ventrogluteal injection

My shots were going painless in the dorsogluteal but i wanted to try out ventrogluteal after reading good things about that injection site, but both times i tried it next day soreness was 10x as bad as the reg asscheek injection.
Any ideas why

yeah ive seen all the images online and ive even had a buddy locate it on me and im pretty sure i was injecting in the right location. Im also too fat atm to just flex and see the muscle. The actual injection is completely painless and blood free but soreness came within a few hours both times i dunno...
That's my favorite site.Never had any problem with that.Just stand in front of a mirror sideway and flex your bumm. The ventrogluteal site is an upside down triangle between your hipp bone and the top of your tight bone.

It's quite a small target area for the injection, are you sure you're hitting the right spot?
"Best way I've found to find it by yourself is to start at the trochanter move approx 1'' north then continue shifting your weight from your "off" leg and then back to the leg you intend on injecting. When you find the right muscle it will be bulging out whenever your weight is on the "inject" leg."
