+ 9 The only gear you need to hit your goals.

ad

Alright listen up pencil necks!

It's become quite apparent that many of you aren't hitting your proposed goals here, and there's really only one reason this could possibly come to pass - you are not using the best gear you possibly can. There's no need to panic though, Pasta is here to let you in on the most closely held secret here on eRoids secret! That's right, prepare to get your minds blown.

Pasta, you fucking deceitful little shit! is probably what you're thinking, and god fucking damnit you're right. You see, it's become quite common to find a sub-200lb member posting up a ridiculous cycle stack with dosages that rival the production capacities of some pharmaceutical companies, utilizing every performance enhancing drug known to man, and the kitchen sink to boot. All of this is done in an effort to prop up a shitty... i mean "on point" diet. Do you know why? Because I'm willing to bet me left... no! BOTH my testicles that they don't use one of these, a food scale - the single most important weapon in your arsenal.

When we ask what your diet is like, we expect to see something posted up that is more advanced than a high-schooler in a nutritional-education class would post up (although for some of you i'm sure that would explain everything). Any person with half a brain can research "healthy foods" or "foods to gain muscle" and come back with a list longer than Gandalf's beard of what food is good for you, including chicken, pork chops, potatoes, vegetables, broccoli, rice, pasta... etc. etc. Congratulations, you've proven to us that you know how to use google. When you tell me you eat a potato with your sirloin steak, what the actual fuck does that tell me? Nothing, because if you have actually bought a bag of potatoes recently, you'd quickly come to the conclusion that they are all different fucking sizes! Am i supposed to track every single cow and bull on the chopping block just to figure out how big of a steak you're eating? Now unless you've been gifted with some magical sixth sense and can tell me exactly how heavy a food item is just by glancing at it (and if you have, why the fuck are you here? You should be working for NASA analyzing the cosmos and looking for dark matter and shit), you NEED THE GODDAMN FOOD SCALE. Go ahead and try it, grab a weight scale and weigh what you "think you consume" and find out how much you "actually consume." And please, unless you're eating the damned plate too, hit the tare weight button.

You need to know the exact weight of the food you're pounding down on a regular basis, down to the goddamned gram and ounce. Why? Because you know how to use math to calculate how much milligrams of AAS are in a milliliter of your gear (at least i hope to god you know how), so you should be able to multiply the nutritional value of a single gram of whatever you're consuming, to the nominal amount of it you're consuming! How else are you going to know what exactly you need to devour every day to gain that extra, or lose that extra, half a pound? Nothing shows us you're more serious about hitting those goals than having your diet down to the single gram! And what better way to help you reach those goals, then helping you tweak your already broken down diet, and injecting the exact amount of additional macronutrients that you need to go above and beyond your goals. When you post up your diets, I want to see you having your damn macros calculated down to the tenths of a gram! Why redesign the entire wheel, if all you need to get to where you want is adding an additional two ounces of chicken tenders, an additional 30g of carbs split amongst your meals? And all of this is easily accomplished just by adding those extra few grams when preparing your meals on a scale. The food scale is the vessel to your growth, without it you're spinning your wheels going nowhere.

Now get a scale, learn to use it, weigh everything, and get to growing!

This is a good post, and its so damn important, I have a decent eye for food portions now because ive used a scale for so damn long but how can someone whos never used one have any idea what a 8oz potato or a 12oz potato looks like? They cant, unless they have that magical sixth sense lol. This plus myfitnesspal=winning combination. I paid big money to have a top coach do my prep for me and the diet was laid out like you said above, i atleast got the meat portion in ounces but it would say with a baked potato, wtf? a 6oz baked potato, a 12oz baked potato? This is important anytime of the year but during prep for a damn show these portion sizes need to be exact. I wasnt very happy to say the least. +2

To add to this, a set of measuring cups on a ring is an excellent complement to a good scale. I have one hanging on a nail above my stove with a 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 3/4 and 1 cup sizes. Makes measuring serving sizes dosed in fractions of a cup like shredded cheese, rice and oats quick and easy.

