This might be a hit, might not. But I have a deep seeded interest in certain plants and I've been meaning to seek out like minded individuals. Actually, i'm interested in plants that serve any medicinal purpose. Most of what western medicine calls voodoo or bullshit usually has some abilities they want you to steer clear of. If it gets the powers that be to comment about it, it gets my attention because they don't waste their time on things that don't work. But they'll use all their might to spew propaganda on why you shouldn't use this or that because it scares the shit out of them. So post away if you've become a member. At the moment you have free range. Anything that is a plant is fair game. Medicinal mariuana plants? Fine. Some natural anticeptic? Cool. A psychoactive plant? Nice! I'm all ears. What interests you? What do you use? Why? Fire away...

Anyone got a remidy for the flu?? I need it

Anonymous's picture

Ya bro it's gunna be painful tho:(
This is what sis showed me.

Hot water bottles at least 4. Ace bandages to wrap yourself tight with steaming hot water bottles on you. Not directly on skin cuz you will burn yourself. You'll need to get some blankets to wrap over the bandages and water bottles. You'll want to stay wrapped like a tamale for at least 10-15minutes or until you've worked up a good lather of sweat. You should do this at least 3-4 times a day until your fever breaks.
She also showed me to make chamomile face steams. You can also use Thyme Rosemary and oregano. But I like chamomile. Go to the natural food store and buy bulk loose chamomile. Makes for a great tasting tea also. I would just grab a big handful and not measure how much to put into a large bowl of steaming water and put your face directly over the hot steam and inhale deeply with a thick towel over you entire head and face. If you don't have a towel big enough ad thick enough use a thick blanket. The chamomile will break up any congestion in the lungs and remember to keep the water steaming hot. It will hurt but watch all of the gunk come pouring out of your nose and mouth. Don't hold back and try and be neat about it. Blow all that shit out into the bowl.

She also brought me loose anise for tea to help with any stomach pains and cramps.
Echinacea is also damn good at helping with the flu. Get some Elderberry cough syrup which will help lesson the duration of your symptoms. It will also soothe your throat.
Hydrate and don't forget about vitamins. Vitamins D3, C and zinc.
So sum it up. Sweat out the fever. Steam out the chest gunk with loose herbs like chamomile or a mix of thyme Rosemary and oregano. Elderberry cough syrup to treat symptoms and soothing the throat. Stay Hydrated and consume lots of flu fighting vitamins like VitD3/VitC/Zinc. Oh and this isn't natural but you can't Go wrong with Vicks on the chest. I hate being sick but Vicks reminds me of my grandma so I use it everytime I'm sick. It's a staple in my house.

Carlos Danger has a hippy in his family. She hooked me up with a bunch of shit in the past. Ask him to post up

The Impastable's picture

I'm interested in botanicals because I don't want to end up being as reliant on pharmaceutical medicines the way my family was. My mother for example is on blood pressure medication for life, and both sides of the family have a history of migraines. Unfortunately I hppened to inherit some less than spectacular genetics, and I have also suffered from some debilitating migraines even at my age. I have taken subq sumatriptan shots to alleviate the pain before, but the side effects from these leave me feeling shittier than the headache! It leaves my entire body in pain, every muscle fiber feels like it's tearing. I refuse to take any more sumatriptan, and just because a doctor prescribes something doesn't mean shit to me anymore.

I've discovered herbal teas and remedies, accupuncture, while not eliminating the headaches, surely make going through them easier. There's a reason these things are banned, and I'm happy things are slowly trying to change. There already exist alternatives to pharmaceutical company meds, why should it be illegal to use them.

How bout that new shit that looks like taffy?

MedDx's picture

Shatter....

juiceball8082's picture

Yes sir!

Nitti's picture

Elaborate

juiceball8082's picture

I seen it on drugs Inc last. All I know is they some how melt the pot down with some other ingredients, dangerous process and it turns into like a brown waxy sheet of paper. It's suppose to be like 6 to 8 times stronger then medicinal products that they have now.

BHO or wax is another term. It is basically straight THC. I suppose you could in a round about way say people are medicating with it but really in my opinion it is more about just getting really high. It is also terribly hard on the lungs. Technology of course is moving quickly with it and nowadays you can buy a vape pen preloaded with it. For a moderate user about a gram of it will last a month or so.

