+ 2 Quality of life with TRT
I am 48 and have had all symptoms of low test for about 5 years. Talked with my PCP 4 years ago and he was like you are fine and in shape so Test is fine no labs to check just his general knowledge. I started to read up on symptoms and signs and found a ton on this site as well as from some well respected endocrinologists. It was sad as others have stated 1st thing a PCP dose is say you are depressed and give you an antidepressant. Talk about making things worse. I have a stressful job as I am sure many or most or us do. I am on call a lot so I sleep light. Well the antidepressants made me either sleep none or want to all the time. They also tend to play havoc with junior. That is always good for the moral get wood can't finish, finish before getting wood. Once I got on a normal TRT routine for me everything started to get better. Energy was back, sleep is better, sex is normal again, temper done, edgines down and overall sense of well being better. Once you start it really is a lifetime choice which is hard but if I was a diabetic I would not think twice about insulin. So why is trt such a black sheep in people's eyes. The plan works. I have gotten great help from Rustyhooker and dossier among others as to what labs to sell check and dealing with ancillaries. Please don't let some doctors tell you to suck it up because you are old and give you antidressants which do more harm than good. Read posts ask questions and if you have a doctor with a God complex find another one. I know it is not for everyone I think in the next five years it will become more mainstream but life is to short to feel like shit most days. 100 per week works for me and I can tell all the difference.

Amen brother. As far as the SSRI you may be taking, combine it with wellbutrin added with TRT, your wife/mistress is going to think your a monster bro.
I am EXACTLY there bro!
And I dumped my doc because of insurance, but was pissed about his overly cautious nature anyway, so felt no loss. Then ended up finding the needle in the haystack! Doc let me go with an open script and figure out what I was comfortable with. 1.5ml every 5 days is where I settled. And like you said, it's a world of difference. I'll never go back.
ps. Love the diabetic analogy. Fits perfectly :-)
pss:
I tried to "thumbs up" your post, but it won't let me. Is that a new guy thing? (lol)
Also, I'm confused now. What does TRT stand for?
We're still talking about test, right?
Test replacement therapy
And yes
Thought so, thanks.
It's all the new acronyms involved in the online communities
that make it so obvious I'm new at this.
lol ;-)
If you to to general forums general talk win32 posted a list of common abbreviations may be helpful was like 3rd post
Insurance companies hate proper TRT since it costs them money. After three years of getting screwed around with improper TRT I went to a clinic. It changed my life for positive which is a first since my injuy. Of course clinics are outrageous. It is all about the money to them. I talked to my doc and he agreed I needed to stay on clinic regimine since it was first positive changes in years! I second that anti depressants etc suck!!! Won't ever take them again either! My doc wrote all the scripts up for my trt and I already cleared that it was okay for doc to it. Ins called and talked him out of it!!! Rather then just denying it and me paying out of pocket for meds they totally F'd me!!! I know meds and diseases are and can covered too because I spoke to someone who checked into it all for me. Someone wanted to be a jerk and stick their just where it didn't belong!
Its ridicouls that it can take so long to get proper treatment when it takes a while to begin with to get yourself dialed in and figure out best dosage for meds etc. It took me two years after I got hurt to realize all the meds they were pumping into me was causing T/E issues. Turns out they knew about it too. I was also complaining of classic symptoms, constantly injuring muscles in the rosy too. Making no gains despite killing myself in therapy. But someone in the chain of command for my care was told to stay quiet and admitted it after we got in an arguement. It wast until I went and ordered my own bloodwork that I had proof. Then 3 years of getting jerked around with topicals. Once a month injections of cyp. . I call it the roller coaster ride from hell and the T/E issues just made it ten times worse. Also wonder if its why my injuries never healed properly.
Its just good that we have froums where people can learn how TRT should be done and what you can do to get it right if docs will not listen. If it wasn't for the froums I don't know what I would have done when this new nightmare roadblock got tossed infront of me if improper doses for T to do any real good and no AI which I need. No way I could afford to go back into a clinic l. I was desperate for a change and it was only way I could find out if it was really the T/E issues causing me to be a wreck ontop of all the pain and not sleeping.
