Do Our Guns Define Us As Americans?
During WW II the Japanese Imperial army wanted to invade the US on the lower 48. The reason they didn't was because most of the officers in the Japanese Navy and Army were educated in the United States. Their recommendation to the Emperor was that to invade the US with ground forces would be suicide without reason on account of the fact the everyone is the US has guns. Other countries do not have the 2nd amendment and most do not enjoy the freedoms that we here in the US enjoy. Now baring government intervention and the laws that are made by morons who want to take away more of our freedoms, my questions are these;
Do our guns and the 2nd amendment define us as a nation?
Would we still be who we are without the right to bear arms?
Does this right give us as American's a hubristic pride that impacts everything we believe to be what makes our nation what it is...our capitalism, free trade and democracy?

breakingfaceIf any one thing defines America it's our obesity epidemic.

Sorry, I couldn't think of anything to say.
AnonYou do know your premise in the opening statement is just plain false ? Civilian fire arms had nothing to do with keeping the west coast safe.
You really have to verify the shit that comes around in those mass forwarded emails.
You are presumptuous as to my information. You assume that I got my premise from an email. There are several schools of thought as to this belief. I am not saying it's the only reason. I am using it to set the point that we believe our guns make us completely safe. So much so that it is not even thought of.
Don't listen to Novice. He hates America and wishes it was France or the UK. Besides his arguments are all null and void due to the fact that he voted for Obama twice.
Love you Novi. :). No homo.

AnonIve got some boiled meat and stinky cheese for YOU to eat mutha F er !! >:(
AnonSorry to have presumed where you got your wrong info from. Its just factually and historically wrong thats all. I dont disagree with the concept of your discusion which is simply questioning how much guns are a part of the US, just that that part about Japan is just flat out not true.
As far as being "safe " , well di int cha know we are all just like Dirty Harry ?
I don't feel "guns" define America anymore, although I did just order a Beowulf to compliment my gear set. I'm pro rights but anti idiot, and don't feel many people have the intelligence required to analyze a situation prior to discharging a round. In example- I was in San Antonio years back and witnessed a few rounds get exchanged, while I carry a chambered 1911 I did not fully draw. Why? Even though I saw a man discharging a weapon, I had no clue what the situation was. Guns are a part of our heritage and rights. I also live in Texas though, where our government is passing laws making it illegal for law enforcement to enforce any federal laws relating to gun control laws that contradict our state laws. Have to laugh though- Colorado holds up blunts while flipping off Uncle Sam, while we hold up our weapons and do the same. As for the 2nd Amend, I would willingly die to protect the basic aspects of our Constitution. And some of my toys make vehicle and body armor a pointless endeavor...
I know a dude that goes to mexico and brings guns back illegally haha. Most people I know all own unregistered guns
because of california's strict regulations on firearms, the black market has BOOMED. They are easily accessible and sold for cheaper than you can get at any gun shop.
Hmm... I spend a decent amount of time in Mexico, and I don't think you understand how illegal firearms are there. You can go to prison for possessing a single round, much less a firearm. The only people you see armed are the police, military, and cartels. None of whom you want to approach for any reason lol
I don't know but there is a lot of people that make money selling guns to americans. Because fully auto firearms are illegal here
Fully automatic weapons are legal in Texas and most US states.. We just have to pay a 200$ ATF tax when we transfer/purchase them. Expensive though, a standard preban Uzi runs 7k, M16 variants go from 12k-20k, you can even buy an M2 if you feel like dropping 30k plus. Illegal weapons can be cheap, but possessing a weapon without a serial number is a federal crime. Full auto is pointless in 99% of situations anyway, unless you're firing off a platform or sandbag setup...
They are still illegal under Federal Law unless you have a Federal Firearms License. Fully automatic weapons serve a tactical purpose as far as leap frog suppression fire etc.
All the guns I'm talking about are ILLEGAL. fully auto mp5's, ak's, p90, even specialty weapons like grenades and such
my point is that access to these weapons is very easy because of all the gun laws, without them the black market would be less popular. The amount of (black market) gun distributors has exponentially increased in the past 5 or 10 years
Yeah I know I was letting detour know that even if States say it is legal to own or possess automatics it is still a violation of Fed law. I agree with your point.
AnonThats funny because I thought most Mexicans come to the US to get guns
Why would they do that? Our government gives them away to mexico...
Anonyeah and we gave tons of weapons to Osama bin Laden too, whats the diff ?
We'll gladly give them to anyone, even mentaly ill retards , isnt that the current argument ?
Anont/his is what defines us as Americans

AnonThats the funniest shit I've seen in a while bruda!
AnonAlways happy to see you on here my brother!
He got pissed off right in the middle of prayer didn't he? He skeered me.
I think what used to make us different was our Freedom... which included the right to bear arms, speak freely, capitalism... etc.. all of those things are illusions though .. We are a fascist state and if you think we are not then you are sadly misinformed. true capitalism hasn't been practiced since corporate america bought everything up and started passing laws to suit their businesses. Government became a lifestyle and a business in and of it self.
We are who we are because of the founding fathers. We are who we are because of the constitution. We have become some warped version of what was intended. We are greedy, materialistic, impatient, afraid to speak our minds, and over all disingenuous to a very large part. Special interest groups run this country and instead of us all being Americans we are divided and segmented each with our own agendas, each unwilling to give up anything, and each trying to grab their slice of the pie unwittingly ruining it for everyone.
sorry rant over..
I call it the masquerade.
AnonHoly RumpleForskin... maybe we are too much alike. No need in saying your sorry if its the truth.
AnonMexy stands and applauds!!!!!
LOL I love it! We need some spirit in this evening!!!
I agree....We are no longer a "by the people for the people" nation.
We've never been "for the people". Our founders were not salt of the earth benefactors. Post revolution was very much a continuation of the same. It took almost a century before people who didn't own land could vote. Our history has been riddled with socioeconomic class structures, it's no different today than it was 250 years. The only difference is that instant media gives access to the plight of others.
I challenge anybody who wants a perspective of American history by "The People" to read "a People's History of the United States", it won't take very long before you realize that we share the same problems today that our ancestors did. They were not in paradise, or even close.
History and fact shouldn't even be said in the same sentence... ;-(
Anonwhere the hell are all of you intelligent people coming from? I cant even log on eroids anymore without being impressed!
I forget to mention that Guns are the equalizer...
If your in need of equalizing.
I ve got a pretty nice arsenal... I didn;t say I need equalizing and I was referrring to the op's question do guns make us who we are... personally, with or without gun I m going to do what I do ....
You are making laugh so much! I love it. I am always carrying my Sig 228. I have taught my sons to shoot AK's, nines, 357's and AR 15's. They love and respect them and know what kind of damage they can do so they revere them. I want them to be prepared. They know how to clean, care and clear a weapon to make sure it is safe.
I have a concealed carry but don't carry very often .. I was in a gun waving stage for a bit and figured that would be a bad thing ;s