HailRazor's picture

I think that's what Kat Williams tripped out on. That shit right there....right there...that shit. Smile he wasn't ready for it.

juiceball8082's picture

Yeah didn't know much about it but was really interested. They say that shit is way more expensive.

Pale's picture

You can make it with trim but the highest quality is made from buds and it takes about an oz of bud to make 3-4 grams of wax. That is why it is so expensive.

humpnpump's picture

Is this the same as hash, I know it's basically resin from the buds. Potent stuff.

tonytulo's picture

way stronger than hash. Night and day if done right.

Anonymous's picture

Ya it's too strong bro. I don't like it. I'd rather smoke my joints old school and hope I get the giggles. As much wax as I've tried (more than a couple dozen times) I have yet to get
The giggles. I was always way too high to have any kind of fun. Try working out on that shit. I've always been able to lift after smoking bud. But wax? I can barely move my feet let alone do anything rigorous.

Pale's picture

I couldn't agree more. The wax or BHO is good for travel when you cannot risk carrying bud but that is really the only use I have for it. I used to take it with us to the DR or Mexico but I don't even bother anymore. I can go a week without just fine.

I actually stopped growing altogether last spring. I needed a break after 11 years or so of non stop growing. Man what a relief I felt for awhile. But then I started to remember how much I have enjoyed growing top shelf MMJ over the years and the experimentation, the breeding, all of it. The only thing I have truly hated is trimming. So I started back up again with some seed crosses I have made over the years a few months back. (within my legal limits) I changed a bunch of things around with this fresh start and you know what? I am having fun again with it. A year ago I wasn't sure if that was still possible. Unfortunately it won't be until February before I get to sample these new pheno's but I am still pretty pumped.

tonytulo's picture

It is a typical way of many people, if one is good , two are great , and five are the best, always wanting more. Many cannot handle it. When you concentrate something down to the point where you are taking multiple ounces and pounds etc to make something 1 tenth of its originally weight and size the potency goes through the roof , and of course many think it'll be ok to do what they think is a normal amount but what they fail to realize is it isn't normal to began with , you have now taken something from its original state and manufactured something much more powerful , and it went from natural to unnatural quick fast and in a hurry. It only hurts the legalization status in the long run because too many people lose their shit with it, or cannot handle it and have adverse effects , so the government will deem it "dangerous" just wait and see , sadly people have little self control and don't educate themselves on it so they have no idea what they're getting themselves into with it. They will end up deeming it an over dose eventually because if you look up the definition of the word over dose it is "too great a dose (as of a therapeutic agent) also a lethal or toxic amount (as of a drug) an excessive quantity or amount , as well as unwanted adverse effects. Believe me the government will be all over it and demonize it . I believe if you don't look into something and just dive head first into it its natural selection , you made the choice without knowing facts. Personally don't like it but to each their own some do and i believe if they like it let em like it , no need to demonize it imo. Just my take on the stuff bro.

Crazy

Pale's picture

LOL, yea it is basically 100% THC. It definitely gets you very high, but truth be told the highest I have ever been on MJ is with the edibles. You can get well past the point of uncomfortable.

tonytulo's picture

absolutely

juiceball8082's picture

Yeah a buddy of mine gets his shit from Colorado and he said all he needed to eat was one foot off a gummy bear lol.

Gymjunkie01's picture

no shit I have never been high lmao that's the truth there

Pale's picture

I started pretty young to be honest, but I always took care of my responsibilities. I only do business with a stone cold sober mind. After a long hard day and a hard session in the gym I do still enjoy it. And it sure does help get the hunger ramped up.

tonytulo's picture

i use the lollipops for this , and thc gel tabs.

flacidego's picture

What interests me about ethnobotanicals? Healing the causes instead of just symptoms and higher consciousness/mental health.

flacidego's picture

Anyone here used kratom? Great stuff to relieve pain without the opiate hangover. The active mytraginine triggers the opioid receptors and is effective like poppy tea, but less taxing to the body's systems.

