Growing Pains!

ad

I'm at that week in my cycle that I'm starting to get some pain in my shoulders while I work out, which reminds me of the same pains I used to have in my legs when I was a teen, growing pains!

Usually stretching, touching my toes helps to alleviate the pain, but I was wondering if anyone here had any ideas on how to deal with the soreness you get when your muscles are growing and get pumped with blood.

Agree with Superman,

When you are on cycle, you are putting on weight quickly and getting stronger quickly, but you tendons are not growing or getting stronger at the same rate, so pushing lower weight at higher reps will ease you tendons in to growth without too much strain.

Take it east for a couple of weeks, this won't hurt your training and you will still grow as you are on cycle, provided you are eating resting well.

Its better to do this than suffer an injury or tear.

Also, maybe consider getting a sports massage, this hurts alot but does help alot.

Yeah I'm starting Layne Norton's P.H.A.T. but lifting at 60% of what I typically lift, on the exercises that feel better I'm lifting a bit more but taking it easy this next week, feeling better.

Shoulder is still a little sore, but taking tomorrow off and seeing a massage therapist.

"TEN's unti" ? Not sure what that is.

Pretty sure he meant to say TENs unit. It's an electric deep tissue massager. It basically sends an electric current through the muscle that you have placed it on. They can be very very very painful when turned all the way up but you should be able to get one that you can adjust the settings on. They are very good. Alot of physio's use something very similar to these items. Just to a google search bro.

Interesting! I'll def. look into it. For now, just took a day off and it feels a lot better. Also trying to increase my cardio intensity, I feel like it helps as well to get the blood moving around.

Any sites you recommend learning to use and obtain one?

Not having joint pain, the best way to describe the pain is when the "pump" comes during the workout, there's soreness, the kind you felt when you were a teenager and your legs hurt because you were growing.

If I slow down my rest periods the pain goes away too.

I'm lightening my load this week and see where that takes me, thanks guys!

(I also already do 15-20 min of cardio before and after my workouts too, that should help as well.)
