First cycle injury - Continue or terminate?
ad
I'm 23 6ft 195lbs, and i'm in week 5 of a 10 week Test E cycle at 500mgs per week. I started noticing pain in my right hamstring on week 2, long story short turn out i have a bulging disk hitting a nerve probably related to a previous back injury from an IED blast. Anyhow, my doc gave me a cortisone shot 2 days ago, and i'm starting to feel better. My biggest question is how will the cortisone shot affet my cycle? Should i stay the course, terminate the cycle, or go some other route?

I know it's tough, especially a first cycle buy its the turtle that wins THIS race! I had to drop my last winter cycle 7wks in due to injury and came back with one of my best summer cycles in years!
That's what Dorian Yates said anyways in the evolution of bodybuilding. Continued lifting after he got the shot tore a tendon shortly after even after reducing the amount of weight.
Be careful though the cortisone shot will weaken the surrounding tendons.
cdaddy7Your biggest problem Is not the cortico shot. It won't effect your cycle bc it only last a few days. Your problem is going to b what is called axial compression that is going to make things worse. Your best bet is to change up your training a bit so you don't further the nerve compression. I have degenerative disk disease in my L4,L5,SI 1. I have to get epidurals ever so often. I have had to change a few exercises I did but I'm still goin. The doc told me I would have to quit workn out. I listened to my body and learned it and It's limitations and put the ego in the drawer for another time. I can no longer squat r deadline but i have found other exercises that will get the job done. No you will not grow like u will using those compound exercises but you will grow. And it beats rupturing the disk and having back surgery and never being able to workout anymore. There is a way to have it both and thats y I train smart and not put myself in a harmful predicament. At this point when the nerve is compressed, then damage can b done and permanent in some cases. Be very wise and listen to your body
Thanks for the awesome advice. I was really worried that the cortisone shot itself would be detrimental to my cycle. I figured they might have some sort of interaction with eachother so i'm glad to hear that i dont have to worry about that as much. I figured that i wouldn't be able to do squats or deadlift, so i'll have to figure out a way to work around it, but it sure beats the hell out of getting surgery. Thanks again man.
cdaddy7Anytime brother, ur def not alone. I been there
+1 to Doctor Cdaddy.
@ Neurofit: First off since you said you were injured by an IED I will assume you were in the military so thanks for your sacrifice. @ cdaddy7 this is great advice and what makes this forum work. Good solid input and realizing that this is a marathon not a sprint. I see so many people at the gym lifting too much weight with bad form that it irritates the crap out of me. Check the ego at the door and be consistent with your diet and training and you will reach your goals in due time.
Bam!
