from steroids..i dont know that..however im sure they didnt help. I never took proper precautions..especially when running high doses of orals for extended periods. I never drank a lot..didnt use drugs...well not excessively..and didnt start cycling until i was older and had a good base and knowledge of the lifestyle. I have family and, freinds that live and breathe body building...that have always been there to help and let me know what i should and shouldnt be doing..i say this because it wasnt a lack of knowledge or inexperience that got me here..it was basically stupidity and ego. I thought nothing of running a 100mgs of Oxymetholone for 10-15 weeks without any liver support, knowing that half that dose could cause serious issues. With that being said The liver is an amazing organ ..and does have the ability to repair and heal itself..if the damage isnt to severe..its been a hard lesson learned...and i appreciate posts like this..i dont post much but ive been around..on this board and others..and while there are many responsible eduacated people willing to share and help..i still read so many posts from young dudes in there 20s or early 30s ..just blasting cycle after cycle..stacking numerous compounds ridiculous amounts of test..thinking they're indestructible.. I can tell u..it dont matter how strong you are..or how healthy and good of shape your in.. your body and organs do have limits..and while i agree theres many protectants and supplements u can take to help and lesson the stress on your organs..its not a garauntee..or a green light to be careless.
15 weeks of anadrol at any dose is stupid, id be suprised if you dont end up with liver tumors when your older, thats ludacris.
Tudca with Nac is what Ive been doing.
I had bloods while I was 2 weeks on Tbol and I was 44 AST and 39ALT. Not too shabby. That was week 2 dont know how high I got to by week 5.
did your labs show GGT and alk phos? also for those reading that are gonna do MIC post cycle ramp the dose slowly or prepare to nuke the toilet every 15 mins.
i usually used Milk Thistle and im gonna stay with it
Great info, currently running guardian as a liver support. I just had my levels checked and so far everything is good to go.
Glad to hear that you're fine, wish everything going well with you.
Anon100% cranberry juice....
Why not just straight choline and Inositol pills?
both @ 4 gramm a day is the best liver detox and also for fatty liver
JoeyTorontoUm, almost every source I've read says it's for brain and mental wellness? No where does it day it's for liver.

Read this buddy
muscle-italiaGlutathione is the best (commercial name TAD 600). It neutralizes free radicals, enhances the immune system and detoxifies the liver. It’s made in the liver, the organ most responsible for detoxifying your body, so optimal liver function is absolutely essential. If your liver isn’t functioning well, glutathione production suffers, toxins overwhelm it and illness, both short term and long, are not far behind. Keep your glutathione levels high however and it:
In short, glutathione allows your body to detoxify itself and in so doing, helps keep you healthy for the long haul.
Glutathione is an excellent supplement for sure, but is limited in its ability to treat cholestasis which is the subject of this post and the main threat to the liver posed by androgens.
I think your kidneys do the detoxify brother filtering the blood 24/7
Good info tho
We like Synthergine really well. We have used it the last couple of years exclusively. Lab work doesn't lie and Ive seen the numbers improve over and over,,,thats why we use it,,,it works!
Did lab work say what guys were on as far as AAS?
Lab work before and after the use of this?
Lab work proving they didn't take another liver supplement?
Sorry but this liver stuff and most of that scam brand's products are garbage.
Recently an elderly friend of mine who NEVER used any AAS of any kind but is a massive alcoholic used it with extreme success. Blood tests were ran before and during (he still is using it currently) and his liver values improved dramatically. His doctor has even been amazed by the improvement.
I dunno bro. First of all, it's a non-pharma proprietary product of a supplement company, Synthetek Industries. It's a combo of Arginine HCL, Sodium Glucuronate, Di-isopropylamine Dichloroacetate, and Lysine HCL along with other things, non of which have been shown to deal with cholestatic hepatitis which is the main issue with androgens.
But, who knows? I wouldn't use it, but if you say it produces good labs, I'm not going to argue with you . . .
Dont forget about tumeric powder (dont buy tge pills, without black pepper its useless)........my wife is on heavy chemo for breast cancer(oral and IV). I give her a tablespoon twice a day and her liver values are perfect. I started taking some myself. You buy the powder form, mix it with warm water into a paste, add fresh black pepper and there you go...one of the best protectants out there...look it up, its crazy how much you can do with it.
JoeyTorontoThanx for the info, I'm gonna try this. My liver results are bit low. People shy away from curry, turmeric etc because the next day you smell, it goes through your pores. But hey, I'll do it if it helps out.
Why don't you just try the TUDCA as I suggested?? LOL

JoeyTorontoJust an update, I've been taking 2 tsp of turmeric with pepper daily, my liver enzymes have dropped in 1/2. Along with N2Guard.
So what's working for you best the turmeric or the N2Guard???
Can post bloods would be very intresting/helpful for us all.
JoeyTorontoWell, I'm taking both turmeric and N2Guard, turmeric is in N2Guard anyway, so it's more turmeric.
