+ 1 Pin advice from a professional in the industry
Hey guys, I work full time as the Product Manager for a medical equipment company and we have a very high demand for syringes. As a result I am constantly evaluating new and different syringes for my company to market based on cost/quality.
I wanted to post this because I see a lot of guys spending the extra penny on big brand names like BD. Since I have a wealth of first hand, professional experience evaluating syringes and pins I wanted to give everyone some info and points on the high dollar syringes and how to identify high quality "generics" that can save you a pretty penny.
First and foremost, just about any syringe you buy comes from China. Even if it says made in America, it probably comes from China. The rules so far add what is required to label something as an American product are laughably lax. This includes the big boys like BD and Covidean. Further, many of these syringes are literally produced in the same factory and go down different lines after production where they get different labels. Same f----n thing with a different package. Third, 90% of the safety/quality metrics are based on the safety of a caregiver administering a shot and not accidentally sticking themselves. While it is true that safety syringes are now required in all US Healthcare facilities, the standard syringes are still out there, marketed as the safest, sterilist (I know, I made that word up) thing in the world and are just no longer marketed to facilities.
Finally, if a manufacturer claims to "make thier own products" and charge more for that- they don't. They just bought the contract manufacturer in Asia that was making them, put thier name on the building, bolster thier marketing campaigns and charge more for the same shit.
Finally, if you want quality, just do a little research and find out if it is an FDA approved product. If it is, it's the same quality as anything else out there. Products bought and sold in the US are produced to FDA standards and not an inch above. I promise.
Again, I buy millions of dollars worth of syringes every year for the corporate distributor that I work for. I visit manufacturing plants in Asia, go to worldwide trade shows, hammer out contracts with the CEOs and CEOs of these companies and know the healthcare equipment/supply market and the FDA like the back of my hand.
I don't want to come off as telling anyone what to do, I just thought this would be a helpful post since I have a pretty unique knowledge of the subject.
P.S.- I am typing this on my phone at work so please forgive me for any spelling or auto correct mistakes. Pm if you ever have a question.
Best regards fellas,

Pretty good for doing this on your phone....lol!!
Good post. Is NIPRO any good?
Haha thanks! Yeah, NIPRO is pretty solid. They actually custom make products for big corporations that can order in enough volume to justify it as well at producing thier own brand. The fact that companies trust them to design products they put thier name on says a lot.
Telford786So do you have any recommendations as to which are the best brands of syringes that you could recommend? Like if you use them, which brand do you use ? Thanks
I have personally used:
-Teurmo
-NIPRO
-Sol-Millenium
-Ulticare
-Duopross
-Monoject (Covidean)
I would recommend them all. They all have a wide product range but I would recommend any of thier products because I know they hold high quality standards in manufacturing. Never tried BD just because I know it's not a good fit for my company so it would be a waste of time for me to talk to them or evaluate the products. They are the industry standard though so I would definitely recommend them. They are just overpriced in my opinion so I steer clear.
