Injury during cycle
ad
Just found out i have a pinched nerve in my arm/shoulder and I'm beginning my 4th week of Test E (first cycle). Doc gave me muscle relaxers, Vicodin and prednisone. It all started on Friday, yesterday was really bad but today is finally feeling back to normal. I'm thinking I should take a full week off the gym to let it heal properly. Has anyone ever had this type of thing during a cycle? How bad would this hinder my efforts? Any advice is appreciated.

doing 275 decline had the weight fall on the back of my neck.lesson learned dont stack weight your ass cant smash.i really hate having to ask for a spot. dammit pride!
No1injured wrist several times but I kept working out
1jakd_hipyRework your programming around it, give it the week off and the following week start with low weight and rep work. The worst thing you can do is stop lifting altogether and stop the juice you will most likely slip into a depression and its a bitch to come back from. Allow it time to heal but continue your cycle
Anonabsolutely right. if he tapers off with prop, tho, he can maintain more stable levels. this would really just equate to an 8-10 wk cycle for him. a few control measures could help him stop his cycle without too many sides if any at all.
1jakd_hipyI'm speaking from the point of view of someone who is in a similar situation and I absolutely love the sport of powerlifting but due to injury everyday it gets easier to say "I'll just go to the gym tomorrow" it sucks bro. I hate that I've become so unmotivated. But today is the fucking day I'm fixing it.
AnonI feel you there brotha
Anoni've pinched a nerve in my finger before. the finger still functioned but was completely numb for a few months.. sucks that your cycle is just kicking off and now you have to rearrange everything. IMO, i don't think continuing to run your dose is gonna benefit you much in terms of making gains. sense of wellbeing can remain improved but that's about it. if you're wanting to continue with the wellbeing aspects, you can lower your dose down to between 200-300 wk. personally, i would kill the test e and go with a prop taper at this point for the next 4 wks. then go ahead and run your pct and wait it out. if you wanna spend the money on something to keep your body in an anabolic state, i'd go with gh. you can still do cardio, abs, and legs. i'd keep the intensity moderate on the legs so that you're not creating more of an inbalance in strength than what's neccessary. anything that involves that shoulder may need to be avoided. consult with your dr about continuing with any exercise program. the best person to ask that question would be your physical therapy tech or dr.
I knew a friend awhile back that had a similar issue.. imo you are further complicating things if you stay on cycle and take all these other medications and on top of that dealing with an injury..
Yes! last year same thing happened to me. Pinched nerve in upper back/trap area. Took the vic first 2 days at night so I could sleep. Did not use muscle relaxers. Had me on methyl prednisone for a few weeks. I rested for about 5 to 7 days then went back to gym. Didnt lose much strength. First few bavk and shoulder workouts I went light to make sure I was OK. Did not interrupt test dosage. Minor set back really. I would say just listen to your body.
Cool. Thanks man. I'm on a tapering does 40mg today, 30 tomorrow, 20, tue and then 10mg on wed and I'll be done with it.
Thats what I had too. It really helped a lot. I mean a pinched nerve like this is really minor. Its not like there is any structural damage from what it sounds like. I sleep in the same postion for too long sometimes and pinch a nerve. Once the swelling is reduced which the pred is doing it alleviates the pressure on the nerve and thats the end of it.
Yep. The fucked up thing is I don't even think it happened in the gym. I was ar work and twisted my body in a funky way to pick a binder up off the floor. (at least that what I think did it). I'm working with a good trainer at my gym right now and he's pretty good at keeping me in good form.
maybe I mis-read but if you feel better in a week or so guess thats not soo bad after all... I'd take his advice on lsitening to your body
I actually had it before years ago. It didn't last that long, just this time the severity of pain was much worse and I ended up going to see the Dr. Will definitely listen to my body, but I really don't want to stop the test and start PCT just yet. If I feel the slightest pain when I start back at the gym (hopefully in a week), I will reconsider.
