Dogs

The topic of Dog help came up recently and I am a Dog man. I fricken love dogs. I need a dog because I need that constant assurance of unconditional love. I'm sorry. I'm insecure. That's just the way that I roll.
Just a few questions out of curiosity:
What kind of dog do you have?
What breed of dog is in your opinion the Ideal breed and why?

Me, I'm a labrador retriever man. Why? Because they are smart, great hunters, easy going, look beautiful, and are execellent with people.
I am very particular with my labradors though. Right now you find two sub-types of Labradors, the field trial labrador aka American Labrador and the Show type labrador aka the English labrador. Fine breedings usually separate the two. However there are a few that breed both traits and that is what I like. I need the English looks with the American skills.
So I'm rambling. Your turn.

I have a blue pitt. After having her for 4 or 5 months now I think pitts are the best breed out there. They are very smart and easy to train (except sit lol) They also know when to be serious and when to be playful. Also they are the most protective dogs their are. And they are fearless in some situations
And they are physically superior to any other breed. Exspecially the blue pitts. Mine has yet to be matched in speed by any dog including other pits and when she play she can knock down dogs much bugger than her. The breed holds up like a tank

We had a collie from 10 months old his former owner was a farmer who was killed in an accident so he came trained to round up sheep :-) great dog, had to have him put to sleep recently though :,-(

Our old neighbour had an Akita which was freaking huge, we kept a few chickens loose in the garden for eggs and they got a bit close to the fence and there where some squawks then a burp and a poof of feathers from next door..... No more chickens!!!

I have a German Shepherd. I just think they are beautiful. They are good protectors! Very smart and athletic. I needed a dog that would love me unconditionally and protect my family. I also love pits, they are prob the friendliest dogs I have ever had. I have had two pits in the past, but now only have a german shepherd.

I have a 6yr old today actually 7/31 Yellow almost white Lab female . We play fetch like 200x a day. she sleeps w/ me, eats what I eat(plus her dog food), goes most places I go, doesnt need a leash, stays within 2' of me everywhere we go. no matter if there's another dog or not. Vet said she is in perfect shape, ideal weight. I have a cat left behind by my ex-wife a couple years ago too, he's cool for a cat, but the cat hasnt been to the vet for 3yrs now ever since ex left. shhhh.

think that's pretty funny do ya... How about this, I got to make car payments for a year on an altima that I couldnt even see let alone drive or ride in. I'm not bitter. I would piss on her, but not if she was on fire.

German Shepherd, east european working line. Training for Shutzhund. He is the most loyal dog I have ever had. My boy, training partner. He loves to work and train. Beautiful red sable color and very smart.
Awesome dog.

Love my Doberman. Sweetest dog in the world, unless he thinks you're messing with my girl or I...

My family has one. It is incredibly smart. Also wants to be with or on someone at all times

I love the labs the older guys bring to the gun club. They take orders like marines, follow thru and cant wait to accomplish their mission.
My sister trained afew labs to be working dogs for the blind, I swear by the time she handed them over they were like 4legged people. .
. . . . only with more common sense. Dads old golden, Rusty was no slouch either, knock a duck down and he'd run wide circles getting tighter and tighter and would not come back till he found his prize.

Butvwhile I'm ramblin I must say my favs to watch are the bully breeds doing the weighted pull. Its not cruel most dogs look to really enjoy it and look like they love the attention, fighting on the other hand is un acceptable.

And of course watching the long jumping labs , do their thing into the pool is freakin amazing.

Cheers to all responsible pet owners.

boxers are pretty awesome dogs. That are lean and very powerful. Strong chest and legs, very fast, loyal and can be agressive when necessary.

But most the time they are just happy and like to play.