While I think if its possible peope should try a restart first. If it isn't the TRT train for life is far better then the latter. It change my life around and gave me hope again.
The vast majority of docs are still very uninformed about TRT needs. The worst are those that want to start you off on Androgel first. Best thing to do (in my opinion of course) is to go to a TRT clinic like Royal Mens Medical Center and get put on their program. 200mg cyp weekly, 500ius hcg x2 weekly, 2 arimidex tabs weekly. They are very reasonable and most places charge between $149-$199 per month and that includes all your blood work every 4 months or so. And the biggest advantage is that you can pay cash here and no need to use your insurance for this and thus risk being denied coverage for something else later on in life.
And that person claiming that antidepressants are poison is exactly right in 80% of the cases. But ADs will not make your job stop sucking, your wife stop naggin, your kids stop being hooligan and anything else that is bringing you down.
Dr are getting more Warm to the idea of trt I know several individuals from my area who has started it as we'll it's becoming a pretty common medical problem.
My doctor was all for trt of
Course he's on trt himself lol
Hey man, thanks for posting your story, I´m only 36 but I can relate to everything you mention.
I´m lucky enough to have an inquisitive mind, and everything I do to improve myself is through research and anecdotal experiences.
Besides everything else it is the zero libido that gets to me the most, I used to be at half mast all the time, now I feel like a joke, and I´m sure my body language transmits that.
I am due to start self prescribed TRT, I know this is for life and I have weighed the pros and cons, man the pros win big time.
Speaking of Doctors, mine basically said that my levels were normal and brushed me off with a prescription of Vit. E and some Zink, didn´t even bothered to ask if I was already supplementing nor did he prescribed any tests. It was hard enough to admit to certain things to the guy, and that was his response.
Anyway I am going to log everything here and I have also created some spreadsheets online that I will use to monitor as much as I can think of, I already track workouts, calories, macros, even trips to the toilet (I know, I know), that´s me, the more I know the more I can control/manipulate.
Hope you keep feeling better and better sir !
Best regards !
Like I said earlier it is sad how doctors don't take time to listen. Mine said 2 years ago since I could finish a triathalon my test was fine. I was like seriously that is your response. I do believe there will be more study on trt in the coming years because older folks realize through some type of trt quality of life can be improved and you will actually cost insurance less in long run.
Uahhh that´s just ridiculous
I can understand each individual will react differently but once I knew the potential health risks associated with having low T I thought, well I feel like shit now and although I take care of myself it will probably only get worst, the choice is really easy to make once you do the research.

Meh, he's 76, he really has no natty test lvls probably, for TRT looks like its good for him, the medical community needs to rethink andropause
Good link you gotta love the guys workout schedule. Hopes to get his black belt by age 76. Appreciate it
Wow.. That's a very nice read. I'm sorry that they treated you like shit, but look at most doctors.. How can a hospital support paying them 6 figure digits if they didn't make sure you spent all the money you could, right?
Regardless, I guess props to Rustyhooker, Dossier, and others for helping you out.
Also, regarding your mainstream of testosterone, I think it may cause a lot of riots. It will happen soon though, when such a simple injection can cure SOOOOO much. Screw Marijuana, look at things which are made in our body. THAT'S what will revolutionize health, and life expectancy... Quit looking at cancer patients, and be proactive and look at possible cancer patients who can take steps to ensure they do not get cancer..
Anyways, I'm happy for you!
Congratulations! This is definitely the place to go to...
In my opinion most doctors now are about how many people we can see in a day and let's just give them a pill. Insurance companies are another damm joke. My insurance would not pay for any of my test because they said the amount the doctor prescribed (1cc a month) would not allow me to go through a 10cc vial in 3 months so they refused to pay. Just sad how screwed up the US health system is.
Antidepressants are pure poison. They only make people worse. What doctors fail to realize is that some people are depressed for a reason like their life just didn't turn out the way they wanted it to so instead of doing something to make it better they think you should just take some pills and try to be happy no matter how shitty things are.
