Current Diet

ad

i thought I'd take a moment to put up a typical day of eating for myself:

Meal 1 - breakfast
6 whole farm fresh eggs cooked in butter (not a fan of egg whites alone)
6oz of sirloin
1 cup of steel cut oatmeal
1 cup of Greek Yogurt

Meal 2 - pre-workout snack
Protien shake with:
1 whole banana
2 scoops of protien powder
2 tablespoons of peanut butter
Whole milk

Meal 3 - after gym
2 seasoned turkey burger patties
2 cups of green leaf veggies (changes daily)
1 cup of brown rice

Meal 4 - lunch
2 8oz grilled chicken breasts
1 cups of steamed broccoli
1 sweet potato

Meal 5 - afternoon snack
Turkey Sandwich:
Lettuce
Tomato
Whole grain bread
Orange
1 cup cottage cheese

Meal 6 - dinner
2 6oz center Cut pork chops
1 cup of brown rice
2 cups of salad

Meal 7 - before bed shake
2 scoops Protien Powder
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
2 tbsp Peanut butter
1 cup of whole milk

The meals vary, based largely on the protien selections for the day. I do not eat seafood (trust me I have tried, I know how good it is for you) so salmon or alike is never a choice for me. The starches change, I add quinoa into the brown rice with some garlic, or I will roast red potatoes with butter, garlic and rosemary as a sub for sweet potato. The shakes stay largely the same.

I am completely open to feedback, questions, and suggestions.

What are your goals KC? Is this geared towards anything in particular?

My goal is pretty basic, to gain body mass. Over the next 16 weeks I'd like to work my way up to a lean 225, though I'd really like to be 235.

My current training focus is on my legs. I have very chiseled quads, but I'd like to see growth in my hamstrings as well as my calves. Right now I feel that my quads over power the visual balance of my legs.

My back and shoulders have great definition, but I've noticed over the past few years that as I've really grown my shoulder size, that it takes away from the appearance of my pecs, so they are a secondary focus.

I don't see why you couldn't hit 235, but it would be dirty (I don't subscribe to lean bulking) by your definition. Your diet looks pretty well balanced, do you know the total macros you're getting? I'm also curious as to why you don't have any starchier foods in your diet if your building mass, i think it would help a bunch to put on some quality weight and keep it.

Do you have any plans on additional meals/increased portions as you start putting on the lbs?

I would also recommend you link this post to the diet clinic section, maybe some guys there might help you modify this a bit to hit your goals faster.

I would also recommend you read Makwa's post in the exercise thread regarding leg workouts, there's some great info in there (read all the parts anyway, it's a good read).
