+ 1 From blast to cruise
ad
Going from blast to cruise for the first time. For the guys who blast and cruise, do you taper down for a couple weeks or just go straight from blast dose to cruise dose? Do you take an AI during the transition? What advice can you give me in order to keep the most gains possible and make the transition as smooth as possible?
If I go to a trt level dose (test levels at or below 1000ng/dl, probably going to aim for 700ng/dl first) would that still be enough test to keep at least most of my gains?
Thanks in advance everyone!

25mg proviron a day, 100-200mg mast e a week, 50-100mg deca a week, never come off gh 2-6iu cruise usually doing 8iu year round right now, 16 floz badger milk on waking and pre workout. Except proviron I have found the trt+ high cruise or whatever you want to call it does seem effect the next blast so I require more mgs per week for the same results.
Solid questions, brother … this is exactly the kind of mindset you need before transitioning from a blast. I’ve been blasting and cruising for years, and I’ll tell you from both experience and everything I’ve seen in this game: there’s no “one-size-fits-all” answer. It’s trial, error, bloodwork, and personal biofeedback .. every time.
First off, don’t confuse cruising with TRT. TRT is for restoring a hypogonadal man to normal function (usually ~100–150mg/wk), not for preserving a physique you built using supraphysiological doses. If you blast at 600–1000mg and then cruise at TRT levels (e.g. 125mg), yes … you’re going to lose tissue. That dose is no longer enough to support what you’ve built. So for you to maintain muscle, you’ll need to find your personal “sweet spot” … might be 175mg, 200mg, 250mg, or more depending on your body size, androgen sensitivity, and how well your bloods respond, like @anvil said.
Me personally…After a hard blast, I usually cruise at 250–500mg/wk. It gives me stable energy, solid gym performance, and my blood markers can normalize while still holding onto a decent amount of what I built.
Before deciding how hard to cruise, pull bloods 2–3 weeks after your last blast pin. If your lipids, hematocrit, RBC, ALT/AST, e2, etc. are jacked … you don’t cruise hard. You bridge. A true cruise at that point is about health, not holding size.
If bloods look good?!?! You can stay closer to performance cruise range, which many IFBB guys and coaches actually recommend. Like you said … even pros taper between phases, not out of theory, but from decades of real-world results.
Personally, I don’t run AI during cruise. I rarely even use it during blasts … I keep it minimal and only when necessary based on symptoms or bloodwork. Everyone’s different, but keeping AI use low helps avoid the negatives long-term (lipids, joints, etc).
Now, answering your question like…”will i keep my gains?”
Short answer: not all of them. Nobody does. Like @press1 said … you can’t compare the nitrogen retention and protein synthesis of a cruise vs a blast. You’ll lose a little fullness, maybe some strength, but if your training, food, and rest are dialed, you can retain most of it, especially if the cruise isn’t a freefall.
My 2 cents ? Stay locked in like you’re still on cycle. Same intensity. No excuses. Because this ain’t no 12-week “get abs, get ass, disappear till next summer” porn-cycle special. This is a lifestyle, not a casting call for Brazzers.
We’re not here to flex for a few poolside selfies and ghost.
Blast. Cruise. Rebuild. Refine.
Think long-term commitment … not a weekend hookup.
PCT? That’s for guys who build a penthouse just to burn it down every year and start over with a leaky basement.
Blast & cruise is grown-man business … we remodel, we upgrade the plumbing, maybe throw in a sex swing, who knows. But we don’t start from zero.
You’re doing it right by asking now. Respect your health, get your labs, and keep learning from those who’ve walked the path…there are so many experts users here.
You’re already winning by asking the right questions now.
Respect your bloods, listen to your body, and don’t take advice from dudes whose protocol came from a Reddit meme.
