+ 1 What are your thoughts on steroids being used by athletes i.e Dwain Chambers and Justin gatlin in the 100m?

ad

I think AAS have their place obviously, however I believe with athletes such as Dwain Chambers who failed blood tests for steroids and Justin Gatlin who denied being aware of using testosterone although his blood levels were certainly elivated beyond what could be naturally accounted for.... so he had test injections...clearly, and for his cheating recieved a lengthy ban as a result i think this puts a tarnish on the sport and such athletes should not be able to even compete in the 100m on a professional level and I think Gatlins bronze should have went to Tyson Gay who has always been very professional and popular and in the olympics there should be no place for steroid fueled athletes, a hollow bronze IMO no offence to anyone in the USA youz had a worthy bronze with Gay but Gatlin shouldn't have ran nor should Chambers been allowed to do so in qualifying... bolt dont need gear and he can't be touched lol
Steroids have their place.... its not in the olympic games.

First modern olympic games were held in 1896 so no steroids on the scene then so why should there be now the olympics and gear dont go hand in hand there worlds apart and should never cross paths else the olympics would be a pile of crap a bad example to children and youngsters in sport feeling the need to get the edge like the rest of the sheep then youd have such as the wealthiest and most technologically advanced countrys wiping the floor with the lesser oposition countrys in terms of money is power literally because they could fund new designer steriods and athletes could afford them and therefore win... Nah

They used a mixture of coke(drug not the drink) and wine and a shit load of over drugs for mixtures to give them the edge back then tho start as you meen to go on they started with drugs and false edges loads of folk died aswell it will allways be that way to much money in the olympics allways gna be shady stuff going on.

Yeah your rite whenever there's been an "edge" for an athlete to over exceed their natural capabilities then there been guys that have listened to the devil on their shoulder even in the olympics, but there were no steroids as such stimulants like as you say and also some used amphetamines and trimethyl and nicotinyl tartrade. A cyclist in the 1960 olympic games from Denmark whilst in a road race died under suspicious circumstances... his post mortem resultsshowed he had high levels of amphetamins and the the nicotinyl tartrade which were used to increase stamina and pain tollerance... how we've moved on ey

Read my post properly before attempting to schoolboy educate me im 27 not 17 and for all you dwain chambers fans out there willing to put me in my place I said he "failed blood tests for steroids" as he openly admitted to the WADA that he "used a cocktail of anabolics" I did not say he was on testosterone injections at all so i think somebody had a go at setting me straight but didnt bother to read the original post I submited or getting their facts straight by reading what I did state before jumping to a failed athletes defense ..... I said Gatlin was on testosterone as he clearly was.... not Chambers.
And on a last note steroid olympics would be a good laugh yeah but real athletes would go to shit overnight and the olympic games would be a mockery IMO. Not a honest competition Mr olympia.. No probs with that the arnold classic, worlds strongest man but no cheats in the olympics please.

I think what people really want out of the Olympics is a level playing field. So why not just let them all use whatever they want? Everyone would then have the same chance at gold and we would not need to worry about trying to weed out cheaters.

Mind boggler this one....hmm steroids are no good in the olympics people who use them should get banned simple as that but then what happens if bolts been on them thrw his life on and off giving him dat little bit extra and just neva tested positive.Same goes for ova athletes if we had a steroid olympics it would be belta to watch but what about the people who dnt want to use steroids the normal olympics would go to shit cuz who would want to watch that when they can watch 500 pound boxers punch each ova 13 feet in the air and sprinters run faster than cheetahs...the olympics is about pushing your body to its limits of what you where born with not using aas to give you extra limits you should not have. But we all know deep down the olympics is full of juice monkeys and people cheating and people getting payed to keep there gobs shut and let this all happen its not as clean and and sugar sweet as people think as most will know we can only guess who is clean and who is not.

Juice and olympics go hand in hand. At that level they gotta heal fast...be fast....etc

Before steroids could have even been a factor to influence athletics, any disciplin of sport and of course the big one the olympics the pride of a Winner and their nation would be down to natural ability and not a chemical advntage... I'm sure the best athletes of the old days still went fast and healed at a natural level, an equal playing-field.
I'm all for steroids on a scientific perspective they are the edge needed for powerlifting and bodybuilding and do make you in essence super human.
Should not be in the olympics or any event that does not allow steroid use, but raw truth is unfortunate as I'm sure all sports are riddled with AAS, even golf lol

I think the current status quo is a pretty odd and bureaucratic system. This is true for all tested sports because I think we're lying to ourselves if we think for a second that athletes at all levels, especially professionals, are not indulging in some sort of "enhancement." That being said I don't think it is right to just let everyone pump themselves full of all the juice they can. While I do agree that watching roid Olympics would be amazing it would set a precident that all aspiring athletes would have to follow. You would end up with very young athletes using roids because they know that is what it takes to make it there. Especially in a world where athletes that are destined to go pro are groomed from grade school. I think that it works that athletes only have access and know how to use under the radar later on in life. In the end the only people that get drag netted are the ones who aren't smart enough to get away with it. They serve as an encintive for the younger athletes to stay away from gear if only for a little while.
