Grip Strength

ad

Hi Guys

Quick question. I am currently not using any aids (I guess you call them) when I am deadlifting e.g. chalk, belts straps etc

Just got my 5x5 DL up to 70kg this week but while the lift is clean by the 5th rep my grip is slipping.

I think if I go any higher in weight I'll just lose my grip and dropping the weight.

Any easy answers as I don't really want to go for straps etc as I don't think I am lifting enough to warrant needing that kind of support just yet.

Thanks
Kila x

Definitely get some chalk or liquid chalk as others have suggested. Also, maybe invest in some Captains of Crush (CoC) hand grippers - made in USA and will last FOREVER

Juts thought I'd update this.

used a few of the tips from here http://stronglifts.com/7-ways-increase-deadlift-grip-strength/
and seen some improvements.

Have notice it might actually be down to the lack of aircon in my gym and my sweaty palms Smile because when the aircon was working I had almost no concerns with my grip

Sometimes after I finish my deadlifts I load up ~60% of my dl max and try to hold that for 60 seconds.
Works good for me.

Good idea

Best way to increase grip strength? Hang from a bar for 3 or 4 sets of maximum time until your forearms are aching.

You want a strong grip, do what I do.. reverse grip preacher curls, no straps on anything every, use gym chalk it's there for a reason, doesn't make your grip stronger, keeps the weight from slipping....

Thanks will give these a go

Personally I wear gloves, but I have no desire to increase grip strength and I hate calculus. Mine are hot pink with purple straps, yep I love em ;)
