Spotters and Max Efforts
WTF!
Haven't been doing a lot of Barbell flat bench in the last few weeks, been hitting the DBs and Cables and loving it. Came back to it last 2 workouts just to see. I was beast in the gym Wednesday night! BBL Liquidrol has been doing its job! I warm up with 135 x 10 2 sets, 225 x 10 feels light! I been shooting for 300 Flat bench for over a year now but injuries have kept me down. I'm thinking tonight is the night!!!! I ask my wife to spot me, and put on another pair of 25s, for 275. Line up on it and straight up no problem! I'm fucking giddy now! 300, you belong to me! Take my rest, 2-3 minutes, line up on it, take it down, right back, going up, start to slow, and my wife touches the bar! She says she just had her hands on it, and didn't help! (BUT IT DOESN"T COUNT CAUSE SHE TOUCHED IT!) She said she was afraid if I got stuck she wouldn't be able to get it up. I love her, and did not want to say anything and hurt her feelings, BUT I HAD THE ELUSIVE 300 I HAVE BEEN CHASING AND SHE TOOK IT FROM ME!!!!! AAAAHHHHHH! Alright I'm done venting now! Its my fault I didn't give her specific information. And I know its mine now! I will update in the next couple weeks with a big ass smile! Lesson is, teach your spotter what you want them to do!!!

Well, while waiting for my next chest w/o to take this 300, I figured if I felt this strong on the bench Wednesday lets get the Deadlift tonight. New personal best, 475!

Ive been chasing that 300 lbs too. My last cycle, I got up to 295 and got that for 2 reps. I went to 315 lbs thinking I could get that but got about halfway back up and couldn't do it. I wish I would have just tried 300 lbs because I know I woulda had it. You got that 300 Gorillafit.
Thanks Big, hitting the 295 for 2 reps took the energy. You have to go for the 300 after just a good warm up. I mess up like that on deadlift. I'll go for a max after repping a high ammt. Like trying 475 after doing 405 for 2. I'm gonna hit the 475 Deadlift tonight!

OH MAN!!! WTF!!! She can't take that shit from Gfit!!! If you had 275 without a hitch, then you had 300 all day. LOL...she got scared..FOR YOU!!...or something like that, that's love...LMAO!! She had doubts that you couldn't do it, shee-it. Well, there's always the next time brother...you got it.
I always ask this powerlifter guy in my gym to spot me when we are there at the same time...he instinctively KNOWS when I don't have the weight anymore and grips it up before it smashes down on me, lol.
Can't really blame her, (too much)! She's only 113lbs. I explained to her afterward, I don't need her to take the weight, just guide it back to the hooks. I know I have it now, no pain, it's mine!

Gonna up that deadlift record tonight! Forgot my straps last time, really need to work on my grip strength and technique! Here's a great wife, she asks if she can help when I deadlift. I told her maybe just catch me if I pass out. I don't wanna be on a viral youtube video! LOL ;-P
Even with he man grip....those straps are invaluable. Hard to concentrate on the target muscle when stressing slipping. ANd thats a bonus your lady works with ya!
teach the ones you know and dont grab some random ass dude cause youll be slowly pushing up that weight and hell just fucking grab it. nothing i hate more than going for max and some bozo grabs it when im still pushing it up....way it sounds you have 300 no problem man just hit it next time
No, wouldn't pick a random guy. The thought of having some guys junk hovering over my face is not conducive to max effort! LOL ;-P
