Need advice

ad

Hi,
I used to be in really good shape in my 20s but a couple of injuries slowed me down. I went from 205 to 285. Now I'm in my late 40s and every thing I try to lose weight I don't have any luck. I have no energy and a bad back and hip limit me from doing as much as I want. I was taking Phentermine and doing high rep low weight lifting and walking about 5 miles a day on a treadmill. I got down to 255 but had bad side effects from the meds. Now I'm limited on how far I can walk. I can still lift but have to be careful with my back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I've tried Keto. Did not help except I had ZERO bloat the entire time because of low carbs but that was about it.

Fyi, once you get older and your liver starts getting clogged with fat(nafld). Shit stops working efficiently. This is when you have to double down on everything just to keep even. My advice is to concentrate on your diet (adjusted bmr -500calories), true keto is hard to maintain, research some helpful supplements, get regular bloodwork, and stay active however possible. Phentermine is a short term solution ( 90 days max) and people always go straight back to being fat. It's a shortcut at best. If your serious, it's time to get your shit together! Best of luck

The bottom line is your going to have to burn more calories than your bringing in.
I agree with Rusty though, get bloods.
Have your thyroid checked.
True keto diets work but you’ve got to stay very strict.

Thank you. I will do that. My testosterone levels are low but the doc said its to be expected at my age.

Agree with Mr Hooker about the bloods. Also why are you now limited to how far you can walk. Your injures? If that's the case have you tried alternatives? Ex. Elliptical, Stationary Bike, Etc. And always the most obvious but sometimes over looked is to consume fewer calories!!

Hi. I have a lower back injury that affects my left hip. After I walk for a while, it starts to really bother me. I fight through the pain as much as I can but it wears me down.

They were actually pretty good. My doctor wants to put me on an injectable weight loss med that is really expensive. That's why I'm looking for an alternative.

Weight loss drugs are never a good idea unless you need to drop weight fast due to severe health concerns. I have yet to see anyone using them keep the weight off. The rebound from them can be horrible. Most people end up fatter that when they started once they stop them. If all your hormones are in check, get bloodwork like others have mentioned, you need to do a lifestyle change with your diet. First and foremost though, you need to make sure all your hormones are in check, otherwise you are just pissing in the wind trying to lose and keep weight off.

Sounds like a money grab.

Yeah. I stopped taking phentermine. Took micro doses of T3 for a week and stopped. I did not feel good about it. The phentermine shot my BP through the roof.
