Test and Lupus?

ad

Hi,

I have just started taking test in the past 4 weeks and have been having great results. My boyfriend wants to start taking it also but he has Lupus. Can he take test? I know that it speeds up things like cancer in the body but would it do the same with Lupus?

Abstract

Systemic lupus erythematosus occurs with much greater frequency in females than in males, and in some reports, researchers suggested that treatment with androgenic hormones might have therapeutic effects in this disease. The authors report a case of systemic lupus erythematosus in a hypogonadal male with Klinefelter's syndrome who was treated with testosterone in doses sufficient to normalize the serum level of this hormone to the adult male range. Hematologic and serologic abnormalities, including elevated levels of anti-DNA antibodies and depressed complement levels, returned to normal within 9 months of increasing the testosterone dose. The findings in this patient indicate that androgenic steroids can exert significant effects on immune parameters, and suggest that effects of androgens on the immune system may contribute to the sexual dimorphism of autoimmune disease.

At first I thought there was no way it could help someone with a condition like lupus but the more digging I do the more I see it might have positive effects ... if your boyfriend has low test trt might be an option (Dr supervised) but if his test levels are good running cycles could do more damage to his Natural test production than it would in an otherwise healthy individual so weigh these options and this information carefully

Thank you this is very helpful
His natural test production is low and that is partly why he is thinking about starting a cycle of test

Well if his testosterone is low cycling will only exacerbate the situation something to keep in mind. When you have low test and cycle it just gets lower and sometimes you don't recover. You could always have him join and post bloods/stats/goals then ask for advice

I'd recommend seeing an endo or a urologist before I would self medicating
