Karma , is it real or not

ad

Would like to hear ur philosophy on whether u think karma is real or not ?

Is there such a force that rewards the kind and punishes evil , or

do u believe things happen because ppl get lucky based on how smart they are or how lucky they can get in life ? And that being a thief , a cheater .. Etc actually amounts to where u can get in life successfully, if ur lucky enough not to get caught .. And that being nice, while its nice , doesn't really get rewarded .

What u guys think?

There's definitely no force rewarding the kind and punishing evil but it seems to me there are positive people and negative people attitude-wise and positive people seem to get more out of life while negative people are just looking for the next bad thing to happen so they have something to complain about. They actually enjoy having things to complain about and look forward to it in a perverse sort of way.

i dont know man... innocent people's kids get kidnapped, raped, and murdered... makes you wonder if karma is just full of shit if they did nothing to deserve that.

but generally speaking i believe what comes around goes around

Without going into details; i do metaphysical work... Karma is the sum of a persons actions in this life and previous existences. it is not defined as good or bad its about intention...at its core its about intention.

if i set out to harm someone my intetion is bad and will reap karma in equal measure.
in indigenoius cultues they killed their children to sacrifice them to the gods for the good of the tribe.....the intetion was good but the action itself is still murder...karma is created and will therefore need to balanced, not necessarily in equla measure bec the intention was not malicious....karma is not necessarily balanced within one lifetime either.....it is a very deep well and on the surface cannot be fully explained....karma too is about reciprocity....ultimaletly it is about the evolution of the the soul....ppl see other peoples lives and think karma never comes back to them but you cannot judge what you see on the surface ..

what you reap so shall you sow, so as an intutive advisor i recommend thinking long and hard about actions you set in motion....accumulating bad karma sucks and sooner or later it catches up to you...mostly be very cognizant of your intentions...
so yes i believe karma is real Smile

plato would disagree w/ u bro, perception is not reality.. but i always wondered about the whole telepathic energy thing but that another topic for another day

I have had a few experiences with Karma in my life but this one I am about to tell you was by far the most profound. My uncle was married to this lady, it was his second wife and I didn't know her well but I know she put up with a lot of shit for him. They had been married for several years when one night she catches him at the bar with a new fling, a big argument ensues and he tells her to "walk her ass home".

So she takes off and starts walking back to my grandfathers house where they lived, it was maybe a mile and a half tops, mind you this is not a good neighborhood at all. Anyway, she is merely a few hundred foot from the house when a drunk driver peals her. After a month in a coma she died.

Now right when this happened I said to my mom, :He has blood on his hands, this is bad"..

Two years go by, then he decides to marry the very same chick he was messing with. Two weeks later he is racing in a demolition derby, his car gets knocked out, the ref points to him to make sure he is okay, he gave him a thumbs up, put his head back and had a massive heart attack.....They didn't even know for another 10 minutes or so...He was 40 years old. Karma is real my friends

I believe everyone has a moral compass. A guide of sorts. Whether its refined by your religious beliefs or just by society as a whole, we all know right from wrong (well most). But is Karma real? I think yes & no, and here is why. If you are always striving to be a better person. You treat others as you want to be treated and are good to everyone then you will only see the good in other people or situations and forget about anything negative. You'll push it aside and focus on the positive. You'll say its "good karma" coming back to you. If you are a mean, nasty prick and treat people poorly, have malice in your intentions and an overall negative attitude, then you'll only see the bad in things. You'll highlight the negatives and call it "Bad Karma". Therefore, karma is not real...it is just your perception of life, people and situations. It's just a matter of perspective isn't it? But it is a very nice idea and a useful tool to strive to be better if you can believe in it. Even if you don't believe in it you can still use this premise as a moral compass can't you? So I say Yes & No to the question "Is there such a thing as karma". Whatever you say it is, is what it is.

I completely believe in it... I stole my ex girlfriend from my best friend of 14 years, and they even have a kid together. She cheated on me and I kicked her out, and karma caught up with me real fast and sent me to jail and I was suspended from work for what felt like forever..

As for her side, she went to jail just a few weeks ago for possession of a firearms and methamphetamine... She started using drugs right as we broke up. I will add that I've never used drugs besides alcohol and the obvious.

Sounds like karma has caught up to what she did to my best friend and myself, as well as completely not caring about her child (16 months old)...

Wow! this can get deep real quick... The punishment of evil? well I believe that 'we" need to believe that evil is punished for our own sense of universal justice. The idea of the Hitlers and the Dahmers of the world get no retribution for the evil they have incurred in the world insults our own sense of justice. But when you think of it in a spiritual sense the Hitlers and the Dahmers of the world are capable of doing what they do because they have no connection to others which may be considered a universal punishmnet in and of itself. In fact one may even hypothesize that that evil is incurred as a direct result of the pain caused by that lack of connection.

Now as far as success goes I guess that would depend on ones personal definition of success. If ones idea of success is solely monetary and one does whatever it takes to get there with little to no regard to those around them then one may acquire great wealth at the expense of love and friendship and never even know it because they have acquired the one thing they believe will make them happy and in most cases once aquired they may be subjected to a deep sense of lonliness that they may or may not be able to identify (and in all liklihood, attempt to buy their way out of) Unless of course said individual is counted amongst the Hitlers and the Dahmers and may live a satisfied lifetime of their version of success and happiness.

Now most humans are equipped with a sense of instinctive morality that guides us to what true happiness entails but within todays culture and society that compass has been blown off kilter and we are conditioned to believe true happiness can be found within wordly materials (yes, that does include finding the "right" partner) I'm not saying that "stuff" is bad but when it is your individual barometer of success and happiness then most will end up with a sense of emptiness (at some point)

So as far as nice is nice, it is workable to believe happiness can be found there if intent is true. Although there is an argument for and against the idea of altruism I think we can all agree that there is a sense of satisfaction that comes from helping someone merely because they need the help.
But being nice to please others at the expense of yourself and others, co-dependency, people pleasing, doing the right thing for the wrong reasons, whatever you wish to call it is no road to happiness (just ask those whom suffer from it) and at the same time doing the "wrong" thing for the "right" reaasons can sometimes have its rewards... Like I said this could get deep real quick LOL!

yes a sense of justice and morality , but if karma did exist what about all those ppl hitler killed, did they have bad karma and deserved it..or is it just randomness .. if it just randomness then i say that karma doesnt exist. good or bad.

alayna's picture

The justice of karma is not determined by any one man it is decided by the source, god, the collective consciousness and one's higher self....the idea mainstream ppl have of karma is not correct...is it not bad or good..it is the experience of the soul and all souls agree to the karmic path before each incarnation....as far as hitler goes; there is such a thing as group karma so all those souls agreed to that.....hitler was in part crazy he believed in his ideals and one superior race....in order to quantify the true meaning of karma you must wrap your mind around reincarnation otherwise you'll never understand its true meaning nor the value if it as a soul.
