Looking for a bench for the house

ad

I'm looking for a bench for my house so the days I put in those 12 hrs days at work I don't have to go to the gym and can hit it at the house.
I'm asking if anyone knows of a good site besides Craigslist because I'm already searching that one but another where I can get something quality but not to pricey and of course I'm going to need weight and bars not just the bench so if anyone knows of a place you can direct me to it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Glad you found something a bench at academy cost $100 new. The Olympic bars are $75 but I've had the same bar and original weight for 15 years now. Kept outside, Olympic bars are tough. Gone through 2 Olympic curl bars and 2 sets of dumbbells. I now have room.to keep my dumbbells inside. Bench was only inside for a year. I just spray paint the weights every couple years. But when it's freezing that bar is.frozen. But that's how I have to train, no.gym membership here don't have time. I can hit every muscle group between the 2 piece bench, Olympic bars and weights. But back to your question, check your local scrap yard for weights. They sell them usually .50 a pound or cheaper. You'd be surprised the amount of meth heads scrapping gym weights for scrap money. Some scrap yards have piles of plates literally. I live close to a military base and a lot of those guys when deployed or their two years is up sell them on Craig's list for very cheap. Just.keep your eye out man. I started with 300lbs.when I got my bench like 15 years ago. Through the years I have around 700 now. That way I can keep weight on my bench, curling bar and the inside dumbbells without having to constantly change plates on the equipment. Each piece has.it's own plates next to it

In 2-3 months shit will be all over for sale. People.got weight sets for Christmas and New year's resolution. Find out working out makes you sore and hurting and sell it off cheap. Everyone wants to be swole but not put in the work for it. Those are the same people that SCREAM steroids to anyone who is slightly muscular or has abs because they don't have the heart for.it

Can make the bench and rack yourself and buy a nice Barbell that will last.

Dick's, Sports Authority, Walmart, Sears.
They all usually will have more choices online than in the store.

In the store at Sports Authority for example they will sell a 250 lb olympic weight set with the bar - but not the bar alone (plus the bar is only 300 lbs capacity) online they sell the bar alone and it's rated 1200 lb capacity.

Keep checking craigslist though. I picked up 460 lbs of Troy interlocking steel plates for 60 cents a pound.

I ended up getting the Gold's Gym XRS 20 Olympic Workout Bench and I'm happy with it. small footprint, can hold 600 lbs, and is more stable than I thought it would be. I think it was a good choice quality V price. Got mine at walmart online.

If you invest in a rack system and an adjustable bench you definitely won't regret it. Dicks has a pretty sweet squat rack system for around $300.
As far as weights, most of the scrap yards around here at least have piles of them for around $.30 a pound.
I love the rack myself. You can set the stops just at your chest and go as heavy as you want and you won't die. And you're not limited. You have your pull up station, bench, squats, military presses, a shrug station, damn near anything you can imagine for about as much floor space as a regular bench is going to take up. I wouldn't trade mine for much of anything.

The Safety spotters can be mounted facing the other way and you can place your curl bar on it.
One of the benefits of having home gym, you can do curls at the squat rack It's not frowned upon because the owner of the gym said you could.

It is inside. Agreed, I would never leave this outside or use it for Plyometrics. As I said elsewhere, it's a good price v quality compromise.

Now you can afford a quality, 7 foot olympic bar :-)

That's an awesome deal. It looks like a solid piece of equipment.

I had an Olympus from wal mart I used for years. One day I looked it up and saw it was rated for 225 pounds max. I'm surprised I never killed myself on it. Lol.
But that ones a great piece of equipment for the price.