Add a good food processor to that and your really in business. I have a ninja ninja blender that will puree raw oats and brown rice to a freakin powder. If I know that I will be on the go all day and not able to eat all of my meals I will puree either half a cup of oats or 1/4 cup of raw brown rice, mix in a scoop of whey protein, throw it in a baggie then put the baggie in my protein shaker so all I need to do is empty it and add water when it's time to eat. There have been days where I knew that I would be lucky to get one solid, whole food meal in so I stuffed three or four baggies in my protein shaker and still got my cals in for the day.

... I shall get a food scale now... Lol seriously though good post bro, these are the post I like to see on the forum! Thanks Bro for the straight up info, definitely thought my diet was "on point" lol

Good post bro. It's insane to see the loads these guys and a lot of are running these days and they don't even consider these facts. Food is the most anabolic compoiund on earth. Alot guys on here are walking around with nothing but anabolic piss becaused they dont know how to eat. plus 2

The Impastable's picture

These guys waste so much money on gear, they could instead invest it into a scale and extra food and balloon in size...

Weigh your portions and log it with the Myfitnesspal app.

I use an excel spreadsheet, but I'll definitely look into the app... I've heard it mentioned before, so about time I got my hands on it too.

Pasta - nice read. Folk really don't have a food scale? I never much thought about it. It's like saying folks don't have a scale to weight themselves either. +2

The Impastable's picture

I'm slowly realizing it's the things that we take for granted are actually the basic building blocks a lot of the new comers are missing... So I'm trying to address that as best as I can. If this makes 10 people go out and get a food scale and start logging their dietary intakes, then that's 10 people who can break out of their plateaus and hit their goals!

Eagles 2013's picture

Or not counting the amount of weight you rack and just being satisfied with "that looks like a lot"

Eagles 2013's picture

Absolutely spot on! I preach this all the time to people. I hear "I had a chicken breast and a cup of brown rice for dinner" I then ask how much chicken did you have and get responses like "bro... I just told you- I had a chicken breast". Well the nutritional info on most meats is based on 4 Oz serving sizes. How the hell are you supposed to REALLY know how many macros you are bringing in without breaking the numbers down to grams per ounce, weighing your portions then multiplying the grams per ounce by the number of ounces you consume??? YOU CAN'T! Without a food scale it's all guess work and guess work doesn't get the job done. Unless you are weighing your portions you have no business even stating your macro amounts when asked about your diet.

It goes for more than just meat too! A serving size of peanut butter is two tablespoons. Guess what? I can empty half a can of peanut butter with two scoops using a tablespoon if I want to. WORTHLESS!!! You have to look next to two tablespoons to see that it represents 32 grams then take your food scale out and measure 32 grams of peanut butter!!!

Most people would probably shit if they knew just how much boneless skinless chicken breast meat it takes to hit 8 oz because they have never measured it out.

Great post brother. +1 all the way

Makes sense and nice post but way too much work for me. No way I am weighing my food and counting my macros. Didn't even know what a macro was until a few months ago. I try to eat clean for the most part, maintain what I got plus or minus and enjoy life. I eat when I'm hungry. Stop when I am satisfied.

Could I have added some muscle over the years if I was more careful? Probably! But for me personally, it just isn't that high on my list of priorities.

The Impastable's picture

This post wasn't aimed at guys like you in all honesty, it was aimed at the newbies putting together stacks that contain more grams of drugs in Half a months time than most of us here take throughout an entire cycle. I used to do I your way too, but I eventually plateaud in my gains... Once I started measuring things out I realized I wasn't getting as much from my food as I thought I was, and instead was adding on empty calories instead. The minute I invested in one of these and dialed things in more, I managed to break out of the plataeu and start gaining again. This was more intended at those guys who swear they can't hit 200lbs without gear no matter how much they eat.

Pale's picture

Same here. I fully agree weighing portions is by far the best way, however I am also a realist and have a real business and family to run. Eating as clean as possible with a educated mind set has been working well for me.

cd1's picture

100 percent with you on this

win3200's picture

That's the main reason I went to the paleo diet. It's hard at first but you get accustomed to it. I do eat grain that aren't paleo but I do that at the very beginning of my day.

Eagles 2013's picture

Although not measuring your portions may have held you back some, I still had to give you a +1 for the honesty. I would be willing to bet there are a ton of people on this site who bullshit about their age, stats, diet, cycle history etc. to keep from hearing things they don't want to hear. Some are easy to spot but I'm sure there are a ton that run under the radar
