Test base for all cycles?

I've been reading a lot about how the guys in the golden era did not use test in all of their cycles. But today's world people will try and hang you for even bringing this subject up. Can someone try and explain to me what happened in those 50 or so years since then???

Not really sure what happened in the last 50-60 years. I've never ran a cycle without test but I'm about to start lowering my doses dramatically and rely on the Anabolic's more as they were designed to build tissue and have less androgenic properties. With that said I've known people who have ran very successful cycles with deca, eq, tbol, var, dbol without test. Fact of the matter is most people run to much test for their size or bf level. you really need to be lean to run a decent dose of test and not look like shit.
It all depends on someones goals. Lets say you just want to add a little size or compete in say men's physique. I have been known to put someone on say a anavar only cycle. Now if adding size is your main concern and you want to compete in bodybuilding test will always be king.
Alot of the guys in the "golden era" were mostly serious competitors and running test can sometimes be disadvantageous for a prep cycle. Who really knows what they were taking back then though, it is all mostly speculation anyways. Nowadays with the ease of getting AAS most users are just gym rats and there is absolutely no reason for them not to base a cycle with test. Hell, for most of them that all they should be using. It just makes things a whole lot simpler. No need to get fancy when you don't have to.

Can you pls update your stats. Now I am curious as to why you're even asking this question at your age? It can and does get done.....in fact there is one very senior member on this forum doing it right now. But he has years and years of experience and is doing it for very specific and well thought though reasons and with a clear back up plan should things go south. I'd say focus on getting first cycle run and run well befor moving into more exotic things.
I would be curious to read a good credible write up on why one would not use test when using other steroids. If you shut your natural testosterone down, and are not supplementing it, aren't you defeating the purpose?
