+ 1 U.S. Postal service looking to end door-to-door delivery
"The U.S. Postal Service is marching towards a more "centralized delivery," where residents pick up their own mail from clusters of mail boxes located in their neighborhood.
Local postmasters are sending hundreds of letters to fast-growing communities, warning that cluster boxes will be the way mail will be delivered to new developments.
In the past year, the cash-strapped Postal Service has been asking companies in industrial parks and shopping malls to also adopt this form of mail delivery.
But Rep. Darrell Issa, the California Republican leading the House effort to save the postal service, wants more. He has made doing away with doorstep delivery a key part of his bill, which would require everyone to get mail at a curbside box or from a cluster box."

Cluster boxes have been around for decades.
Translates into faster deliveries, larger routes, fewer postal workers.
We have one across the street. They will still deliver to your door if the package is too large for your box or if a signature is required.
RustyhookerNewstalk today made it clear that if you currently get mail deluveted....that will not change. New neighborhoods will have that type of delivery. But regardless....mail is mail.
My neighborhood was built in the late 90's and we have clusterboxes. It's across the street and down two houses. I find it actually kind of convenient and safe. I have two dogs that go apeshit when someone comes to the door, and they aren't bothered the the mailman. It's no big deal.
And as long as we are in "General Talk," Issa is con man.
End of controlled delivery as we know it? Maybe but they can easily just sit back and wait for you to pick up the package.
Muscleg33kIts very easy to scout the area and they re not gonna wait all day to watch someone come and pick up the package. Best time to do it in the middle of night lol!
