+ 1 Bulking - Eating enough?

ad

OK so I get a fair few pm's about diet. Unless you want to be bored to death about molecular biology, (my job), it's probably one of the few other things I can credibly assist people with. Talking with a couple of guys at my gym this morning raised a discussion I've had so many times over the years, you're not eating enough. I regularly read guys posting about bunk gear or this and that excuse as to why they're not gaining, most of the time the same rule applies, you're not eating enough. I'm going to start using this phrase as often as I ask for stats.......

My stats 38yrs old (for another couple of weeks!), 6ft1", 261lbs, just below 10% BF
Current cycle Test / EQ / Mast week 13 currently. Cycle goal - 260lbs 8-9% then stay there until I prepare for September on stage.

So I kept a detailed list of exactly what I ate yesterday.

Breakfast 5.30am - Omlette with 2 whole eggs, 6 egg whites, large bowl of porridge, BCAA's
6am - Whey protein shake, 2 bananas, TNE shot for a big shoulder workout.
7am - Gym
8am - Leave gym, whey with a little dextrose
8.30am Arrive at work, Tupperware time! Sweet potato, spinach, lean beef, pint of skimmed milk
10.30am - chicken, brown rice
12.30pm - Salmon, Quinoa, broccoli, pint of skimmed milk
3pm (half hour later, crappy meeting got in the way of eating) - Chicken, wholewheat pasta, tomatoes
5.30pm - Turkey sandwich with wholemeal bread
7.45pm - 6 Egg white omelette, spinach, small amount of parmesan
10pm - Casein shake

Now bare in mind these are far from small portions, for you folks trying to put on some size, ARE YOU EATING ENOUGH?

Thanks for the post bro that offers some good ideas. Could you tell me what your calorie count was for that day? A rough guess will work if youre not sure.

Including snacks etc around 6000.

Thanks for this post. I recently revamped my diet trying to add as much mass as I can before getting back on cycle. I was at 186 at the beginning of the month. I'm waking up about 189 now and about 192 or so throughout the day. My goal is to hit and maintain 200 before going back on cycle, however long that may take. I realized after being a part of this community for the short time I have that I have much to gain without gear. I always like to see what other guys are doing.

For some reason I have always made diet more complicated than it really is. I am also using V's shake AM and before bed, it's delicious BTW. One thing though, what can I substitute for sweet potatoes? I just can't stand them. Maybe some other way of making them taste good other than sweetening them, I hate sweet shit on food.

I like oats / brown rice / quinoa / sweet potatoes / whole wheat pasta for my carb sources, brown rice being the best IMO. If you can hack it, rice all the way.

Ok thanks, yea brown rice is rough. I just try to imagine I'm eating french fries or something. What about white rice? Is there a time that you could eat it? And for your pasta do you use anything for a sauce or just pasta only?

Both. If I want sauce I make it myself sobits not full of sugar etc.
