+ 1 The "Band" Wagon

ad

Normally I don't push alot of heavy weight on the flat bench due to shoulder problems. Ive had to face the music, years of injuries and getting older has taken its toll.. I never push past 245lb without joint pain. A sixty plus yr old man had been watching and took pity on me. He was far from ordinary, built like a brick house and fit as a fiddle... No homo... He introduced me to Mark bells sling shot. We set up 275lbs, I put on the sling shot band, and knocked out 3reps with ease. My shoulders felt great and my form was fine tuned. I didn't max out, but just pushing the additional weight (pain free) was awesome.

Now I had to get me one of these. After getting online to buy one of these bands, I was bombarded with a multitude of bands. Powerlifting bands, Resistance bands, assistance bands, and Let's not forget the bands we use for therapeutic mobility. Bands that are flat, tubular, looped, figure 8, elastic wraps, and even the compression sleeves. All having different resistance levels of elasticity from materials such as fabric, plastic, rubber, and latex. I found what I was looking for. There were plenty of options and prices. I went with the "Original Sling Shot" and also got some wrist wraps to help with some of my pull exercises.

So to end this, my "band" wagon consist mostly of compression sleeve bands for warmth and blood flow to my joints. Some tube resistance bands to jazz up my home gym, and now this awesome Slingshot band for my chest jam sessions.

What bands are yall rocking and how are they working for u?

I can't remember if you have ever said you run trenbolone mate? If you don't then it is a truly great healer of tendons and joints I have found, especially if it is coming from nagging injuries. When I did my chest and shoulder in I just knocked things down to basic test and npp and found my chest soreness was just never healing in the tear area along with the lump formed from the torn muscle sticking out. As soon as I started running tren even though I wasn't lifting the muscle and tendons fused back together in no time I kid you not. Same for my shoulder cuff, constantly sore and impeding workouts on test and npp. Add in tren and the thing just healed up! Makes sense really - we use it to repair muscle torn in workouts so why not when you are sat around injured. The bond created within the muscle is also so much stronger. Another God send I began performing were dumbell laterals to the front, sides and rear after a chest workout, do not do shoulder presses. Just go to the weight that your weakest shoulder can handle and after a warm up set do 1 set of 10 reps for each of the three parts making sure the 10th is failure. Its awful at first but in no time it creates a far stronger and more stable shoulder which you feel as soon as you press out of the racks. If you have slight tears in the cuff although it doesn't heal them it strengthens the entire shoulder back to health allowing uninjured regions to compensate for the injured parts. I can now bench heavy doubles and triples to failure again every workout without having to take a single painkiller and experience absolutely zero pain. You may already do these things bud but if you don't I guarantee they work brilliantly.

Yeah I’m kinda of neutral on bands. If they get you out of a hole so you can burn out higher reps (ie banded chin ups) that can be helpful as a way to introduce variety and for lighter pump days.

In terms of your bench though, if it’s between 225 raw for ten pain free, and 275 banded for ten pain free, I’m gonna pick the raw weight and just try to build reps. Like press said it’s just taking weight off my chest. I’m benching to build my chest. If you need gear to lift the weight, lighten the weight. No disrespect brother, I understand age plays a factor.

I thought the same too, but I was amazed with how the heavier weight really tore into my chest. Deffinately sore the following day. Yes it springs u off ur chest a little easier, but it was the way it held my arms. I wish I could say more about it, still waiting for it to come in. I will keep yall updated once I incorporate it into my workouts.. lol

Thats seems to be similar to what the sling does. It helps u at the lower point of ur lift were its weakest..

It relieves alot of pressure from my shoulders mainly. My elbows have always been strong, my shoulders carry injuries from the past. I believe I ordered mine from markbell.com. Ur post says 4months ago, but I'm just seeing this.. sorry bro

Great info mate, I’ll definitely check out the sling shot band.

I’ve got some resistant bands for stretching and I’m looking into some longer ones to include in my weightlifting program.

The bands for stretching help massively to warm the muscles up ready for a solid work out. I would like to include them as a warm down but it’s hard to find the inspiration after a hard work out to spend 10 minutes stretching.

My resistance bands in my home gym work great for me, lets me get creative. But at the regular gym I don't use much at all. Except when I get my sling, it'll be with me.

I hear ya on finding inspiration after a workout, I spend more time finding some Carbohydrates! Lol

The reason it gets rid of the shoulder pain mate is because it takes a lot of the weight off you at the bottom and up to the mid point where the shoulder is at its weakest and is stretched out to the max, then at midpoint the triceps become the main lifter. Same reason as to why people start wearing bench shirts once they have had a rotator cuff tear or surgery, it allows them to carry on lifting with no pain. Use it mate but don't use it for all of your workouts otherwise you will lose chest size and thickness and strength out of the hole which is basically your weakest part in the lift. Alternate between the slingshot and normal RAW lifting :-) Start taking collagen powder along with your protein shake everyday to help heal shoulder tendons along with extra vitamin C.

I got the XXL which it's weight rating is 275lb and up. Ill only be using it on those days of heavy lifting. I'll stay raw all the way till that point. Kinda look a lil funny wearing it, my girl was loud capping me saying I look like a T-rex doing pushups.

I agree with u on collagen. I need to swap, ive been taking joint complex pills. I have all kinds of shit to heal
