Weight Gainers

ad

Ok so I am in the market for a quality gainer, and I honestly have no clue what to get, so I bring it to my peers here for some guidance. I am looking to add 15 to 20 pounds in the next few months with a relatively low dose cycle. My diet is clean and I hit roughly 4000 cal a day, but I'm limited due to work on the food side so I am going to try and add approx. 1000 cals through a protein gainer.

I burn north of 1000 calories a day at work by my estimates as I do a fast physical and heavy lifting job, so the calories are CRUCIAL for me as I have noticed I'm hitting a plateau here despite my best efforts. My wife is a trainer/nutritionalist so diet is Def good to go.

My question is what brand is good for quality calories? Any help at all would be welcome as this is uncharted territory for me. Thanks my friends!

So I've tried quite a few, upyourmass is probably my favorite tasting.. If you can stomach the shit, isomass xtreme gainer had an incredible nutrient profile. You also get 30 servings per jug at about 950 cals per serving with whole milk. I got a jug of strawberry on markdown for 45$. Strawberry supplements are vile... It smells like fish oil for some reason, even though there's none in it. It will bulk you up if you can handle it. I give it a++

1 cup oatmeal
2 cups milk
2 scoops protein powder of choice
2 T peanutbutter
1 banana
I think this was Jim steppani's but this is a pretty tried and true gainer. Something around 800 or 900 calories

We mostly just do variations on this base, different protein flavors, different almond butters. My favorite is mint cookies and cream protein powder with a couple tablespoons of cacao powder and coconut oil instead of pb, but still with the banana milk, oats and ice. Taste like a mint ice cream milkshake Smile

Id stay away from many , a lot of them are full of garbage, your best bet would be to make your own with oats, yogurt , some berries , milk , egg white etc etc. Many are full of sugars and garbage bro just my opinion , a lot gained is just scale weight not quality muscle , many are a waste of money imo.

This is the best way to do it for mass gainers. Most of those extra calories in the gainers come from sugars/high GI carbs that will throw your insulin out of whack and push all those extra calories you just drank into fat storage. Who wants to gain fat even when bulking? Manage your insulin with good homemade shakes without all the high GI sugars and you will have more quality mass. You could easily hit a 1000 cal shake using whole milk.

Yeah I was gonna say most of them are not quality calories, and its hard for the body to absorb so many calories at once so you end up shiting every hour. I tried a few of them, carnivor mass by muscle meds is a beef protein based mass gainer and I liked it better than the whey based mass gainers. Or just stick with red meat and potatoes if you have time to cook.

The Carnivor Vanilla Caramel protein is awesome.2 scoops of protein,3 cups of milk and 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil is just shy of 1000 calories.

That's a ton of calories! How long does it take you to get that down?

Dude, that Vanilla Caramel is so tasty,I can chug it! I could put it down in less than 5 minutes if I wanted to.I have only added the olive oil when on a serious weight gain mission.lol I'm sure olive oil can't be all that healthy. It is a fat.

Yea man that's what I'm saying. I don't do supplements generally speaking for that very reason. No PWO, multi V, T booster or any of that nonsense. maybe a good way to state it would have been looking for a recipe for a high quality calorie shake w loads of protein. That would be ideal, especially if I can bring it in my cooler to work. Do you have any good recipes?

If you want stats they are in my profile and are current. I am 32, 6'3" and today weighed in at 228.5lbs. BF is closer to 10 now but I can sacrifice a point or two to help get me to my goal of being over 245. Thanks in advance guys.
