ad

Is there anything else I can do to build calf muscles faster other than by running, bicycling calf raising ,and box jumps?
I am new at lifting and I am getting slow progress with calfs. What are your favorite exercises ? Any suggestions ?

After each workout finish with calves. That's what I do and my calves are freaking huge. They have always been big but now there muscular and sexy as hell!!! Hit them after each workout!

donkey calf raises are great for adding size, and the other to remember with calf training, is your always using them so when your working them, you really got to pound them to get them to grow, sets of 20 reps are not out of the question, make sure you get a full stretch at the bottom of each rep, most ppl make the mistake of not going down or up for far enough..good luck!

honest in the past few months i have been really working on calves. i have put on half an inch in about 2 months. doesnt sound like much but, im slowing gaining more and more size. im also not on gear at this time.
now this may be some bro science but everyone is different so you need to try different things. Basically ill try to wear leggings to keep some heat in my legs and warm them up with a light weight to get a good stretch. then ill hit them as heavy as possible while keeping good form. when i cant get any more without a good form i will drop the weight again and again until im doing a lift with no weight. Do not underestimate just using body weight. form is more important than weight any day of the week. as far as reps go im not really counting. just looking to exhaust my calves while keeping good form. i think some the problem is that people are looking for a number, there may not be a number, just the feeling of exhausted calves. again, may be broscience but give it a try.

I find that drop sets really hit the calves the best, that way you have your heavy sets for size and your light sets for the much needed time under tension. Start with a good 30 rep warm up, then go to your heaviest weight, dropping the pin a few plates every time you reach failure (always use full range of motion and flex your calves at the top for a second or two). I like to use the leg press machine for a modified donkey calf (plus its easy to drop the weight fast) and the seated calf (use smaller plates like 25's and drop one each time you reach failure). Would be amazed if your calves did not grow using this method. Hope this helps

I wear stripper heals when I clean house. It's fun and it's hard on my legs, another thing is just staying on your toes when you're up. If you can't remember to do it put something in your shoe to remind you. Calves are hard to build :(

You usually start with a boy cow and a girl cow... ;-)
If you're trying to develop your calves, then follow what the other folks said below.

Try it with your feet in dif postions toes pointed in and out to work inner and outta muscles, and calfs respond well to high reps, 15 to 20 i find. works well for me, and i also do leg press calf raises, and one leg calf raises

Calves need to be hit frequently to stimulate growth. I'm talking 3 or 4 times per week here.

Alright I ll try that this week . Thank you

You should try the standing calf raise machine. I ,myself, recently started using it because my new gym has one. I usually would do seated calf's or standing using the smith machine. But now thanks to the standing calf raise machine, calf's have become my favorite muscle part although i lack it.
