Body Weight workouts

ad

Anyone ever do just pure body weight days? I realized I don't do enough body weight and although I may be strong with say a lat pull down, I'm much weaker with a body weight pull up.

I'd like to change it up a bit and want to get stronger with pullups. I'd like to incorporate muscle ups, planche push-ups. Things that involve strong secondary muscles and such. Anyone have any good advice to start working these things in slowly without injuring myself.

I've honestly avoided alot of it before of my back issues and my shoulder but it's time I start doing these things. If I do it right, take my time, I will build those muscles stronger than ever and stabilize everything better than it's ever been. I'm just not sure how to start.

Sadly, I'm the type of person that wants to go from 0 to 100 and skip everything in between. That usually bites me in the ass but hey. I'm an impulsive fuck. I can't help it. LOL.

Body weight exercises are the shit! I've recently been looking into them online and I'm starting to really enjoy it! Although I love to go to the gym and throw around the weights...it does feel quote nice when your actually tired from body weight exercises! It's a different workout completely, and I'm always open to keeping your body guessing! Do some research, YouTube good exercises...it goes a long way!

If your a beginner to bodyweight stuff and find it difficult, start with doing neutral grip pull-ups or just any closer grip pull ups they are allot easier than wider grip(neautral grip is easyest), then once you can do a couple of sets of 10 easy go for wider grip, then you can do weighted pullups (if you have a belt at your gym use that to strap some weights onto). Bodyweight dips are good too (with 2 parallel bars) lean forward to target your upperchest + arms or keep your body upright to target your triceps(once you can do these you can use the belt for this too to add more weight). to build yourself up for doing dips if you can't do them, you can do them using a bench/chair or something like that.

Thanks! I can do the dips but they irritate my shoulder when going full range of motion. As a work around I've used the assisted machine so I can take some weight off but get more or a stretch out of it. I have a slight rotator fray and minor labrum tear. I can typically work around it pain free I just can't work as hard as I'd like to. I'm hoping doing more of the body weight stuff will help improve it.
