Looking for a bench for the house
ad
I'm looking for a bench for my house so the days I put in those 12 hrs days at work I don't have to go to the gym and can hit it at the house.
I'm asking if anyone knows of a good site besides Craigslist because I'm already searching that one but another where I can get something quality but not to pricey and of course I'm going to need weight and bars not just the bench so if anyone knows of a place you can direct me to it would be appreciated.
Thanks

StevebBuying a bench is a waste. Buy a cage, you can bench with it, squat, dead lift, and a bunch of other stuff. It will take up the same amount of floor space.
bigmurphCheck out the one I got its 2 piece it has the bench and rack
I really like it can't wait to use it when I heal
StevebPower cages are better. They last forever and you can add attachments to them over time. You can put a lat machine on them, pull up bar, dip handles, plate holders, and a ton of other stuff. You can buy one used really cheap and just paint it because they are so sturdy it will seem new.
These are nice

bigmurphI had looked at these but its going inside usually I put my equipment outside but my hoa won't allow it so I didn't want to go with a true rack because im putting it in my guest bedroom
They are great to have though
Glad you found something a bench at academy cost $100 new. The Olympic bars are $75 but I've had the same bar and original weight for 15 years now. Kept outside, Olympic bars are tough. Gone through 2 Olympic curl bars and 2 sets of dumbbells. I now have room.to keep my dumbbells inside. Bench was only inside for a year. I just spray paint the weights every couple years. But when it's freezing that bar is.frozen. But that's how I have to train, no.gym membership here don't have time. I can hit every muscle group between the 2 piece bench, Olympic bars and weights. But back to your question, check your local scrap yard for weights. They sell them usually .50 a pound or cheaper. You'd be surprised the amount of meth heads scrapping gym weights for scrap money. Some scrap yards have piles of plates literally. I live close to a military base and a lot of those guys when deployed or their two years is up sell them on Craig's list for very cheap. Just.keep your eye out man. I started with 300lbs.when I got my bench like 15 years ago. Through the years I have around 700 now. That way I can keep weight on my bench, curling bar and the inside dumbbells without having to constantly change plates on the equipment. Each piece has.it's own plates next to it
bigmurphYeah im definitely getting the weights and bar most likely on Craigslist or second hand somewhere
I bought the bench brand new only because it was 1/2 off and the exact one I wanted
I have been having trouble getting to the gym because of work so having this will make sure I can get it in
This will be the first bench I have ever kept inside I've always had it on the porch or patio but I have room in a spare bedroom so im going to have my own little gym
buy second hand bro from ebay / craiglist.. never pay full price for gym equipment ppl always trying to get rid
especially after January lol
In 2-3 months shit will be all over for sale. People.got weight sets for Christmas and New year's resolution. Find out working out makes you sore and hurting and sell it off cheap. Everyone wants to be swole but not put in the work for it. Those are the same people that SCREAM steroids to anyone who is slightly muscular or has abs because they don't have the heart for.it
bigmurph100% right I've had my eye on Craigslist since the new year but I got last night on sale brand new what I almost bought from Craigslist greg helped me out alot
Can make the bench and rack yourself and buy a nice Barbell that will last.

bigmurphI actually thought about this because I can weld but to be honest I just didn't feel like putting in the time
Dick's, Sports Authority, Walmart, Sears.
They all usually will have more choices online than in the store.
In the store at Sports Authority for example they will sell a 250 lb olympic weight set with the bar - but not the bar alone (plus the bar is only 300 lbs capacity) online they sell the bar alone and it's rated 1200 lb capacity.
Keep checking craigslist though. I picked up 460 lbs of Troy interlocking steel plates for 60 cents a pound.
bigmurphI think that golds 2 piece with squat rack is my favorite song far but the second one the Marcy is the one I saw at sears earlier
I ended up getting the Gold's Gym XRS 20 Olympic Workout Bench and I'm happy with it. small footprint, can hold 600 lbs, and is more stable than I thought it would be. I think it was a good choice quality V price. Got mine at walmart online.
bigmurphI'm going to check it out right now
StevebOnline the cheapest is http://www.newyorkbarbells.com/ I bought stuff from here before.
But if you want to go to a store then Sams Club or Costco sell weight equipment for very little money.
bigmurphI have a bjs membership damn they don't sell weight equipment
Try sears like rusty said, they have some decent equipment just for what you need
If you invest in a rack system and an adjustable bench you definitely won't regret it. Dicks has a pretty sweet squat rack system for around $300.
As far as weights, most of the scrap yards around here at least have piles of them for around $.30 a pound.
I love the rack myself. You can set the stops just at your chest and go as heavy as you want and you won't die. And you're not limited. You have your pull up station, bench, squats, military presses, a shrug station, damn near anything you can imagine for about as much floor space as a regular bench is going to take up. I wouldn't trade mine for much of anything.
bigmurphOr this one it's the one I saw at sears earlier

bigmurphI'm thinking that this might be the one what do you guys think about it

The Safety spotters can be mounted facing the other way and you can place your curl bar on it.
One of the benefits of having home gym, you can do curls at the squat rack It's not frowned upon because the owner of the gym said you could.
StevebThat bench is just plywood and foam with fake leather covering everything. If you leave it outside it will warp and change shape. I had it before and put it outside for a while and it was no good anymore.
It is inside. Agreed, I would never leave this outside or use it for Plyometrics. As I said elsewhere, it's a good price v quality compromise.
bigmurphI agree and am happy with it
bigmurphHolly shit that's the one I want and it's attached a great price basically 1/2 off
Now you can afford a quality, 7 foot olympic bar :-)
bigmurphI owe you one that was the exact one I have wanted to get and it was 300$ everywhere else I just placed the order 170$ and change delivered.
I really appreciate that you saved me a ton of cash and yes now I can afford that Olympic bar and weights
Good looking out brother
See what would I do without my eroids family
That's an awesome deal. It looks like a solid piece of equipment.
bigmurphYeah I'm pretty happy about it shipped to my front door for 170$ and change I actually got a Christmas bonus from work in the form of a Walmart gift card but at the store they only have the golds bench that looks like if I sat on it it might break but finding this one on there site thanks to greg really helped.
Where would I be without my eroids family
I had an Olympus from wal mart I used for years. One day I looked it up and saw it was rated for 225 pounds max. I'm surprised I never killed myself on it. Lol.
But that ones a great piece of equipment for the price.
bigmurphThanks brother
bigmurphI'm going to look into this sears does have a 2 piece bench that is really nice for around 200$
But if I could get a full work out at the house that would be great I'm just want to have something for those 10 hrs work days when I don't want to have to go out to the gym i could just get it done at the house
RustyhookerSears. Basic steel set. Priced nice too
bigmurphI was there earlier today actually they have a nice 2 piece bench reasonably priced
Thanks rusty
