Peanut butter good or bad?

ad

I see a mate of mine chugging down tub fulls of this stuff. Says it's the best alternative when u feel like eating a piece of something bad like chocolate or cake.

He's been blast 'n cruising for years and has a pretty respectable physique. So I decide to give this stuff a try.

Been doing lots of reading and getting opposing opinions on if PB actually makes u fat or good for u. So wanna hear what everyone thinks. Good or bad?

Cheers,

Fellas, little trick I have come up with is when you open up a new jar of PB all natural and have the serparation, spend a couple minutes mixing it up well and refrigerate it. Now when you go to take it out for use, microwave for 15-20 seconds and it will soften up nice for easy scooping and won't tear apart of piece of bread when trying to spread it. Refrigerating will keep the oil from separating again. Enjoy! CHUNKY RULES!! HAHA

almond butter> PB...its pretty much ALL mono/poly fats. get the natty kind.

Yeah, I got a tub the other day and it was only slightly better than eating glue. I brought it back to the shop and returned it. Now on the commercial 'light' variety. Still pretty high in protein tho

Actually the light p b has more unhealthy fats than natural... I buy Jif natural. It's the lowest soduim out of all of them and I think it tastes good I eat the stuff everyday. P b sandwich big glass of milk for a snak.

Unhealthy fats as in polysaturated etc?

Light peanut butter contains hydrogenated vegetable oil. hydrogenation is adding hydrogen atoms to unsaturated fat. This process creates trans-fatty acids. Trans-fats are the ones that are linked to heart disease. These are the artery clogging fats. Although the light pb has 4g less fat than natty, the fat that you do get is much worse for your body. Natty pb is widely accepted as being a healthier choice. I learned about the this from Grrrl, I used to eat the light too, till she told me to look at the hydrogenated veg oil, and sodium... Most pb has 200mg+ sodium per serving, Jif Natural has 35mg... I read my laels close as hell these days, it's almost alarming how much sodium is in packaged/processed foods.
