Anyone else here stretch and do it often?
It seems to relieve alot of pressure off my head for some reason.
Also I always had the conception that it would lengthen and enlarge a muscle?

that's what its all about...you helped me out earlier this week/last weekend!!!
So much to learn......now if I'd hurry the hell up and finish the degrees for sports med. Maybe get paid to help folks. Lol
fuckin right man...I just have studied for a fitness trainer cert. in the past. The rest of the stuff I know is from doing my own research, discussing with whoever has an idea about sports sciences and experimenting with myself to find what works and doesn't. I get fired up about stuff like this. It's one of the rare things I have an extreme passion for!!
Luckily most of the folks here share experiences. Some of the advice the youngsters throw out.....very happy to see one of the gurus state the facts. When i was young there wasn't easy to find advice.
In this day and age, the information access is a MEGA-SUPER expressway on tornado juice LSD...for all the downfalls of that come with technology overload, there did come some advantages for us. Even just over ten years ago, (IMO)...the facts and advice weren't as readily available as it is today. I mean, holy shit, were just sitting here typing away a bunch of BS that hypothetically could save somebody from REALLY screwing themselves up for good...maybe not on this board but ALL the other ones as a whole on eroids!!
Bingo!
Yes-sir!!
Uhhh...stretching is one of the big3 fundamentals of training. 1 being resistance training, 2 being cardiovascular training and 3 being (of all things) stretching!!! Don't take my word for it though, I didn't write it...its in the books! I usually stretch after workouts to move around waste products, such as lactic acid and others and aids in the 'pulling in' effect of nutrients to replenish the spent stores from workout. It all depends really as I cycle my training ALOT...before this run when I would do days of nothing BUT cardio, I would stretch like a beast after. For some reason I am always more limber after a good cardio workout. Also, stretching is going to alleviate the buildup of scar tissue and reduce your frequency of developing 'knots' in the muscle tissue. On leg days though, I always incorporate a real minor strectch incorporated in my warmup...to me the legs is a WHOLE different ball of wax and I have found that some light stretches open my hips up and make squatting a little easier. Tight hips are going to hurt your squat game something fierce. I don't know I could go on forever about stuff like this...BUT in a nutshell that's how I feel about it and that's my .02 cents!!
DT-SwoleStretching on off days would be fine, but yeah stretching preworkout would loosen the muscle making it easier to tear.
When i was younger i read Parillos writings because minor pulls/injuries. Use shoulder rotations etc as example followed by light warmup set prior to heavy lifts. The joints cease heavy bllodflow as muscles demand more. The rotations limber you enough and get bloodflow into the joints. Only stretch after completion of entire workout as then theres many benefits. Stretching after squeezes out the excess blood and lactic acid buildup....which then refills the muscles with a greater supply of fresh blood/nutrients for recovery and less next day soreness. And you're correct.....stretching makes for a longer Fuller muscle. Folks stretching preworkout are prone to ligaments being torn as when you stretch....they also stretch. If ligaments are loose they don't hold the joint in place as well.
Rotate n warmup........stretch and whey/fluids after.
No1I dont usually stretch much, alot of people say stretching before a workout increases chances of injury
I just warm up with really light weight, especially my delts.
I'm pretty sure than anyone who knows what they're doing here is stretching
DT-SwoleI try to stretch for 30 mins on my off days. It helps alot with my circulation!
Yeah bro i try and stretch after every set, helps get more blood into the muscle.
