Lipid Support on cycle
ad
Curious about in everyone’s experience, what was the best way to keep lipids in check while on cycle, particularly orals such as anavar which is said to crush HDL?

Lisinopril daily from my doctor is my secret
FighterrjAnavar is number 1
Pretty much what's already mentioned below by the 2 members, citrus bergamot, Omega-3, the liver supports mentioned. I would also consider adding cardirine and berberine.
If you're running orals like Anavar (Oxandrolone), yeah, it’s gonna smash your HDL and spike LDL. That's not bro-science, that’s fact. Anavar’s hepatotoxicity might be mild, but its effect on lipids is brutal, even at low doses.
Here, TUDCA (500 mg/day): Supports liver and gallbladder, helps keep bile flowing, which indirectly supports cholesterol clearance,
NAC (1200 mg/day): Protects the liver and helps reduce systemic inflammation, which supports lipid metabolism,
Omega-3s (4g/day minimum EPA/DHA combined): This is key. Prescription-level dosing, actually raises HDL and lowers triglycerides.
Citrus Bergamot (500–1000 mg/day): Natural statin-like effects without wrecking your liver or libido. One of the most effective over-the-counter lipid balancers,
Niacin (Flush kind, 500 mg before bed): It’s old school, but effective at boosting HDL if you tolerate the flush. Don’t use the “no-flush” crap—it doesn’t work.
You can run Anavar without nuking your lipid panel
, but you have to respect the compound. Orals are stealth killers on paper. You won’t feel your HDL dropping, but your blood test will look like a ticking cardiovascular time bomb if you don’t run support.
steroid use consistently decreases HDL by >90% and increases LDL by up to 50%.

Here’s what no AI bot or Google search is gonna give you unless you actually lived it:
TUDCA isn’t about “liver protection” alone. It keeps bile moving so cholesterol doesn’t sit stagnant in your liver. That means you're supporting clearance of cholesterol through fecal excretion, not just hoping your HDL bounces back later. Most bros just toss in Milk Thistle like it’s gonna fix a wrecked lipid panel. It won’t.
NAC, Yeah, cool antioxidant, until you realize it also downregulates inflammatory cytokines that make lipid ratios worse on orals. You’re not just “protecting the liver,” you’re modulating the internal stress response from your compound. That’s clinical-level intervention, not “bro-science.”
Omega-3s at 4g/day isn’t fish oil from Costco. That’s actual therapeutic EPA/DHA levels shown in meta-analysis data to raise HDL and blunt LDL oxidation. But try telling that to someone popping 1 softgel and calling it a day.
Citrus Bergamot, I take it with CoQ10 and garlic extract in a triple stack that’s dropped my total cholesterol by 25 points on cycle while running 50mg Var and 500 test. And no, AI didn’t give me that combo, I found it when my doc flagged my bloodwork and told me to quit lifting. I'm still lifting.
Flush Niacin, Feel the burn or stay soft. That flush, It’s prostaglandin-induced vasodilation, a sign it’s actually working. AI says maybe tolerate it, I say man the fuck up and ride it out. That burn means HDL boost is inbound.
Bottom line, Anavar doesn’t kill your lipids because you used it. It kills them because you didn’t plan for what it does.
This isn’t a list of citations, it’s a protocol I built in real-time, with real needles, real bloodwork, and real mistakes. If that feels AI generated,, then maybe AI’s finally learning from the right guys.
There is Not really a good way to keep HDL up on orals. Best bet is probably lots of liver support - Tudca, milk thistle, NAC or glutathione. Fish oil can help, a long with other healthy fats, cardio, and minimal processed food. Also you really want to keep LDL low while your HDL is low to prevent plaque build up. To me Ezetimibe is a must, it's pretty mild but will knock ldl down a good bit. You can try Red yeast rice which is essential low dose lovastatin, or run low dose statin of your choice. Most would lean towards Rosuvastatin or pitavastatin as they tend to have the lowest incident of side effects. Rosuva is hydrophilic meaning it doesn't cross the blood brain barrier so I'm theory the mental effects should be low to none. Also in studies pitavastatin has the least effect on blood glucose. A statin with ezetimibe should knock ldl down up to 50 percent, which in the presence of low HDL is very helpful at reducing plaque build up. Since us enhanced guys have higher states of inflammation and other heart troubles, we should be shooting for even lower lipids than general population.
