Help advice, I after injury
ad
Dear all, I have a few thorny issue. I was doing the bodybuilding professionally, but was injured in the not very convenient location. Namely, a crack in the colon.
Now my doctor has forbidden such exercises like squatting with the bar (actually because of which I got this injury, took 260kg). For almost a year has passed, and I began again to perform such exercises, but with light weight ..... it brings not very comfortable feeling. You know, I feel the scar there, inside.
So the question to you, dears, not dangerous I'm playing with this?
Maybe need to listen to my doctor?

Dump the squats. Not worth it in my opinion. Lots of other things you can do to develop your legs other than squats.

a lot of good info in there. and i agree, if your at risk for injury dont push it. i rarely do barbell squats anymore and my leg development hasnt suffered. in fact they continue to grow and grow
Take the Docs advice IMO. However you need to prioritize how important squatting is in your life. Some serious potential for lifetime debilitating damage if you re-injure. If growth from squats is more important than the risk you face, then squat away. I personally would stop squats in this situation.

Listening to your doctor and taking things slow is hard, but a hell of a lot easier than injuring yourself because you choose not to. No worth it at all.
I've been through a severe knee injury and it took over a year to get back to somewhat normal. I still can't do heavy squats to this day (without consequences). You just learn to deal with it and work around it.
The point is I'm still able to do most things. It's not worth ruining everything by pushing it.

bigmurphI would definitely take your docs advice and see if you can find a physical therapist.
I ruptured my bicep almost a year ago and because I went through physical therapy and took it very slow in my opinion. I really believe that this helped in my healing and being able to exercise again. Im still not where I was with my arm its still lags behind but in time it will be 100% I hope.
Good luck healing