Gymjunkie01's picture

Golden seal Root.. The root is harvested in the fall and dried and brewed .. It's been used as a pain releaver for hundreds of years . its found all over but its very plentiful in the appalchian region. my grandmother would use it every morning to relieve arthritis pain. the effects last 4-5 hours before its needed again

humpnpump's picture

Never heard of it used as pain reliever, but i have used golden seal to pass drug screens. Ginseng root is also common in the Appalachians is great for balancing your hormone levels and to bring cortisol levels down. I use it in pct sometimes.

Gymjunkie01's picture

yes its a great pain reliever I haven't used it in years but as a kid we was poor and my grandmother would give it to us is we had a head ache or just minor pain the root has to be boiled or steeped to get the bennifits out of it

Pale's picture

Besides being a long time medicinal marijuana grower/activist I have played with several different plants and mushrooms that have medicinal properties. I have kind of slacked off a bit the last couple years but for awhile I was turning into quite the shaman, lol.

Mushrooms in particular have many different healing properties or benefits to us. Chaga mushrooms are one that is of particular interest. I have found a few of them but we just don't have enough mature birch trees around close to home. This winter I will have to go up north and search around some bigger and older woods for some. Chaga's make the highest antioxidant known and have many documented cases of serious anti cancer properties. But even popular mushrooms like Morels have medicinal uses.

Another plant that is completely demonized that I often grow out in the summer is good ole Popaver Somniferum , aka Opium poppy. I don't ever grow enough to make heroin or anything like that but you can save the dried seed pods and make tea with them. Now this tea can be very potent so it does carry some danger but it is also a kick ass cough suppressant. Better than anything OTC. The only downside in my experience with it is the "waking sleep". It is like you are wide awake in your dream, you wake up like you didn't sleep at all. It is really weird.

flacidego's picture

Haha! I love the "nod" I get from poppy tea. I used to grow med grade cannabis, 5 strains of magic mushrooms, and I've extracted dmt from mimosa bark a couple times. Nice to see another basement shaman of sorts on the board!

Pale's picture

Yea my state has been med legal now for awhile but I was growing long before that. I do not miss the nightmares of being raided I used to get. Truthfully I did not really believe in the medical aspect of cannabis until I started making edibles for my Dad towards the end of his life. I was shocked how well it worked for him. I also had a little old lady (83) we installed a roof for that had recently had back surgery and was literally in tears with pain. I asked her how she felt about MMJ and if she was willing to try it? Her daughter was already one of my patients so I cleared it with her as well. Mind you this old gal had never used MJ EVER. So I had my wife make a batch of cookies for her and upon giving them to her I told her I am going to call you after an hour or so and make sure you are ok. So I call her about 1:15 later and asked her how she was feeling and to my relief she said "I feel awesome". That was honestly one of my best moments.

We have also infused MJ and Osha root into emu oil and made a pain relieving skin lotion that is nothing short of amazing for arthritis.

flacidego's picture

I'm glad your father and the nice old lady were able to be medicated. Nice! I love medicating people and watching the quality of their lives improve. The state I'm in it's still illegal, both medicinal and recreational

Pale's picture

Well hopefully yours is one of the ones on the hit list to change that.

Nitti's picture

My man! I'm a newb in this area buat I got initially fired up looking into Terrence McKenna after reading the Arcaic revival.

At the moment it's an open group. We'll see how that goes. Still invite only but everyone can see it. If we need to change that we will.

Pale's picture

Yea, I read all of the Carlos Castaneda (Teachings of Don Juan) books when I was younger. I have not made it down there to the desert southwest yet but one of my bucket list items is to try Mescalito (peyote) and see if the spirit animal excepts me or not. I have not used DMT yet either but like you I have heard Rogan's words and I am very curious.

I do have experience with LSD, but have not really used psylociben, the opportunities I had to try it were just not good for me so I declined. One of the coolest experiences with LSD I had was with my high school girlfriend, we were in a good place at the time with no secrets or negative energy. One hit apiece and what and amazing experience we had together. But later with another group that did have secrets and negative energy I also had one of my worst experiences with psychedelics. One thing they taught me is all of us are connected on a higher level, we just don't use it much and most don't even know how.

Nitti's picture

I edited when I realized the group was open. I'll aborate again later.
