135x8 BOOM
ad
Feeling pretty darn good. Did my normal squats then thought I would see how many times I could do 135, managed 8. That's a pretty serious strength gain, a few weeks ago one was tough. Next time I get a chance to have my husband home to spot me I'm going up in weight. I would like to do 225 by the end of the year.

AnonTry box squats too! Find something, like a box or a step that would be roughly parallel for you to squat down to, tap with your ass and explode back up. It's a good start for 1) shouldering the heavier weight 2) building strength 3) building confidence with heavier weight. As you get more confident, kick the box to the side- you'll know you can do it- and then work on squatting lower from there. This worked great for me- I'm squatting fairly heavy weight these days. GIT R DONE girl !
I have a box, I've just been timid about it. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tips.
AnonDon't neglect deadlifts either.. Great for strengthening just about everything, but hammies, glutes and lower back specifically, which will all help with your squat.
haha yeah, my husband has me do those. I'm pretty sure he likes the view
You will be past 225 by the end of the year!
Ya know I think you are right.
Every week add 5 pounds or more, There is no such thing as this sentence "I can't do it." Push yourself and you can do AMAZING things with your body.
I like that idea thanks. I agree with you, it's amazing what you can do if you try.
Currently I was stuck in a rut. So for the past month I have been adding weight each week to my exercises. I start with 20 pounds and if it is way too much I drop it down 10. so far my strength has been increasing each week and so has the weight. Its kind of like a 1 rep max except you are actually doing sets. Give it a shot for 2 weeks and see if it helps. If it does then I want to see 300 by the end of the year!
Sounds like someone is highly motivated. Nice to hear that youre pushing yourself. Keep it up and you will continue to establish new peaks while overcoming any plateaus
Having a rack in the basement makes it easy, I leave the weight on and bust out a set almost everytime I walk by. I focaus almost all my effort on legs, but considering I started not long ago with just the bar I am pleased. It's exciting I wish I had discovered lifting years ago.
Way to go. Keep up the hard work and you shall reach your goals
THanks!
