Working out with mask on

ad

So my gym is open now and that’s great. But they’ve now made it mandatory to wear a mask at all times. Anybody else having this issue? I sweat a lot and breathe hard without a mask. Looking like I’ll have to do more work at home until I can adjust. Does anybody have any mask cheats that can help with my breathing?

The same problem I'm facing with my mask. Its very hard for me to do exercise while wearing mask. So I planned to buy some important equipment and do exercise in my home gym.

In France also especially in my city we must have obligatory mask in the street and closed place.

On the other hand, when I train on a station I withdraw it.

Very bad in the long term to breathe the air you breathe out.

Already the carbon dioxide may increase which can cause concern at the level of PH in the blood.

And on cardio exercises I think this is very bad too much less oxygen.

Yes, it is very difficult to exercise with a mask. Especially in cardio work you need to pay attention. I saw on the news that a man running with a mask had his lung blown out. You have to pay attention to that.

That’s crazy. Haven’t heard that.

They do make us pass a breathing test because of the potential heart risk and diminished lung capacity over time due to dust exposure. Have to blow into this machine with a fairly large tube for 8 seconds without stopping and they want a high peak initially. It’s not easy to maintain. But I’m a Blowhard as you can see so it’s no problem for me lol.

Yes, it certainly is. So let's be careful. You can look it up online and see the news.

Come on bro it's a good cardiovascular workout, Admittedly it's mainly working your diaphragm but none the less it increases the over all nature of the cardio during your workout.

I do my cardio at home, if you don’t have equipment you can run outside. When I go back to the gym I’ll have to wear one. I wear one while doings strenuous activity at work under conditions where people want to wear one. I think you’ll be able to get used to it, absent cardio. Just put it out of your mind and focus on feeling it in your muscles. You know, connect your body with your mind. If your home setup is sufficient, that’s probably the better option anyway right now.

Yeah I’m running around the lake right now and doing lots of swimming for cardio. Still hitting the gym to lift though. I don’t have much of a home setup due to space.

I’m about the same boat as you. I do have a multi positional bench and power block dumbbells with the 70 expansion kit. So I thought I’d be ok for a bit. However, Amazon sent me two different power block dumbbells so the expansion kit doesn’t fit and I have to put it on a scale to weight them out so they are the same. Got them 4 years ago so of course they won’t do anything about it. Never tried to use them till the gym closed lol. Always check your stuff throughly I guess

I’m about as lucky as a leprechaun who’s lost his lucky coin sometimes, oh well.

I’m [in] about the same boat as you...

Come on man, He just said he was "running around the lake" and "doing a lot of swimming"... how could he be in the same boat as you?

Man’s got a point

maddogg's picture

Haha, that pretty good, similar as in still going to the gym, not the best home sit-up. Now I’m going to have to thumb up you and look like a suck up.

I use a flip-up visor face shield. $10-13 on Ebay. Much easier to breath and use than a cloth mask. Simply flip up when you need to drink water. Flip down when there's a crowd around you. When using a cloth mask, you keep touching it to adjust to fit right, and remove to drink. More chance of contamination when touching it. Check with your gym first if ok to use.

Thanks. I’ll look into that. Maybe I can snag one.

That sounds like a good idea. Only thing is It probably protects other people from you more than you, but if everyone does it then everyone’s safer.
