leg strength with minimal size

ad

My thighs were always really large in comparison to my upper body, so now on my first cycle ive been avoiding them to try and keep it proportional, but literally after 3 squat workouts (heavy low reps) theyve already grown significantly. I need to get them strong for MMA but i still have hopes of wearing jeans from time to time and not having to wear jordan sweats permanently. Any exercise tips?

Idk if its my genetics or what but I have a huge ass and little legs, I do "wide" squats I weigh 190 and only squat 420 though. I'm going to start putting my feet closer and see if it helps my legs grow more

Sorry I was just trying to suggest that possibly doing wide squats helps keep leg size minimal while maintaining strength but whatever

No, but wide-stance squats bring the glutes into it big-time, which will only add to the DEAD weight he is carrying by having so much leg size. He really needs to stay away from the weights (for the most part) if he wants to be an MMA fighter.

All he said was minimal leg size not glutes. I'm a wrestler and do 10th planet jiu jitsu (no gi) so I know how the weight thing can be. Your best off running because in fighting its better to have a lot of endurance and do a lot of stretching so your muscles are limber for kicks and grappling

You're absolutely correct...but keeping glute size down would be advisable as well.
As a wrestler, you know how important every single pound of bodyweight (or lack therof) is. The glutee are HUGE muscles, and wrestlers, MMA fighters want to be lean all the way around.
But yes, you are correct.

I don't know of any MMA fighters from my gym who would even consider stepping foot in a squat rack. In fact, they do very little weight training at all. Not sure why your trainers are directing you to do squats. You're doing heavy squats and you're an MMA fighter? I don't get that at all.
In MMA, you're going to want some leg stregth, but endurance is going to be far more critical. Your legs are probably already strong enough for what you want to do.
But to be honest, if your legs are now so big that you have to wear sweat pants, you don't sound as if you're built for MMA....more like the IFBB.
