What happens one week out from a show

ad
Default - Use Group's defaults.

By demand, I was asked what happens in the last week of my prep before stage time. Before I delve into this subject I want everyone to know that my situation will be different to another due to the exact needs as I enter the last 7 days.
The last 7 days is crucial and needs to be handled accordingly. Before setting out to do my prep I decided that I wanted to be ready one week out. By doing so I will know if I would need to manipulate sodium, water, and carb intake. By being ready with just a few things to tweak makes the process less stressful and the less amount of stress equals less cortisol damage. So after looking my physic over with other eyes we made plans accordingly.
Prior to entering the 7 days I was using 150mg of anadrol ED to keep fullness but this compound allows one to hold on to a little amount of water. Any amount can hide lines that are precious if you want to compete dry and feathered. So that was cut out on day 8.
Test Propionate was cut out 10 days out. Again testo effects estrogen and estrogen is responsible for several things and one is holding water. Test has to be taken out at least one week out.
Tren Ace can be used all the way up to the day of the show. This is good cause your body is so delicate that having this compound for support if priceless. Some will increase the dosage during this last week and some wont. Again it depends on the individual.
Winny orals also can be used till the day of the show.
Proviron, a good anti-estrogen is a must to have during this time. Normally one will want to crash the estro which will give the feathering effect you see on quads and triceps.
AI's is increased to ED at 1mg. This is also a good anti-estrogen and I believe it can be used up to the day of the show.
T3 which was at 50mcg will need to be decreased to 25mcg due to it's ability to make one hold water.
Clen is something that I'm not to sure about. I will use the first show as a gauge to see if I will need to drop it several days before the day. What ever went wrong before the first show can be corrected for the second.
Concerning training; No NO NO NO leg training should be done during this week. Allow the legs to fully recover and by doing so you will allow it to be in it's best condition for the day of the show. Since we are the subject of leg; no leg pumping exercise during the pump up back stage. Legs full of blood equals legs with less lines. So don't pump up legs.
The first three days of that week will be just circuit training. Nothing heavy! No need to tear muscle tissue while in this delicate state. Reps should be between 15-25. Whatever you wish just to put some blood into them and get a good calorie burn. Stimulate. Days 3,2 full rest. This is normally a time reserved for carb depletion and carb loading. But not for me this go around.
Food intake; should be minimum to survive and maintain current muscle mass. Nothing drastic for me. I eat the same as I did the week prior.
I hope I covered most of this topic. I will add to this if I left anything out. Writing this was a chore and need a break.

We all do slightly different things coming upto the day. But what should be kept in mind is dont over complicate things. its a simple thing and as such we generally feel that we need to do more. This isnt the case.

I'm assuming a fellow dht derivative like masteron would compare with proviron for the anti-estro capabilities, correct? And if so, could be run with tren till the day of the show?

Sure can.

A comment made below about Kia's trainer George. Now most of you guys may not remeber but an Amazing Ex IFBB pro by the name of Francis Benfato offers a service online. You keep in contact daily and also by using skype he gets to see you in real time. He discusses everything from diet to sups and ancillaries. Google him and see. I never saw an Olympia where he was out of shape. He always came in hard and dry. He aslo had in my eyes better shape the Labrada and very similar symmetry.

Any reason you prefer arimidex + nolva to crash estro over letro or aromasin? Or just personal preference?

phil113kg's picture

None of the above. Came down to availability. Plus I've never used Letro so I went with what I knew. Also keep in mind that I am running lots of proviron at this point, 150mg ED and you know it's an excellent anti-estro.

Well that certainly makes sense...don't mess with what works huh

phil113kg's picture

Especially no in this case. Hey by the way, thanks for keeping your questions simple.

levelup's picture

No problem...I try to figure out everything I can on my own. I realize the individual dependent aspect of it too

phil113kg's picture

You understand. The more I do this the more I find that it's the reality. I wonder what Kia Greene and his coach George Farah talk about as Kia is monitored on a weekly basis. I'm sure they discuss matters that only pertain to how Kia responds. You know, George is not cheap!! He takes over and becomes Kia's brain. So George can't take the same principles and apply them to Denis Wolf. I would love to be with them every step of the journey and have an inside glimpse of the whole process. Wouldn't you?

What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall during that prep. Kai is basically paying George to record his data from him and out it down on paper but that must be nice...always good to be able to have someone observe and point out things you may have missed

Me too bro. There would be so much I can learn and try on myself to see if it works or not.

Well put! Your knowledge is unmatched and helps the inexperienced more than you know.

thanks for the write up Phil!

can you explain what you mean when you say "days 4,5,6 full rest"? does it mean you take days off from training? or does it mean you should relax outside of training so that you are mentally prepared on the day of the show?

What has this post taught me? Phil knows his shit!

phil113kg's picture

Thanks bro. I wish I can spend more time on this but man the diet is keeping me low on energy. I will share more once I am stable and eating like a pig again.

No problem. Good luck man!