Results on Oct 3rd Alanine Aminotransferase
HI 100 Reference: <50 U/L
Results on Oct 11 Alanine Aminotransferase
HI 56 Reference: 4-43 U/L
Just noticed they lowered the reference on my 2nd results, interesting. It's still a bit high. I ordered the TUDCA just to be extra safe but it's taking forever to get here from the USA. I asked my doctor to prescribe it to be but I need an appointment which I can't do due to where she's located and where I am and my schedule. If I go to a new doctor they don't know me well enough it's a hassle, so I might as well just order it. I know TMI, oh well.
Have a read up on products called choline and inositol.
Plenty of medical studies on these two I've been using them for over a year now my liver values are perfect
JoeyTorontoWell, given that his wife was on chemo which is very harsh on the body, more so then steroids and simply taking turmeric/pepper helped the liver. Why go spend a fortune on vitamins when turmeric is relatively cheap?? But I'm sure your recommendation is good too! Btw, turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory.
You just can't help some people mate
JoeyTorontotoo many hot heads on here with major ego/anger issues. Oh I forgot..STEROIDS does that.
no anger or ego issues from me my friend but I do shake my head sometimes.
Turmeric does have a lot of medicinal uses but tudca is just better. You said yourself steroids are harsh on the body wouldn't you want to be 100% protected?
You've got to remember that this poor lady isn't lifting heavy weights or on a high protein diet and on cycle
DELUXE123.
sorry to hear about your wife I hope she gets well soon buddy
Holy moly TUDCA sounds like a miracle in a pill. I've ordered some now. It'll be with me tonight.
This is especially interesting since my 2 sets of pre-cycle bloods came back with high liver enzyme readings (higher late in the afternoon and a little lower fasted and 10am in the morning) . I don't drink, do drugs and I'm Hep C negative - essentially I should have a healthy liver but bloods showed otherwise.
Thanks GearHead!
AnonI had the same problems with just about any oral I've run outside of var. My last set of bloods after my superdrol cycle showed normal liver enzymes. I was taking a bunch of other supps with it but what I found surprising was my HDL/LDL were actually in better condition than pre cycle. Could have been the Niacin, Cycle Support, Red yeast, Liv 52, Cholester off (this is a good one), Garlic extract, Tudca of course, Animal Flex/Animal Pak...I'm sure there was more, I've taken so many pills at once than I could blow an elephant without gagging. It's ridiculous but worth it in the end, even without the labs I could tell how much better I felt by adding that crazy supplement regiment into my cycles.
was your garlic extract the aged garlic extract? I hear it stops plaque buildup in patients with hyperlipidemia which seems perfect for orals.
Thanks a lot, I've used Liv-52, I will try TUDCA along with my next cycle.
AnonI've used Tudca for the last 2 years or so on every cycle and it's made a big difference, not just on the labs but the way I feel. Tudca for any cycle with orals is a must have IMO. I usually run it along side cycle assist and liv52.
I usually run my tudca between 500-1g depending on what I'm taking.
lincolnttIt really helps a lot. Thanks for your sharing. Do you mind I share your post in somewhere to help more guys? I will note it is from you.
Go right ahead.
Please DO NOT note it is from me. I don't need any more exposure than I already have, especially out side this website.
You can copy and paste it anywhere you like bro. You can put your name on it as well if you want, I don't mind. BTW, please take down your raw post. The mods will delete it, but no sense in getting any more negative karma.
Great post Gearhead! Do you recommend TUDCA on a basic injectible/ test only cycle? Or is it not necessary?
Not necessary bro. IM Test is not going to stress your liver.
Hi buddy hope your well.
Is there an injectable that would stress the liver that you know of???
Like a rip blend or high mg injectable?? Just curious bro
Well sure bro. Outside of Testosterone, you are bombarding the liver with all manner of drugs that are not made by glands in the body and are foreign. Plenty of plain Rx meds will jack your liver enzymes. OTC stuff can as well.
The Tren in a rip blend will elevate your liver enzymes. So will the Mast. The notion that only orals stress the liver is ridiculous. Granted, any IM injection is more gentle and the liver gets more time to metabolize the drug, reducing acute stress. If bloods show your AST and ALT are elevated that doesn't mean you are destroying your body. Unless they are absurdly elevated. Blood tests are important when using anabolics. Just watch yourself.
Thanks for your input mate much appreciated.
This is an awesome thread really appreciate the information you have provided the community with thanks buddy have a good weekend ;)
Fantastic thread Gearhead! Thank you for all the fantastic information. I am curious what your thoughts are on hazeleyes99's comments regarding the potential for TUDCA to negatively interact with orals while on cycle the way it apparently does with alcohol? It is an interesting question.
Any concerns there? Just to be clear; you DO advocate taking TUDCA in conjunction with orals rather than leading up to and/or after cycle?
TUDCA has never made me less productive in the gym while on cycle and on cycle is the only way I know to use it quite frankly. I don't know that it can be pre-loaded. It's a bile acid. I don't think you can build up a blood level of this compound. Certainly, it's not something to use after the oral steroids have cleared your system as it does place stress on other organs. Also, my liver enzymes respond positively to TUDCA while on orals. That is the whole point. LOL
