I was wondering if anyone in here lives in the Bay county area of Florida... I'm currently in KY, however with recent incidents, and efforts to stay clean with a change in environment and a fresh start, I'm moving to Florida. My daughters mom (we have been split up for years and she is married now) approached me with the idea of the both of us moving there for a number of reasons, one being my most recent relapse a while back that I posted about. The thing is, they will be moving there as a family, I will be moving alone aside from my daughter having days with me throughout the week

Thank you all I really appreciate you all reaching out there's a lot of excited about and then a lot I'm nervous about but I think I will be all right it's just the pressure of having to find a job as soon as possible no matter what it is, And I'm without a vehicle at the moment, but the sober living house it's through Oxford House, looks like it's pretty nice and the guys from what I can tell seem pretty cool. I plan on being a lot more active in this group and forum to stay connected with you guys. I use the meeting guide app, it shows all the meetings in an area.i use it to link up with the sober community wherever I happen to be.
I think only you can really answer how you feel about doing this mate, is there any particular reason why she is wanting to move to Florida given the current Hurricane that is happening there? Its almost like your ex-wife is giving you no choice but to move there if you want to continue being a part of your daughters life.
I just know that I've put them through a lot, and the fact that she even still talks to me is a miracle my friend. And I can't argue that a fresh start, new environment would be a bad thing for me as well. I hope everything has been going well you press!
Tbh then it sounds like it will be a great step forward for you buddy, fresh start and new surroundings - let go of the past. You will naturally meet new friends and people when you move there, I wouldn't worry about that. Joining a gym will help and if you find a local AA meeting you know how many new people those things will bring into your life very quickly if you want them to. Just don't get in with any of the wrong kind of people, if you suspect early on that they use or drink then keep your distance from them as they will bring no good for you. Things haven't been that great for the past month mate with one thing and another, but things move on. Can always be a lot worse

Thank you for responding, and just being alone, new state, no friends, no family, I'm not sure how much I'm gunna get my daughter at first, and it is Panama City, so I guess there's that lol
