ALA, alpha lipoic acid?
ad
I was reading up on this stuff and it sounds promising. Anybody have any experience with it as far as dosing regimes and effectiveness is concerned?

1200 mg/day is the recommended dose for anyone training with weights. 300mg should be taken right before you workout and 300mg right after you are done. The other 600 mg should be taken a couple hours before bed if you workout in the morning or take it in the morning if you workout in the evening. I took it for 2 months using the protocol recommended above (evening workouts).
Did I gain 15 pounds of muscle mass, no, and I didn't expect to. The positives that I took from it were is that it is a powerful anti-oxidant and anybody who is weight training should be taking an anti-ox to fight all of the oxidative stress which occurs as a result of the training. My recovery times from training seemed to be a little quicker. I also think that it assisted me in helping to lose a little fat and prevented me from having food cravings.
Bottom line for me, is it worth taking? I do not use it anymore after my trial run. I take a good multi-vit and pycogenol as my anti-ox so I don't use it for that purpose. If I'm looking to put on weight naturally, creatine, hardwork and diet and rest seem to do the trick. As far as seeing real world blow your mind results, I didn't notice any.
