Over training?
ad
Is there a such thing as over training?
Made this thread to see everyone's thoughts and views as there is a lot of debate on 'optimal' sets/reps etc for maximum hypertrophy. But can setting the volume too high stunt growth? Or is over training a load of s**t
For example, many preach that near and around 16 sets for say chest is plenty if you are training in the correct manner. So would this person benefit more from a person who was hitting 10 sets flat bench, 8 sets incline than 6 sets on 3 other isolation movements? (Presuming both diets are on point for what they are trying to achieve).
Intrigued to see people's opinions on this.

OneinamillionI stop my session when you can't get any more pump.
Rustyhooker^^^^^^boom! Past the pump and fatigue....yes
Most so called "gym rats" these days will never overtrain. I am balls to the wall for 16wks straight during a prep and do I overtrain, I don't think so. I really don't worry about it.
Living4ThePumpThere is definitely the thing over reaching, so when you’re overreached you will be overtrained at some point. If you’re Training to failure this will occur after x amount of weeks depending on how much volume you do. This is where a deload comes into play.
RustyhookerOvertraining is for pussies....
