+ 1 Losing weight

ad

If I cut back my carbs and eat high protein and fat while working out and also do the HITT method training for 20 minutes on treadmill after working out, will it be counterproductive to gaining mass if I maintain 1gram of protein per pound. Thanks

I also would like to know about the better way to lose weight. What will you suggest for a newbie?

IrishJerk's picture

Because I am diabetic, some of the standard rules don’t apply for me. I have to maintain a lower carbohydrate level to maintain my blood sugar. I do gain mass quickly on a higher level of carbohydrates but 50% of it is fat. So when I am trying to lean out the best I hope for is to maintain my current level.

I envy some of my bros metabolic rates haha.

Agree anything over 1/2 a gram per pound for me goes straight down the drain. I get more absorbed protein from cows and chickens.

Yes, I agree. I think that people put too little emphasis on PROPERLY structuring thier protein intake so that the body can actually utilize and use it, and too much emphasis on just consuming a certain amount of it.

Hi there, I have heard about many diet guide which can also be the best option for maintaining weight.

sparky75's picture

That looks pretty good...Thanks...

i’ve done keto several times but not for long periods, i simply adjusted my protein and carbs upping the protein and still kept my lean muscle, a little research with calculators and such and u can find a good macro ratio although there are plenty of other ways to lose the weight and keep your muscle mass. My body seemed to respond to keto rather than just plain low carb because of the several migraines meds i’m on, don’t ask why it was trial and error but i found what worked for me bro. As all have said there are many directions to go, just find what u respond to best, may take a bit but once u find it u will know. good luck

I found out that a giant spoon full of peanut butter will knock the low carb migraine out. Not the health food store kind either :-)

rabbitman's picture

i’ll try that brother, unfortunately i get them regardless of my diet but does seem worse with low carbs of course.

IrishJerk's picture

Sorry to hear that, It does help for the low carb headache when your brain is starving for some fat.
As far as a regular migraine It probably won’t help.
But I have found that some extra fat added into my low carb diet does help me.

I like the high protein high fat and lower carb ratio. It works good for me, but not too low on the carbs.....

rabbitman's picture

sounds silly but that damn migraine meds carbs bloat me on it so i kinda cycle back and forth and it works for me but that’s my situation, sounds like ur getting it all squared away my friend

sparky75's picture

Im getting there, but trying to work on a budget too....lol Now thats the hard part. Eating that way and enough protein to grow on a budget is extremely difficult.

You can do both (gain muscle AND lose fat) but it's much more effective to simply cut fat, or focus on building muscle. Don't be afraid to "shrink" as you cut. If you're not gonna be on a body building stage, then your goal is LEAN. Lean will mean "light" on the scale. Give yourself permission to be light. It's a huge mental shift, but it's worth it. Get lean, get light, and enjoy not being a fatty anymore. (I say this with all due respect, cuz I've spent my days as a fatty, I promise. Not anymore.) You're on the right path if you surf this forum section.

sparky75's picture

Thats what I want is to be lean. Transform my body into a lean and tone machine.....

zeusmarada's picture

Then your goal should be proportions. Look up "golden ratio" or "Adonis Golden Ratio" and check it out. If you're truly doing TRT to feel better instead of get swol, then your ultimate look & feel will be spot on if you can get your waist and shoulders to their golden ratio. PM me if I can help guide you down that rabbit hole.

And don't get goal hijacked! Your sole focus is LESS CALORIES. That's it. Don't worry about building loads of muscle. If you've worked out most of your life, you're set with muscle. Now the world simply needs to see that muscle, and that only comes from dieting off the body fat. It takes time, but it's worth it!

in my 20's I was lean and athletic around 190-195. I got up to about 244 one year ago. Got all the way to 202 and hurt my wrist cost me about 3 months. I am sitting on about 210 right now. I am back in the gym working hard. I want to be toned and trim again and feel much better about myself. Took me a year to get where I am and I have a little way to go, but I have made some good progress and back to getting closer.

Hello Sir,

In the title it says you are looking forward to lose weight. If that is the goal that calorie deficit is all you require. You can lose weight and eat carbs all day unless your daily calorie intake are below maintenance rate. From the given information it is impossible to guide you the right way I'm afraid Sir.
But monitoring your carbs and getting rid of the food products that are not productive for your goal is a good starting point Sir.

Regards

I got you! Been trying to tone up and gain muscle, not a bunch, but some definition while cutting fat. Thats the real goal.

I think I could be in the 180-190 range if I got my LBM down, which is right where you are. My goal weight is 190, again where you are, I think that would put me around 8-10% BF weight. Thats what i weighed when playing college ball. So 100 grams of protein/carbs does you right to maintain muscle and lose weight?

IrishMack's picture

I take in about 100 grams of protein a day and about the same in carbs give or take. I am 5'6 myself and I am maintaining 190 pounds right now off cycle. at 5'6 your LBM is 145. And that LBM is based on a 6-8%BF. 1 gram of protein per pound of MUSCLE not weight and I bet you are sitting at about 100 pounds of muscle. 210 pounds does not factor in your organs and bone weight. That is where everyone goes wrong. If taking 1 gram per pound of bodyweight is correct, then why isn't everyone over 350 pounds and full blown muscle?
my 190 means I have a LBM of about 110 considering I am 13%BF
so I have about 25 pounds of fat, my organs weigh roughly 60-70 pounds including bones, skin and blood. so my lean muscle mass is about 105 pounds. Why would I take 195 grams of protein for 100 pounds of muscle?

sparky75's picture

just taking Test cyp prescribed at 200mg every other week. trying to stay around 1800-2000 calories. I am about 210 right now and 5'6 stocky

Will you be in a calorific deficit ? If so you won't gain mass , are you on any gear at the minute ?
