Melatonin for PCT
After my last cycle I was having trouble sleeping and tried melatonin 5mg tablets. It got me to sleep, but on the second day, I woke up early and couldn't go back to sleep. So I quit taking it, but afterward I noticed that I was more intense at the gym, had increased sex drive, and just felt more pumped than usual since coming off cycle. Could it be that taking the melatonin jolted the pituitary or hypothalamus, and some how turned it back on? Just curious if anybody else has had a similar experience, tried it, knows it works, etc.? On a side note, I switched to the time released version and only take it once or twice a week as/if needed, and it works like a charm. Also, if someone is doing pct right now and wants to try it and post back that would be cool.

Found this journal article that pertains to what we've been discussing. It's an interesting read if you have the patients and are interested in such things.
"We have demonstrated that in young men, the sleep-related rise in serum
testosterone levels is linked with the appearance of the first
REM sleep. Fragmented sleep disrupted the testosterone
rhythm, with attenuation of the nocturnal rise in men who
did not experience REM sleep. These findings suggested that
a single circadian oscillator that controls REM sleep, core
body temperature, and melatonin is related to LH-testosterone
secretion." http://jcem.endojournals.org/content/88/7/3160.full.pdf
I use melatonin quite often now. without it, sometimes I can't go to sleep till 5 am. With it, Im out as soon as the lights go off and my face hits the pillow. Good stuff!! Im thinking maybe the second day using it, you woke up early because your internal clock was telling you that you got enough sleep. Thats the way it was for me when I first started using it. If I stay up late for a few days and get x amount of hours of sleep, it gets hard for me to get out of that routine. You were prolly more intense in the gym because you wernt so deprived of sleep.
My main concern is that although your sleeping pattern will be great with it but as soon as you come off you will struggle to get back to sleep and be'addicted'
I think the idea is to reset your internal clock and restore circadian rhythm.
cdaddy7P was a little drastic but he meant well. LOL
True
Uncharacteristically exaggerated..
cdaddy7+1 bc It's freakin hilarious to me my man. I loved it!!!
The sleep deprivation idea makes tons of sense.
cdaddy7I know that melatonin is produced by pineal gland and it works in synchronizing your hormone and immune system. The supplement triggers deep sleep in which your hormone levels rise and go to work like GH, IGF, Test. But as far as nailing it down exactly to being the reason that you are experiencing this I don't know. I would go with it and ride the wave because melatonin is safe if taken properly and it has many benefits to just the few I listed
x2
Also, i know its been recommended for mild sleeping problems since its available over the counter.
