so many times users have got a bunch of karma and think they are the shit, untouchable, can tell MODs what to do. I dont know how many people on this site have been banned after getting some karma and breaking rule after rule, started treating people like shit cause they got a tag.
Karma is poison to this site, it makes me sick that people think its worth so much. im tired of the whining, crying, manipulation, lying, dealing, promoting sources, repping, karma bumping clicks, and every other fucking thing that shit promotes. its just a fucking number next to your name! it doesnt make anything more then you are!
I just donated 2118 points to the site, the shit makes me feel like we working against everything were trying to do here, it damn sure isnt making for a safer site. the bads out weigh the goods, all we see is corruption from it.
Im sick of it. I hope we find something better as a site cause this is killing us!

Excellent point, you're tag just means you are active...VERY true. If it were a perfect system where karma matched knowledge I'm sure the amount of karma changing hands would be insane.

I honestly think that's a good idea, a step in the right direction for sure. I would be much more inclined if I were a newer or younger member to take advice from someone who was Most Active.
Bro, the community gave you that karma. You didn't steal it. I don't give MODs karma cause I think it's gonna do me some special good. The real high karma folk usually have good shit to say that's why they keep getting more karma. I don't see the harm.
80%(probably more) of the problems that occur on this site are in one form or another karma related/karma motivated, and many are karma and gear related. all the way from members to sources karma is a problem. Ive known for a long time it is a problem, now im just soooo tired of dealing with it. its a recurring problem that will never stop as long as it is around.
its possible I suppose that as a member you dont see it much, but we do!
What Noid is saying here is absolutely true, so many of the issues we see are directly or indirectly related to karma. More than you realise.
I agree and I see it myself. I'll be the first to admit that I started on this site buying from sources with higher karma members on their pages. I also got scammed that way. I won't name anyone in particular because I should have done more research on my own, but this one member here with a ton of karma recommended a source to me, who I ordered from based SOLELY on his word, and I asked him for the advice in the first place SOLELY because of his karma number. Turns out this is the ONLY time I have been burnt by a scam source, and when I PM'd the member to ask him about the quality of the gear (I received my pack eventually, turned out to be bunk), this member told me he wouldn't ever use this SRCs gear himself and that he would recommend trying to resell the gear and not to use it myself.
After this incident, I learned to steer clear of SRCs with certain members pumping them up, and what I have seen in the past year and change that I have been here is that more often then not, ESPECIALLY in the domestic category, is that the more fan boys a source has, the more I stay away.
When I got to 650 karma, I played the New Year's Eve song Auld Lang Syne. It was like an achievement for me and a little celebration. I felt like I entered into eroids retirement. A place where karma no longer matters. I felt like there's no where else to go. I'm done. Of course, I'm still here, but there is no thought much of karma anymore. I don't sit at the keyboard with visions of trying to figure out how to get to 1000 karma. LOL. I dunno Noid, we all started out with 1 karma. With no credibility. Total Noob. Either you like this place and have some time to devote to it or you don't. Not everyone has the time. I had the time and I put it into eroids.
brother i totally understand what your saying. I knew for a long time that karma was a problem on eroids, and honestly thought that we as a site, as MODs, could somehow make it to where it would be what its supposed to be. We have changed many thing in the way the karma system works in hopes to fix it, and honestly nothing has fixed it. when I say that the bads out weight the goods, I mean there is more corruption from it then there is people using it for whats its supposed to be. The shit is like cops trying to fight the drug market, it never goes away!
Corruption is the handy work of corrupt people and I'm not smart enough to know the most effective way to rid eroids of its corrupt members. People are gonna clash and have fights and say and do stupid things. That's just being human. What you are talking about is something far more evil and sinister. The karma system doesn't make people corrupt. They're corrupt before they open their account here.
Why not just get rid of the whole karma system, why do we need it?
Excellent post bro. I felt much the same way. Karma also gives incentive for people to be active in the forums. Even all the complaining about gear pics, those pics are of great benefit to the sources here, so taking away incentives to post them seems counter productive to the site. I think karma has value to the site and the way it all works, but it really needs to be stressed that it DOESN'T REALLY MEAN ANYTHING!
I agree mostly with this, however if you notice anyone with a lot of karma get tons of plus ones on their gear pics and comments. You could literally post the same exact pic on an SI thread, one by a REG and one by an EXP, and I would bet my paycheck the karma is going to go more to the EXP member, ESPECIALLY if the REG or even NEW member has only been here a short while.
You're right. Once a person gets to a certain level it just multiplies. But there are two reasons this happens.
It took 2 years for me to get to 200, then I went to 500 almost over night. I like my points, it's like 500 little high fives. But I'm not a fan of the "tag"
The sheep notion is true, with no doubt in my mind. I have respect for every member here THE SAME, but you do see a lot of members who will always up vote or +1 a high karma guy or a MOD, but I still haven't figured out why? I mean a MOD could, for arguments sake, post something very silly and non productive in the general talk section just to shoot the shit, and get 50 +1s in an hour, where if a level one posted it they may be called a troll...
Ya know what. I put in 100s of hours of my time in the last year answering questions and helping people out. To me, the karma I have represents a lot of effort I put in and it has meaning to me because of that. I'm sure you're right about what u just said though, unfortunately.
I think maybe my point was missed, I didn't mean that ALL high karma guys got that way from posting pics, but rather I meant that IF a high karma member posts a pic of gear, it gets more attention then it would from a low karma member, wouldn't you agree? I have seen plenty of your posts and respect the knowledge, it was more of a comment for many of the ADV tags that we have on here that have 100 pics in their profile thread. I started deleting all of my old pics, and I don't even post most of my orders now, because honestly, I agree that karma should be earned through posting advice and not pics.
If I had more time to be on here, I would live in the forums and do as much as I could to help, but life is busy for me, and I try to be on here when I can. I lost 67 karma not long ago for bashing a source in his promo, and I deserved to lose it. I made a joke that sounded funny to me, then realized it was in poor taste for any of us to dis a source when they are being good enough to offer us a promo. After I lost the karma, it was a wake up call that the number under my tag isn't important, but rather keeping eroids legit IS important. I love this site, and without it, I would still being very ignorant on the world of AAS.
In any event, the karma system has its ups and downs, but we as a whole need to do better at keeping it clean and legit.

How about not allowing karma for pictures since thats where most of the whores turn to get their fix....Some claim it doesnt mean shit but then tote their number around like it moves weight....1 year on the site 600-900 karma is a joke...You make valid points
Ya you'll always have that in any hierarchy, animals, people it don't matter. some guys get that advanced tag and try to intimidate lower ranking members, pushing them with their own personal interpretations of the ruules whether written ones or unwritten ones

There are a lot of great guys on here with high karma that I appreciate and have helped me immensely, but as u just stated some get that karma and next thing u know they're a guru and are better than everyone else..not that u care but I'll give u your first karma back lol +1
