Results from MRI: Distal Clavicular Osteolysis. Anybody have experience with this

ad

I have already done physical therapy which did not help because I did not have ligament or tendon problems. It just seems you have to jump through hoops to get an MRI. Have to love insurance agencies. Distal Clavicular Osteolysis. Also known as "weightlifters shoulder". Basically it means that were my collar bone has tiny little fractures at the end of it were it connects with the AC Joint. What causes it is repetitive trauma or stress from from lifting.

My question being has anybody had experience with this. My doc is suggesting taking off another 4 months from bench press and see how it feels. Im wondering If I went ahead and had the surgery would I be better of 4 months from now. I have the green light do other weight training (light weight). My doc said patience which I do not have much of.

It is a procedure where Bone Marrow is extracted from your hip. The stem cells are moved and injected into the area of trouble. This procedure is normally married with Platelet rich blood plasm. incredible stuff, they are putting you back into you. I had the PRP done on a shoulder tendon and several other tendons and stayed away from the surgeon.

You only have two shoulders, its sounds like only one works, why risk doing more injury to an already damaged shoulder, take some time off bro, i know it sucks but sometimes you have to bite the bullet.

He said that the surgery is quite simple but with me being only 28 you want that to be a last resort. Thats more than likely what I need to do. Along with changing my bench technique. I think that will be the most difficult part. When you have been benching one way your entire life.