Brother man, this is all just my humble opinion … take it or trash it, I respect all paths. Nothing works the same for everyone. But if this helps you, or someone else scrolling through one day, then it was worth sharing. That’s all
hey question about this part ~~~> "Before deciding how hard to cruise, pull bloods 2–3 weeks after your last blast pin. If your lipids, hematocrit, RBC, ALT/AST, e2, etc. are jacked … you don’t cruise hard. You bridge. A true cruise at that point is about health, not holding size." what if the only thing is up is RBC while a decent cruise and everything else you mention for health markers are good. would i need to lower the cruise? cruise being about 300mgs
If RBC is the only thing elevated and the rest of your markers look solid … you might be fine holding your cruise at 300mg for now. But don’t take it lightly. Thicker blood means more cardiovascular strain over time, for sure ! 300mg is higher than TRT territory, so even if you’re holding steady there, you’ve still got to manage the details:
Hydration: 40-50ml water per kg body weight daily, seems easy most don’t do it.
Cardio at least 20–30 min a few days a week keeps blood flow and BP in check, better if HIIT.
Great setup of supplements would help a lot, for example Nattokinase: Great natural support for blood viscosity, there’s so much more than that, so you can do your own research, also Baby aspirin (if not contraindicated)… and what many people refuse to believe the importance and the impact of Sleep, stress, and inflammation … all factor in … must keep it as good as possible.
Well, can’t forget to mention, blood donation: yes … but with a warning cause, blood donations aren’t a “free fix.” They drop RBC/hematocrit fast, but your body doesn’t know it was elective … it thinks trauma. That can trigger a rebound response where you start pumping out more red blood cells to compensate, fast. So donation must be used strategically, not reflexively … or the “fix” might start a rebound cycle that taxes your body even more.
If things keep trending up despite the basics, it’s wise to drop to 150–200mg for a few weeks, re-test, and see how you settle. No shame in adjusting … it’s about long-game health, not short-term fullness.
Some guys even pull everything for a short window when markers get wild. That’s rare, but shows how individualized this game really is.
Me and you have the same exact definition of blast and cruise. There are others like me!
Dam. You hooked this man up. Good shit.
anvilNow that is a response lol.
Haha appreciate that brother man … someone’s gotta do the dirty work, right?
I just remember being that lost PCT-head years ago, wishing someone laid it out clear. But hey, between you and @press1, I’m just the eager student trying to earn extra credit in class! Respect, legends … you two keep the bar high.
first thing you need to know, as press1 said, you wont keep all of your gains and strength, thats a fact... but if you keep on your diet and try to keep your training on point, you definately keep your physique in good shape. try to keep your blood work on an eye before and during the cruise.
I am not going to bother Bullshitting you and tell you that you will keep most of the muscle and strength you gained on your cycle - because you won't. Its scientifically not possible, Nada.
The benefit of dropping down to a cruise dose level of testosterone as opposed to doing a full PCT is that you effectively won't be in a period of time where you will be bottomed out on testosterone levels, waiting for your Bollocks to start producing testosterone again - and also waiting for them to get up to full steam again. Its also likely that after cycling steroids your natural testoserone levels will of dropped to a lower natural level somewhat. Dropping onto 200mg of Test is much easier to do than a PCT course - however it still cannot match the protein sysnthesis/nitrogen blood retention levels of what you were likely running before in the full blown AAS cycle, therefore it is physically IMPOSSIBLE to support the level of muscle you gained on it. However, it is possible to keep more of that muscle over say 3 months before you go back on cycle again than you would do doing PCT. People will say the only thing you tend to lose is Strength coming down onto a cruise - well thats lost muscle I'm afraid not just CNS activitation.
anvilTest is self tapering so you can just drop down to desired dose. Blood work answers your question about AI but normally you will need less. Keep most gains will be trial and error on your part as no one knows exactly how you will react. You might need 200mg or 400mg depends on how high you dose how big you are. Many factors.
I personally just immediately drop down to my TRT dosing regimen. All that supraphysiological AAS will slowly drop down on you, but having that TRT (or cruise dose) will not let you drop below that level. Of course you'll see some strength gains drop, because you're no longer jacking up your nervous system with AAS, and some size will decrease because you won't be holding as much water/glycogen as before. Everything that's left, is lean tissue you earned :-)
